With the impressive amounts they have in their bank accounts, it’s hard to imagine any celebrities still living at home with their parents. And although financial issues can sometimes be the reason, it turns out there are tons of other reasons why a star may want to move back in with mom and dad.
How do we know this? Because it turns out a lot of A-listers do, in fact, still crash with their parents (even the Kardashians!). Sometimes celebrities go home because their own houses are under renovation or something in their personal life is making them miss their family. Either way, it’s proof that you’re never too rich or famous to go back to mom and dad’s when you need to.
On the other hand, there are some celebrities who could probably benefit from some time back at the parents, but still haven’t made the move. From celebrities who are struggling with their mental health to those who appear to be having financial issues, there are some stars who could definitely benefit from living with their parents temporarily. And that’s why we’ve come up with this list of 18 stars who live with their parents and four celebrities who should consider packing their bags and heading to their mom’s.
22 Lives With Parents: Jordyn Woods
Jordyn Woods is the most recent celebrity to move back home! Following the celebrity’s involvement with Khloe Kardashian boyfriend Tristan Thompson, Kylie Jenner asked her bestie to move out after they’d lived together for several years.
It was reported that Jordyn then packed her bags and headed back to her mom’s house, where she’s been laying low ever since. “Jordyn has been like Kylie’s sister. They were inseparable, and always together,” a source told People about the situation. “Jordyn often helped Kylie with Stormi. Kylie was always so excited to have Jordyn around. It seems Kylie isn’t sure what to do, but it seems impossible for her to keep Jordyn around.”
21 Lives With Parents: Selena Gomez
According to Cheat Sheet, Selena Gomez spent many years of her adult life living with her mother Mandy and her stepfather Brian. Why? It was likely because her parents were still acting as her managers at the time, so it only made sense.
However, it appeared that a rift came between the family when the pop star abruptly fired her mom as her manager in 2014. “Selena feels she's outgrown her parents,” a source explained at the time, Daily Mail reports.
They added that Selena had been arguing about the direction of her career, which spurred her to hire a professional. Or, perhaps it was her tumultuous relationship with Justin Bieber that was making her parents concerned!
20 Lives With Parents: Bradley Cooper
Despite being worth an estimated $100 million, Bradley Cooper still lives with his mom! Cheat Sheet reports that the celebrity insisted his mom come stay with him after his father passed away in 2011.
“Don’t get me wrong, it’s not without complications,” Bradley once said about the arrangement. “It’s not like I live in a compound and she’s in the guesthouse. No. She’s in the next room.”
Even though Bradley welcomed a daughter with his long-time girlfriend Irina Shayk in 2017, reports say that his mother still lives in his home. Must be a busy house!
19 Needs Her Parents: Jenelle Evans
Fans of Teen Mom 2 know just how badly Jenelle Evans could use a break from her current living situation!
The celebrity has made headlines countless times for her husband David Eason’s bizarre behaviour, which has made many fans concerned for her welfare. Just a few months ago, the reality star called 911 on her hubby, though she later said she regretted it.
Although fans know things weren’t easygoing when the star lived at home with her mom Barbara, at least it may have been a bit less chaotic. And considering that her mom has custody of her oldest son, Jace, it would give them a chance to spend some quality time together.
18 Lives With Parents: Jennifer Lawrence
Although she can probably afford multiple houses at this point, Jennifer Lawrence once said that she prefers living with her mom. To her, it doesn’t make sense to move into a multi-bedroom house when it would just be her.
“Ten million dollars and I’m still living in my parents’ condo,” the celebrity told Elle in 2012. “I’ve always lived in a tiny rat-infested apartment in New York, or a little condo in L.A., or a normal house in Kentucky. I think it would be very bizarre to live in a big mansion by myself.”
However, in 2016, it was reported that J-Law had purchased an $8 million mansion in LA. There’s no word on if her mom moved in or not.
17 Lives With Parents: Kim Kardashian
Fans wondered if Kim Kardashian and Kanye West were ever going to move out of her mother’s house after the couple and their children stayed there for over three years while their Bel Air mansion was being renovated. Kimye moved in shortly after the birth of their first child, North, in 2013.
However, unforeseen issues with their renovations caused the family to stay longer than they expected. It wasn’t until 2016 that Kim and her brood finally moved out of Kris’s place. However, the Momager has said she would gladly have her daughter move back in. “[I’d do it] in a heartbeat. I actually miss them,” she told Steve Harvey in 2017.
16 Lives With Parents: Amanda Bynes
After the actress had a very public meltdown several years ago, it was reported that her parents Rick and Lynn Bynes petitioned the court for conservatorship over their troubled child. They were temporarily granted control of her finances and health decisions, which led to Amanda briefly moving back in with them.
This past August, People reported that her parents’ conservatorship had ended after the celebrity made great strides to better herself. “The court felt, based on Amanda’s progress and her great relationship with her parents, there was no longer a need for court supervision of Amanda’s money and she and her family can handle her financial affairs privately,” a source told the publication.
15 Lives With Parents: Snooki
Evidently, after her time partying it up on Jersey Shore, Snooki welcomed moving back in with her in-laws. According to Cheat Sheet, the reality star and her husband Jionni LaValle briefly lived with his parents in 2013 while their New Jersey home was under construction.
“I love living at Jionni’s parents’ house,” Snooki said of the arrangement. “We live in the basement … [When] we need help with the baby or we just want to take a nap, Janice, his mother, can watch the baby, so we have a lot of help, and I love that.” Since then, the couple and their two kids (they’re currently expecting their third!) have moved into their own home.
14 Lives With Parents: Demi Lovato
Demi Lovato has had a very public battle to stay clean in the last decade. During a particularly dark time, it was reported she moved back in with her mother Dianna De La Garza to help her get back on her feet. The singer was later transferred to a sober living facility.
“The ultimate breaking point would have been when Demi was on tour, and she lashed out at one of her dancers, physically,” Demi’s mom told People about her struggle. “That was the defining moment where we all said, as a family: She needs help. She needs serious help. And it doesn’t matter what happens to her career — we need to focus on getting her the help she needs.”
13 Needs His Parents: Justin Bieber
Justin Bieber has had a roller-coaster of a ride in his personal life. Most recently, the actor got married to Hailey Baldwin and has since revealed he’s seeking treatment for his mental health.
Jumping into a marriage when you’re that young can be tough, which is why Justin Bieber might benefit from taking a break at his parents’ house. Hey, Hailey could even go with him! The singer’s mother, Pattie Mallette, used to act as his manager, so the two have a strong bond. Thus, don’t be surprised if you see him showing up at his mom’s house with a moving truck.
12 Lives With Parents: Zendaya
Although she can definitely afford her own space, Zendaya has revealed she prefers to stay close to her family. Thus, she still lives at home.
“We’ve set boundaries. We have territories. They respect my space and I respect their space,” she once told Ellen DeGeneres about the arrangement. The actress added that there are tons of perks about living with her family, apart from saving money.
“At the end of the day, you know, I don’t have to wake myself up. I get a free ride. Why would I want to give that up?” she said while laughing.
11 Lives With Parents: Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt
Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, better known as Speidi, made their way into headlines thanks to their fame-seeking antics on The Hills. However, when reports said they’d eaten through their $10 million fortune in 2012, the couple moved back in with Spencer’s parents to re-evaluate their finances.
For several years, Heidi lived in her in-laws' Santa Barbara home, which helped to detract from the swarm of paparazzi trying to get her and Spencer's pictures at the time.
"[Reacclimatizing] off that high of that fame and lifestyle was really hard," Heidi said of the experience, E! News reports. "We had these expectations of, 'Oh, we're going to have our own show.' My expectation of life and where I thought we were going to be is so different from our reality."
10 Lives With Parents: Michael B. Jordan
Despite a net worth estimated at $8 million, Michael B. Jordan is one actor who still lives with his parents. Years ago, the star spoke about his hope to buy his parents a home. “Look, it’s every kid’s dream to buy their mom and dad a house,” he said, Cheat Sheet reports. And it wasn’t long until he made that a reality.
The celebrity actually bought his parents a $1.7 million Spanish style mansion a few years back. However, he also moved into it! Since then, Jordan has been living with his parents and enjoying home-cooked meals. However, he did recently tell Ellen DeGeneres he’s looking for his own bachelor pad, so the arrangement likely won’t last forever.
9 Lives With Parents: Kristen Stewart
No Twilight fans can forget when Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart’s relationship came crumbling down in 2012. Evidently, the actress wanted to move out of their shared $6 million mansion immediately, so she packed up her things and moved back into her parents’ Woodland Hills, California home.
"(Her parents) feel Kristen has really embarrassed herself and don't blame Rob for not calling her back," a source said at the time, NY Daily News reports. "This is not the Kristen they know." The insider added, "Kristen's sad and upset and desperately wishes she could turn back the clock.”
8 Lives With Parents: Rob Kardashian
Kim isn’t the only Kardashian to move back in with momager Kris when things get tough. According to Celebuzz, Rob moved back in with his mother last fall following his very public break-up from Blac Chyna, with whom he shares daughter Dream.
The publication reported that Kris was helping her son lay low and recover his reputation following his online tirade where he released unsavory photos of his ex to his social media followers. “He is apparently working out a lot and looks really good. He just doesn’t want to be associated with his sisters and their drama right now and is focusing on his daughter Dream,” a source said. There’s no word on if or when Rob is moving out.
7 Needs Her Parents: Danielle Bregoli
Teenager Danielle Bregoli shot to fame during her infamous appearance on Dr. Phil where she coined the phrase “cash me outside.” The teen’s mother had written to the show for help managing her daughter’s out-of-control antics and bad attitude, but it didn’t go as planned.
Not only did the appearance seemingly not help their relationship, it instead catapulted Danielle into fame. She somehow managed to sign a recording contract and is now making headlines for getting into feuds with fellow celebrities, her music videos, and just generally causing mayhem.
Considering she’s only 15 years old, we’d definitely say this is one star who could benefit from some time at home. But considering she has enough money in the bank to buy a few homes of her own, we doubt Danielle will be moving back in with her mom anytime soon.
6 Lives With Parents: Julia Roberts
Back in 2014, reports said that Julia Roberts’s mother had moved into her Malibu home, which the actress shares with her husband Daniel Moder and their three children. The decision was made after Julia’s half-sister, Nancy Motes, had passed away. Unfortunately, Julia’s mother passed the following year in 2015 at the age of 80.
“I think about her all the time,” Julia said of her loss in 2017, Daily Mail reports. “And the kids talk about her a lot.” She continued, “[When I] had three children under 3 years old, I was like, ‘Mom, how did you do this? And instead of saying, ‘Well, you just have to apply yourself and it takes effort,’ she goes, ‘It’s called daycare, honey.’”
5 Lives With Parents: Taylor Lautner
Kristen isn't the only Twilight star who moved back home!
Although he seemed like the next big thing while Twilight was still popular, fans haven’t heard about Taylor Lautner in recent years. The celebrity’s acting career has become a bit stale, so perhaps that explains why the star has been crashing at his parents’ Santa Clarita, California home.
According to Cheat Sheet, the actor has been trying to save money by living with his parents, despite having an estimated net worth of $40 million.
“The thing I love is that my home life hasn’t changed,” Taylor once said, the publication reports. “I still help out with the garbage. I still help out with the lawn.”
4 Lives With Parents: Maria Menounos
Back in 2014, reality star Maria Menounos had no problem telling Ellen DeGeneres that she and her then-husband Keven Undergaro were living with her parents (the couple eventually married in 2017). Her BF’s long-time friend, Joe, was also living with them.
Maria explained the arrangement worked for them since they all worked together. Her experience living with her parents was also documented on her show Chasing Maria Menounos.
Interestingly, the celebrity has admitted that she couldn’t tell her parents about her 2017 brain tumor until right before her surgery, despite living with them. “Deciding to tell [them] was the toughest part,” she told People.
3 Needs Her Parents: Paris Jackson
Paris Jackson has evidently been going through a tough time since the documentary Leaving Neverland was released about her famous father Michael Jackson.
A little over a week ago, reports said the 20-year old was rushed to the hospital over an undisclosed injury. As the celeb has been open about her struggles with mental health in the past, many fans were quick to assume the worst.
According to Pop Culture, Paris’s friends and family are encouraging her to seek treatment following her release. However, at the very least, we think she could benefit from spending some time at her family’s home and being close to loved ones.
2 Lives With Parents: Dev Patel
Actor Dev Patel shot to fame thanks to his starring role in Slumdog Millionaire. Despite the fame and fortune that came with the breakthrough role, News reports Dev continued to live with his family for many years. The actor once said that regularly squabbling with his sister kept him grounded. Dev is clearly close to his family!
The actor has credited his mother for pushing him to go into acting. “She is a big inspiration. She is a social butterfly, jovial, a real character,” he told The Guardian. “I’m far more introverted. She is the one made to go on screen, not me. The reason I’m in the industry is because of her.”
1 Lives With Parents: Kirk Cousins
Kirk Cousins may have signed an $84 million deal with the Minnesota Vikings, but this NFL star sure likes to live on the frugal side of things. According to CNBC, the 30 year old not only drives a beat-up van he bought from his grandma for $5,000, but he and his wife also live in his in-laws' basement when he’s not travelling for work.
“For a good portion of the off-season, the eminently practical Cousins holes up beneath the floorboards of his teenage home in Holland, Michigan. ... He shares the space with his wife, Julie,” GQ wrote in 2017. “The couple move to a warmer climate during the first few months of the year: the basement of Julie’s parents’ home in Georgia.”
“It works well,” he told the magazine. “We don’t pay rent.”
