Imagine living life in Hollywood. You’d be rubbing shoulders with the biggest names in the games. You’d likely call a celeb or two a close friend, and might even wind up dating someone with over a million followers on social media. It would be a complete culture shock to suddenly be thrust into the world of the rich and famous. But not everything is bound to be glamorous.

Along with all of the incredible, famous friendships you could create as a celeb, you’d also need to be prepared for the feuds that would come your way. Rubbing shoulders with Tinsel Town’s elite means that you’re bound to rub someone the wrong way and just wait until the media gets a whiff of it! Suddenly your name will be plastered all across the headlines with the public trying to decipher what’s going on between you and your so-called nemesis.

The celebrities that made this list have all been discussed in the tabloids for their famous friendships. And while they may seem on good terms with their fellow stars, not everything is as it seems. These 21 celeb duos might seem friendly in front of the camera, but IRL they can’t stand each other. What duo are you the most surprised about?

21 Kylie Jenner And Selena Gomez

Selena Gomez almost made it onto Keeping Up With The Kardashians!

There was a time when the pop star was seen frequently hanging out with Kylie and Kendall Jenner, even attending Coachella with the famous sisters. But nowadays it seems like these celebs want nothing to do with each other. So what gives?

Selena was hurt after she learned Kylie sent photos to her ex Justin Bieber as well as spent some one-on-one time with him back in 2014, The Daily Mail reports. “Selena flipped out and there was a huge fight between the girls. She now wants nothing to do with Kylie or [her sister] Kendall,” a source said at the time.

20 Amy Schumer And Jennifer Lawrence

Since they have the whole funny gal routine in common, fans weren’t surprised when Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Schumer seemed to be getting buddy-buddy with each other. In 2015, photos were published of the ladies vacationing together and they followed the paparazzi pics by posting their own selfies to social media, confirming their friendship.

However, in recent years, J-Law and Amy haven’t been spotted hanging out together in what feels like an eternity. In 2016, OK Magazine reported that the two fell out when Amy began dating Ben Hanisch.

"Before Ben came along, Amy and Jen were like sisters but Amy dropped her. Jen couldn't believe it," an insider explained. "Amy is so wrapped up in Ben she doesn't respond to Jen's messages."

19 Lady Gaga And Lindsay Lohan

A friendship between Lady Gaga and Lindsay Lohan seemed like an unlikely thing- that is, until the pop star posted a series of blurry photos of her and the Mean Girls actress enjoying a slumber party at Chateau Marmont, The Daily Mail reports.

The two posted on their social media accounts that they were hanging out back in 2012, a day after LiLo had been cleared in a jewellery heist that happened in Hollywood (what a strange year).

Fans went wild when they thought the two celebs might actually be close friends. However, the two were never seen hanging out again, at least not to the public’s knowledge. We speculate that Gaga’s rising star power encouraged her to distance herself from the troubled actress.

18 Lauren Graham And Scott Patterson

Even though Rory and Jess were a real couple IRL for some time, unfortunately the same can’t be said for Luke and Lorelai. Many fans will be surprised to know that these Gilmore Girl onscreen lovers actually can’t stand each other in real life.

Lauren Graham told TV Guide she and Scott Patterson weren't the best of friends, adding, “It's a very functioning, working set, and I think some of that is helped by us having a little bit of a life outside. But I'm here an average of 50 hours a week, so there isn't a lot of socializing for any of us."

Luckily, these two actors were able to put aside their differences when it came to starring in the Gilmore Girls reboot on Netflix. Maybe this means another reboot could possibly be in our future! *fingers crossed*

17 Kimye And The Carters

For a while there, it seemed like Kim Kardashian and Kanye West were becoming friends with Jay-Z and Beyoncé. The two rappers have a long work history together and sources have said Kim has always wanted to be Queen Bey’s friend. And with kids similar in ages, these couples seemed like a good match as friends.

But sources have revealed that these pairs aren’t as close as fans might think. Evidently, The Carters have never been huge fans of Kimye and have tried to distance themselves from them in recent years.

“Beyoncé has never genuinely liked Kim. She’s mostly tolerated her because of their husbands’ friendship and [their] mutual friends,” a source said, as The Mirror reports.

The Carters were noticeably absent from Kimye’s 2014 wedding. In recent years, Jay and Kanye have taken to making jabs at each other in their music, making it clear none of them are friends.

16 Taylor Swift And Lorde

Fans were a bit confused when alternative gal Lorde began hanging out with pop star Taylor Swift. The singers seemed like complete opposites, but then they also seemed like such sweet friends in their social media tributes to one another. For a while, it seemed Lorde was officially a member of the Squad.

However, Lorde caused waves when she spoke about the difficulties of having a friend as famous (and notorious) as Tay.

"It's like having a friend with very specific allergies," Lorde said, as The Huffington Post reports. "There are certain places you can't go together. Certain things you can't do. There are these different sets of considerations within the friendship. It's like having a friend with an autoimmune disease."

Lorde later clarified that her comments were taken out of context and she didn’t mean it as a diss whatsoever. But given that she hasn’t been seen hanging out with Taylor in forever, it appears these two friends might be on the outs.

15 Selena Gomez And Gigi Hadid

Selena Gomez and Gigi Hadid are both members of Taylor Swift’s Squad, so having a mutual group of friends definitely helped these celebs become close. So much so, that both Sel and Gigi have been spotted hanging out together sans Taylor proving that were at one time pretty decent friends. But things became awkward when Selena got involved with The Weeknd.

In 2017, Selena began dating The Weeknd, who’d previously dated Bella Hadid (Gigi’s sister) for several years. Bella was reportedly sad that he'd moved on so quickly with Sel, as Style Caster reports. Things got more awkward when Sel broke up with The Weeknd to get back with Justin Bieber, only to have The Weeknd get back with Bella.

Gigi evidently felt caught in the middle during the whole love triangle, but ultimately will always side with her sister. We’re guessing red-carpet run-ins have become super-uncomfortable for these two.

14 Britney Spears And Christina Aguilera

These pop stars have known each other since they were kids. They both got their start in the biz thanks to their roles in Mickey Mouse’s Clubhouse, and then they both similarly went on to launch their own solo careers. Despite seeming like friends in front of the camera, sources paint a very different story.

For the last decade, sources have been claiming that Brit and X-Tina have always felt like each other’s biggest competition, which has prevented them from ever being real friends. In recent years, both singers have denied there’s any bad blood between them, though.

During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel in 2018, Christina said this about the feud: “Back then [in the 1990s], the media was the storyteller for you. When I was coming up it was very obvious, me and Britney were definitely considered rivals,” she continued. “If we had social media back then, we would have probably done a song together or something and squashed it.”

13 Kim Cattrall And Sarah Jessica Parker

Sex and the City convinced us that the four main actresses must all be besties IRL. And while Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis all seem like they got along pretty well during filming, Kim Cattrall has made it clear she’s not friends with the cast, particularly SJP.

For years, rumours suggested that Kim didn’t get on well with her co-stars and was difficult to work with during filming. But Kim made it very clear this past fall that she wants nothing to do with SJP specifically when she slammed her on social media.

Sarah had reached out when it was reported that Kim’s brother passed away, but the actress said she didn’t want her condolences. "I don't need your love or support at this tragic time @sarahjessicaparker,” she wrote online, as Elle reports. “My Mom asked me today 'When will that @sarahjessicaparker, that hypocrite, leave you alone? Your continuous reaching out is a painful reminder of how cruel you really were then and now." She ended it with, “Let me make this VERY clear. (If I haven't already) You are not my family. You are not my friend.” Ouch!

12 Lauren Conrad And Heidi Montag

Lauren Conrad and Heidi Montag seemed like the best of friends in the beginning of The Hills. But the dissolution of their friendship played out for the remainder of the season, proving they were never as close as we thought.

The friction began on-screen when Heidi started dating her now-husband, Spencer Pratt, who didn’t mesh well with her gal pal. Heidi and Lauren began getting more distant until they were full-blown nemeses. Now, rumour has it their feud is one reason Lauren refused to sign on for The Hills reboot in 2009.

“I’d be willing to move forward and put things behind us,” Heidi said about her old co-star in 2018, as People reports. “We would never be the way that we were again, but it would be fun to maybe catch up one day and be mature and be like, ‘Hey that was crazy, I wish you the best,’ type-of-thing. But I don’t think she would be ever ready for that.”

11 Demi Lovato And Selena Gomez

Back when they were both Disney Darlings, Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez were complete #friendshipgoals. They’d been close since childhood after meeting on the set of Barney and Friends, but it looks like fame eventually took a toll on these two.

As Selena began getting closer to Taylor Swift and her group, Demi became more vocal about her disdain for Tay’s so-called Girl Squad, which she accused of not being inclusive. This seemed to drive a wedge between Selena and Demi, and the girls were photographed less and less together. Eventually, they both confirmed that they’d just drifted apart.

While fans have always hoped for a reconciliation, we’re not sure if that’s happening anytime soon. Just this November, Demi unfollowed Selena on Instagram, proving there’s still bad blood brewing.

10 Blake Lively And Leighton Meester

Blake Lively and Leighton Meester portrayed tight-knit friends during their time on Gossip Girl, which made many fans believe the actresses were actually close in real life. But when the series came to an end, it became apparent these two ladies aren’t all that close.

“Blake and Leighton were not friends,” GG’s Executive Producer Joshua Safran told People in 2017. “They were friendly, but they were not friends like [their characters] Serena and Blair. Yet the second they’d be on set together, it’s as if they were.”

He implied that it was due to a difference in personalities, Blake was “very in the moment,” whereas Leighton was “very removed and very quiet.”

9 Jennifer Lopez And Victoria Beckham

For a while, Jennifer Lopez and Victoria Beckham were inseparable. They were always photographed hand-in-hand at events and only had lovely things to say about each other. But things took a turn in 2012 when J-Lo split from her husband, Marc Anthony.

Suddenly, the singer-actress was never pictured with the fashion designer, despite this being a time she needed friends the most. "I haven't seen them (the Beckhams) in a while. They had little baby Harper,” Jennifer said at the time, as Digital Spy reports. "I wish them the best of luck."

Since then, sources have mused that Jennifer ended her friendship with Victoria when the former Spice Girl took J-Lo's ex-husband’s side during the divorce. Or maybe she got caught in the crossfire.

8 Tyra Banks And Janice Dickinson

Tyra Banks and Janice Dickinson seemed thick as thieves during their time together on America’s Next Top Model. After all, they were both veterans in the fashion industry and seemed to have good banter on-screen.

But Janice made it clear in 2007 that she didn’t have good feelings towards Tyra or her reality show. When it was revealed Janice was leaving her role as a judge, she gave an interview where she criticized Tyra and called ANTM "rigged," as She Knows reports.

In 2015, Janice came forward apologizing for the feud. “I’ve said some pretty bad things about her in the past because I had been fired,” she said, as E! News reports. “I was very hurt that I had been fired and so I acted out, and that was not when I was acting in a sober-like fashion.” The former model added that she had a great experience working with Tyra.

7 Simon Cowell And Paula Abdul

Everyone thought there was something more going on with Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell during their stints as judges on American Idol. The two were always playfully arguing and unabashedly flirting, but perhaps it was only an act for the cameras.

In reality, sources have said that the two didn’t get along whatsoever, which may have been one of the factors that motivated Paula to eventually leave the show. The singer seemed less than thrilled about her experience working with the music producer during a 2016 interview with Billboard.

“Simon and I had a very authentic, interesting, eclectic relationship that played out on TV very well,” she said. “It’s an acquired experience.”

6 Kim Kardashian And Paris Hilton

Before Kim K was a household name, Paris Hilton was the "It" girl in Hollywood. These two girls grew up in the same social circle and for a brief moment, Kim was Paris’ sidekick as she partied her way through Hollywood.

From what fans can see, Paris was never a very nice friend to Kim. On her reality show, Paris was seen ordering the future reality star around and making her clean out her closet. Eventually, the pair drifted apart when Kim’s star power began rising, which subsequently led Paris to famously claim during an interview that she’s the one who made Kim famous, as Nicki Swift reports. Nah, we think the tape did that…

Nowadays, the socialites have seemingly made amends and have even been spotted hanging out together within the last few years. Do you think Paris will make an appearance on Keeping Up anytime soon?

5 Martha Stewart And Snoop Dogg

Though it was an odd pairing to begin with, people loved seeing the Queen of etiquette, Martha Stewart, and legendary rapper, Snoop Dogg, whip up some magic in the kitchen on their cooking show Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party. And though the two seemed to have good banter, rumour has it that their different personalities often clashed when not filming.

"You know, as we were making the show, there was so much hate, so much BS, and then it's like all of a sudden you show up on this set," Sally Ann Salsano, creator of the celebs’ show, told USA Today. "Martha's side is decorated like, you know, Martha and Snoop's side has the front grill of a '64 Impala coming out of it. And I found it super interesting because you have two people who, on paper and visually, are complete and utter opposites yet they are exactly alike."

4 Avril Lavigne And Hilary Duff

Back in the mid-2000s, Hilary Duff and Avril Lavigne seemed friendly enough with each other at red carpet events, which made many fans hope these two would go public with their friendship. But alas that moment never came.

Rather, the two pop stars got into a bitter feud in 2004. Hilary said in an interview that Avril should be more appreciative of her fans after the punk-pop princess said she hated when fans dressed up like her. Avril didn’t take well to Hil’s comments.

"If [Hilary] doesn't shut her mouth, then I'll shut it for her," Avril told People magazine in 2004, as Paper magazine reports. "Hilary is more of an actress than a musician. People, like, wrote songs for her.” The celebs have reportedly been avoiding each other at events ever since.

3 Miley Cyrus And Demi Lovato

We’re not sure if these two former Disney stars were ever actually friends! Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato rose to fame around the same time, thanks to their popular Disney Channel sitcoms. The girls always put on a friendly face for the cameras, making it seem like they were friends in real life.

But around 2013, it became clear they weren’t that close at all. The stars have made some vague jabs at each other through social media, but it remains unclear what led to their fallout. "It's life, and people change. I don't have anything in common with her anymore. I wish her the best,” Demi said about Miley in an interview with Billboard.

Some wonder if it has to do with Demi’s then-BFF dating Nick Jonas, Miley’s ex. But considering Demi and Sel are on this list, too, we’re not sure if that’s the real reason.

2 Denise Richards And Heather Locklear

Every blonde needs a blonde bestie, right? Well, Denise Richards and Heather Locklear may not agree with that.

In 2006, Heather Locklear filed for divorce from her husband, Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora, after he was rumoured to get too close to Denise. Though both parties denied dating while Richie was still married, the two did date on and off for several years after his divorce from Heather.

Unsurprisingly, the actresses never mended their friendship. "I wish Heather well," Denise said to People in 2006. "Unfortunately, our friendship had to dissolve and I'm sad about that. The last thing I would want to do is create a media frenzy like this."

1 Gwyneth Paltrow And Madonna

Gwyneth Paltrow and Madonna used to be inseparable during the ‘90s and early 2000s, but things have sure changed. Nowadays, these celebs barely speak to each other and actually go out of their way to make each other uncomfortable.

The fallout between these famous friends is rumoured to have happened over a personal trainer. Madge and Gwyn both used personal trainer Tracy Anderson. But after her divorce from Guy Ritchie, Madonna decided to move on to a different personal trainer, for whatever reason.

Evidently, this offended Gwyneth, as she considered her and Madonna to be friends of Tracy’s. Shape reported at the time that Madonna was even banned from their close circle of friends that included Kate Hudson and Stella McCartney.

There's no doubt this friendship is over - for good.
