As glamorous as it may seem, being a celebrity is not all it's cracked up to be. Sure, they're famous and have lots of money but it can be difficult to maintain personal and romantic relationships while also balancing a career that could be over in a matter of seconds, with one poorly received album, one movie flop, or even one careless tweet. Though there are many celebrities who date other celebrities, there are some who prefer to date and even marry someone that's not under the radar. The life of a celebrity is intense and busy and some celebs choose to not date someone with the same hectic lifestyle. Celebs like Matt Damon and George Clooney were once known to date plenty of stars in their day but they both ended up marrying beautiful yet non-celebrity women. However, there are some celebs who have dated their fair share of Hollywood stars but, in the end, decided to settle down with a civilian.
Most people dream of meeting their favorite celebrity and somehow managing to get the star to fall in love with them but it's just a fantasy...at least for the most part. 18 Emma Watson
Though there have long been rumors swirling around in the media about Emma Watson's dating life, including possible relationships with Prince Harry, Tom Hiddleston, and Tom Felton, none of which appear to be true. In fact, not only has she never dated a famous person but the Harry Potter star has stated that she doesn't ever intend to date someone famous because she wants to "protect them." According to an interview in Australia's Elle magazine, Watson said, "I don't date people who are famous, and I don't think it's fair that, all of a sudden, intimate details of their personal life are public as a direct result of me." She has stuck to her word since all of her confirmed boyfriends have all been virtual nobodies. How thoughtful of her.
17 Calvin Harris
Even though it's been a year (has it really been a year?), it's understandable that Calvin Harris is still a bit sour over his failed relationship with Taylor Swift since she, you know, dumped him and moved on to a relationship with Tom Hiddleston. The fact that the Hiddleswift relationship failed too should give him a little bit of comfort. The DJ has made it very clear that he never wants to date another celebrity again because they're narcissistic. According to a TMZ insider, after the breakup Harris is on the lookout for a "normal girl" who is also a "sexy Latina…a Sophia Vergara-type who is not famous." This criteria for his future girlfriend may be oddly specific but the heart wants what it wants. And who are we to burst his bubble? He did get brutally dumped by the biggest pop star in the world right after he had gotten into a car accident. Just let him live in his little fantasy world.
16 James Franco
James Franco has a long list of rumored ex-girlfriends such as Amanda Seyfried, Lana Del Rey, Emilia Clark, and Lindsay Lohan and a few verified exes such as Sienna Miller and supermodel Agyness Deyn. However, in the past few years, there has been virtually no news regarding Franco's dating life at all. For all of you James Franco fans out there, no news is good news. His younger brother just got married to actress Alison Brie but Franco doesn't seem to be moving in that direction any time soon. Though there have been rumors that he's currently dating a non-celebrity gal named Erin Johnson, his last confirmed relationship was way back in 2011 with Deyn. Six years and no ultra famous celebrity girlfriends? It seems like the 127 Hours star has given up on dating celebrities for good. This is very good news for us normal folk!
15 Britney Spears
Britney Spears' dating history is impressive (excluding Kevin Federline) and it includes some big (and some not so big) celebs such as Justin Timberlake, Colin Farrell, Jared Leto (rumored), Criss Angel, Fred Durst, and Tom Brady (rumored). However, from 2009 to about 2013, Spears wasn't seeing anyone (at least not publicly) but she eventually became engaged to Jason Trawick but the two split up in 2013. She is currently dating Sam Asghar, an Iranian model who just turned 23. Get it, girl! Though he appeared in her music video for "Slumber Party" as her love interest and he was the total hottie in the music video for Fifth Harmony's "Work From Home", Asghar is not exactly a celebrity and it appears that Spears has had her fun with celebrity bad boys and she's ready to star anew with a non-celeb.
14 Zoe Saldana
Zoe Saldana has had two serious relationships before she ended up with her current hubby. She dated actor Keith Britton for eleven years and they were even engaged but they broke up in 2011. Then she was in a relationship with Bradley Cooper from 2011 until 2012. After that, she swore of celebrity relationships and married her hunky artist Marco Perego. Saldana has said in interviews that she never wanted to date another actor again and she has also said that she was looking for a guy who was a renegade but was also in touch with his emotions. Apparently Bradley Cooper wasn't much of a renegade but that's not surprising. Saldana and her hubby have been married for three years and they have three children, Cy, Bowie, and Zen.
13 Joseph Gordon-Levitt
Joseph Gordon-Levitt has been in Hollywood for a long time and he's had plenty of time to date other celebrities, however the former 3rd Rock From the Sun star has stayed out of the tabloids when it comes to his love life, at least for the most part. Though he dated Julia Styles way back in 1999 while they were filming 10 Things I Hate About You. After they broke up, he's mostly dated models that like Meighan Bennett and Devon Aoki. However, he gave up all of the models, dancers, and actresses and settled down with Tasha McCauley, the co-founder of Fellow Robots, a robotics company based in Silicon Valley. According to Gordon-Levitt, his wife doesn't care for the Hollywood lifestyle and the two tend to stay out of the spotlight so we won't be seeing them on the red carpet any time soon which is a shame because they are a beautiful couple.
12 Leonardo DiCaprio
This famous Hollywood hottie may be single right now but he has a very long list of ex-girlfriends. Though he has recently dated models you've probably never heard of, he has also had relationships with some high-profile celebs such as Rihanna, Blake Lively, Bar Refaeli, Gisele Bundchen, Naomi Campbell, Demi Moore, and Miranda Kerr. His last relationship ended recently and it was with 25-year-old model Nina Agdel. Nobody is surprised that relationship didn't last. Honestly, after dating all of those beautiful and talented women, you'd think that he would actually find someone to settle down with. Maybe he'll be more like George Clooney and keep going from girl to girl before finally settle down with a non-celebrity in a decade or so. If his future wife is anything like Amal Clooney, he'll be very lucky.

Paris Hilton dated pretty much every guy who was famous in the early 2000s including Nick Carter, Chad Michael Murray, Deryck Whibley, Val Kilmer, Brody Jenner, Criss Angel, Benji Madden, James Blunt, Kid Rock, and Adrien Grenier. However, for the past few years, she's moved on from dating big celebrities and she dated Josh Upshaw, a model and Thomas Gross, a businessman. Recently she began dating Chris Zylka who is a young actor but he's not exactly famous and to call him "up-and-coming" would be an exaggeration. He has appeared in The Secret Circle and The Leftovers but hasn't nabbed any starring roles yet. He and Hilton have been dating since 2016 so maybe a big role is just around the corner. If you're an aspiring actor, it can't hurt to have Paris Hilton on your side.

Back when Jimmy Fallon first started his career on SNL, he had pretty much dated only actresses until he married his wife, Nancy Juvonen who is a film and TV producer. In 2000, he had a relationship with Winona Ryder (though the two say that they were just friends). Sure. He also dated Nadia Dajani, Jordana Brewster, and Tara Subkoff. Finally, he met his wife through Drew Barrymore since she and Barrymore co-founded Flower Films together. Flower Films is responsible for movies like Never Been Kissed, Donnie Darko, Fever Pitch, and Whip It! Though they have a significant age gap between them (she's eight years older than Fallon), the two are totally in love and they have been together for 12 years. Fallon is just one of many celebs to go from dating actors to marrying a TV and film producer.

Ben, Ben, Ben...where do we even start? Ben Affleck's dating history has been very, very messy over the years and it's painful to even go over it. He and Gwyneth Paltrow dated after she had broken up with Brad Pitt and she has since said that her relationship with the Argo actor was tempestuous and hinted that he had cheated on her at least once. Shocker. He also dated Kate Beckinsale, Jamie King, and Salma Hayek before he dated Jennifer Lopez. Though 'Bennifer' was only together for a year and a half, they were one of the biggest couples in the world but it just wasn't meant to be. Then he dated and eventually married another Jennifer: Jennifer Garner who had three of his children before he cheated on her with the nanny. Our hearts broke for Garner as she tried to pick up the pieces of her marriage but the Gone Girl actor didn't seem to be trying as hard. Now he's dating Lindsay Shookus (though the two are said to have been hooking up on the sly). Shookus is a producer for SNL and it looks like Affleck isn't interested in dating celebs anymore. Maybe this time he'll be able to make it work and, you know, not cheat.
8 Jessica Chastain
Jessica Chastain's husband, Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo, may look like a model but he's not. He does work in the fashion industry through but as an executive at Moncler. He may not be a celebrity but he is royalty which is even better! He is really a count and his royal roots go back a thousand years in the Italian province of Bergamo. Not bad! Though Chastain hasn't had any confirmed relationships with celebs (she had a rumored relationship with Tom Hiddleston), she has said in interviews that she doesn't like to date celebrities because she doesn't want anymore fame. She told Telegraph, "If you want to be really famous, then date another famous person." To be fair, most of us would take the sexy, royal Italian executive over a celebrity any day.
7 Rihanna
After two separate relationships with Drake, an abusive relationship with Chris Brown, and other past relationships with Travis Scott and Leonardo DiCaprio, Rihanna is taking a page out of Jessica Chastain's book and moving on with a hot, wealthy guy from overseas. Hassan Jameel is a Saudi Arabian business professional and apparently he's been hooking up with the "Diamonds" singer for a few months now. Sure, Jameel is cute but here's the kicker: he's also a billionaire. Though he has dated at least one celeb before, namely Naomi Campbell, he's not actually a celebrity himself which makes him perfect for Rihanna who seems to be totally over dating other celebrities. How can you turn down a cute guy who also happens to be a billionaire?
6 Justin Bieber
After his high-profile relationship was with Selena Gomez came to an end, Justin Bieber seemed to go off the deep end and his heart has never been able to get over her. Though Gomez has since moved on with The Weeknd, the Biebs just can't seem to stop talking about her and dissing her new boyfriend. He's dated Sofia Richie and has been rumored to have hooked up with Kourtney Kardashian, Rita Ora, and Adriana Lima. Though recently he has turned his attention mostly to Instagram models such as Hailey Baldwin, Sahara Ray, Jayde Pierce, and Gabriella Lenzi. Another high-profile relationship just seems like too much for the "What Do You Mean?" singer to handle. It almost makes you miss the little kid with the side-swept bangs and no tattoos that he used to be.
5 Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga had one taste of dating (and being engaged to) a celebrity and she didn't seem to like it. She and her actor boyfriend Taylor Kinney who stars in Chicago Fire, were engaged for a brief period of time and the two seemed very much in love. However, the two split up and, even though he is a minor celebrity, it may have been just too much for her to handle. She has since moved on with Christian Carino who is an agent to Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, and Harry Styles. Carino may not be a celebrity but he is a big time Hollywood big shot. Dating a big time Hollywood agent has all of the perks of dating a successful person in the industry without having to deal with the annoying byproducts of fame and celebrity. Lady Gaga is definitely better of this way.
4 Kristen Stewart
Kristen Stewart has taken a page out of Leonardo DiCaprio's book and has gone from dating big Hollywood stars to hooking up with hot models. She once dated co-star Robert Pattinson in a very high-profile relationship then was caught hooking up with her Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders but before that, she dated Michael Angarano for three years. She has since dated Soko, Alicia Argyle, St. Vincent, and she is now in a relationship with model Stella Maxwell. Maxwell was not at all famous until she and Stewart started dating and the Personal Shopper actress probably likes it better that way. After all of the press that she got while dating R-Patz, she deserves a chance to have a relationship that is more low-key. Especially since, near the end of their relationship, they stayed together because their relationship had been turned into a product to sell their movies. Very sad.
3 Jake Gyllenhaal
Since Jake Gyllenhaal dated Taylor Swift back in 2010, his love life has stayed out of the tabloids for the most part. That's probably because his love life has been kept under wraps for awhile now as he seems to be more focused on his career than dating. His last confirmed relationship was with Alyssa Miller but it ended in 2014. Though there are many people who believe he's gay (because, of course, any guy who is not an overly masculine womanizer must be gay) it seems that he is just not interested in dating celebrities, at least not big celebrities. Since he dated Kirsten Dunst, Reese Witherspoon, and eventually Taylor Swift he probably likes staying out of the spotlight like his sister, Maggie Gyllenhaal. He's career-oriented which makes him even hotter.
2 Mariah Carey
Before Mariah Carey famously dated Nick Cannon, she dated Derek Jeter (honestly, who hasn't), Eric Benét, and Eminem. After dating so many celebrities, she set her sights on James Packer who is famous in Australia for being the richest man in the country. The two were engaged but their relationship didn't last long. Moments after the two broke up, Carey went on to date her dancer and choreographer, 34-year-old Bryan Tanaka. Though Tanaka wasn't famous beforehand, the whole world (or at least the handful of people who tuned into Mariah's World) knew who he was as they watched the relationship blossom. However, this relationship wasn't mean to last either and the two called it quits soon after they started dating. It seems pretty obvious that Carey is only interested in dating non-celebrities from now on.

Charlie Hunnam has described his marriage to his ex-wife, Katharine Towne, as "three painful, expensive years." Ouch. The two originally met when they were both trying out for a part on Dawson's Creek and they were married soon afterwards in Las Vegas. The marriage was over in 2002 and the Pacific Rim actor went on to date other actresses such as Rashida Jones before he met Morgana McNelis in 2007 and the two have been together ever since. McNelis is not an actress and she is not even involved in Hollywood at all. Instead, she's a jewelry designer and the two lovebirds live on a ranch with donkeys, chickens, and a big organic garden. How adorable is that? These two are perfect for each other since the Hollywood life is just not their style.
