Everyone seems to have an opinion on Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. This couple is probably one of the most talked about in history, and so it makes sense that there's a lot of talk about them. But in all fairness, neither Kim or Kanye does anything to quell the flames of media attention. In fact, they fuel the fires, doing things and saying things that seem to get everyone reacting in the strongest possible way. If it's not something that Kim Kardashian is doing, then it's something that Kanye has done or said. You can say what you like about these two, but you can't deny one simple fact: They know how to stay relevant.
Lately, a lot of celebrities have been speaking out against Kanye and Kim's marriage, openly criticizing them and what they seem to stand for. Kanye has been in the news recently after going on twitter rants, aligning himself with unexpected people and the creation of his new album. Kim has always been in the spotlight, but it's clear after her recent actions on Twitter and in the media, she too as aligned herself with the same people as Kanye, and supports him 100%. As the power-duo of the century, it's only natural that celebs would have something to say. Whether it's good or bad, as Kim would say, all publicity is good publicity. We can only imagine all these celebs speaking about her and her husband just fuels her fire.
17 Brody Jenner Spoke Out After Not Being Invited To Their Wedding
Brody Jenner is, of course, the step-brother of Kim Kardashian, and he's definitely had his fair share of time in the spotlight, popping up in the Kardashian-centered reality TV shows every once in a while, and occasionally speaking out on social media. But one instance where he appeared to take aim at Kim K and Kanye was after their wedding, which he was reportedly not invited to.
At least that's what he seemed to insinuate with one of his quotes. And it got pretty heated between them both at one point...
People quoted Brody Jenner as saying about the wedding between the two stars: “I’m very happy for them, but do you think that they were really like, ‘We have to have Brody and Kaitlynn [Carter, his girlfriend] there. If they’re not there then this wedding is not going to happen.’ Nobody really gave an [expletive] if Kaitlynn or I went.”
Kim K responded by saying: “I don’t know why Brody is still talking about this. We were very strict about our wedding. There were less than 200 people there. Everyone else respected that – it’s not a big deal. We love our stepbrothers. It just seems like they are always talking about this divide.”
16 50 Cent Criticized Both Of Them
Like Jay-Z, 50 Cent is a natural rival to Kanye West, and although the two have worked together in the past and seem to get along pretty well in public, there is definitely some tension between these two. 50 Cent isn't the type of person to hold back his words, and like Kanye, he is a man of strong opinions. You could say that the two rappers have a lot in common, but 50 Cent is quick to point out the differences between them. In one instance, he seemed to poke fun at the way that Kanye West was describing his wife, implying that she was not as perfect as he would have everyone believe. He even used the phrase "One man's trash is another man's treasure" to describe Kim Kardashian.
Pop Crush posted an article detailing 50 Cent's response to a song by Kanye West Called "Perfect [Woman]" which was written about Kim Kardashian. 50 Cent stated: "If a man feels like she perfect, then she’s perfect. He could mean it and you’ll end up singing the words to it because he’s Kanye. You know how it is? One man’s trash is another man’s treasure." Clearly, he was not painting the couple in a positive light.
15 Sarah Michelle Gellar Cancelled Her Vogue Subscription Because Of Them
Sarah Michelle Gellar is a woman who requires no introduction, and she will be pretty familiar to all of you 90s and 00s kids out there. She was, of course, the lead actress and the driving force behind the hit series Buffy The Vampire Slayer. This show was huge, and the actress went on to do a lot more interesting things with her career. Her fame has waned slightly in recent years, but she has figured out how to use Twitter. That much is obvious because Sarah Michelle Gellar's tweet in response to Kim and Kanye's Vogue cover went completely viral. Let's just say that she wasn't overly impressed with it.
People posted an article about Sarah Michelle Gellar's response to the cover of Vogue magazine, and the Buffy star tweeted:
“Well……I guess I’m canceling my Vogue subscription. Who is with me???”
She was hardly alone in her reaction to the magazine cover. A lot of people expressed their displeasure at the cover, with some even parodying the image by photoshopping it. One thing was undeniable though, this really was the most talked about couple. It's just another example of a celebrity speaking out against Kanye and Kim's relationship and marriage...
14 Snoop Dogg Spoke Out About Their Marriage
Snoop Dogg is a legend in the music community, and his words are always closely followed by both the media and other artists. He was instrumental in building the Hip-Hop genre into what it is today, and he's widely respected within that scene. But when Kanye started voicing his opinions, Snoop Dogg took it upon himself to personally criticize not just Yeezy, but also his wife Kim Kardashian, and their entire marriage in general.
Hollywood Life reported that Snoop Dogg seemed to insult Kanye and more specifically, his wife when he posted on social media:
“The evolution of Jay-Z and Kanye show you how influential your wife can be to your life."
Later, Hollywood Life posted another article which quoted another, clearer insult from Snoop Dogg. He spoke out in an interview and said about Kanye: “I thought he needed some medical attention, first and foremost. I started feeling sad for him. He truly misses his mother. He truly misses a black woman in his life. He truly misses the stability of having somebody telling him when he’s wrong and correcting him and checking him as opposed to allowing him to continue to do what he’s been doing.” Hollywood Life suggested that this was yet another insult aimed at Kim Kardashian and that he seemed to imply that Kim Kardashian was to blame for her husband's behavior.
13 Taylor Swift Hinted At Them In One Of Her Songs
We all know that when it comes to celebrity feuds, there are few more famous right now that the conflict between Taylor Swift and Kanye and Kim K. They've been at it for years, and we've all seen the videos of Kanye West interrupting Taylor Swift's speech and the drama that came along as a result. Well, as it turns out, Taylor Swift has no problem with striking back against what she perceives to be insults - or at least that's what everyone is saying.
Rap-Up reported that TMZ insiders claimed that Taylor Swift had written portions of her song, "Look What You Made Me Do" as a direct attack on Kanye West and Kim Kardashian. In particular a part of the song where she sings:
“I don’t like your little games. Don’t like your tilted stage / The role you made me play / Of the fool, no I don’t like you.”
It seems like she was talking directly about the couple that she's been feuding with for so long now.
While it might seem like the conflict is pretty much between Kanye and Taylor Swift, we all know that Kim Kardashian has willingly become part of the discussion when it comes to the arguments between these two.
12 Drake Rapped About Them
Another person who had some arguments with Kanye was Drake. While you might not be aware that these two were feuding, the fact is that there have been some major arguments between these two, largely expressed through song. Fans of the Hip-Hop scene will undoubtedly be well aware of this. It all started with Drake's feud with Pusha T, who has been writing lyrics aimed at Drake, and Drake has been responding in kind. Because Pusha T is signed to the same label as Kanye, Yeezy is being brought into the discussion and has found himself the target of many insults and insinuations.
As Billboard reports, Drake also used his music to attack Kanye and Kim K, in the song "Duppy Freestyle," in which Drake raps: "Tell ’Ye we got an invoice comin’ to you/ Considering we just sold another 20 for you." Here he is implying that Kanye's "Daytona" will sell an additional 20,000 copies because of Drake's involvement with it. After some encouragement, Drake actually did send Kanye West and his record company an invoice for services rendered, in the amount of $100,000.
In the grand scheme of things, however, this is hardly a major concern for Kanye, and he has been staying out of it without really replying or responding to these attacks. At least, that's where we stand right now.
11 Jay-Z Commented About Kanye And His Personal Life
Probably one of the most famous feuds that Kanye has ever been involved in was the one between him and Jay-Z. These two men have been incredibly successful in the Hip-Hop genre, and as such we might've expected they would eventually turn on each other. When Kanye first started to express his opinions, it was in the same breath that he addressed his feud with Jay-Z on stage. But Kanye hasn't been the only one talking, and Jay-Z has been talking about him and his family life at length.
In Touch Weekly quoted Jay-Z as saying:
"It's not even about Kanye, it really isn't. His name is there, just because it's just the truth of what happened. But the whole point is 'You got hurt because this person was talking about you on a stage.' But what really hurt me was, you can't bring my kids and my wife into it. Kanye's my little brother..."
"...He's talked about me 100 times. He made a song called 'Big Brother.' We've gotten past bigger issues. But you brought my family into it, now it's a problem with me. That's a real, real problem. And he knows it's a problem. He knows that he crossed the line. I know him. He knows. I know he knows, because we've never let this much space go between one of our disagreements, and we've had many because that's who we are. That's what I like about him. He's an honest person, he's open, and he'll say things and he's wrong a lot of times and he'll confront it."
10 Perez Hilton Criticized Both Of Them
Perez Hilton is one of the most famous bloggers in the world, and he is often one of the first people to comment on celebrity drama and entertainment world. His website is a massive form of information and hot news. So it should really come as no surprise that after Kanye's opinions were voiced, he was one of the first to comment personally, adding to the barrage of comments criticizing the famous rapper. But perhaps most notably, Perez Hilton did not limit himself to just criticizing Kanye West, but also targeted his wife, putting them in the same boat. Perez Hilton posted on Twitter: "Kanye is starting to come across as a cult leader. I’m not even joking. And Kim has drunk the Kool-Aid!"
In response to comments such as the one by Perez Hilton, which seemed to attack Kanye's state of mind, Kim Kardashian Tweeted: "Mental Health is no joke and the media needs to stop spitting that out so casually. Bottom line." Kanye later posted a comment that seemed to show solidarity with his wife, stating: "my wife just called me and she wanted me to make this clear to everyone. I don't agree with everything Donald does. I don't agree 100% with anyone but myself."
9 Ice T Is "Done" With The Couple
In many ways, there are many similarities between Ice T and Kanye West. Both have made a huge name for themselves, and both have been involved in their fair share of controversy. Ice T is much older now than he once was, and he has lived one hell of a life. After becoming a successful musician, he was once embroiled in controversy after releasing a song that seemed to glamorize the death of police officers. Coincidentally, he has received widespread recognition for his portrayal of a police officer on NBC's Law And Order: Special Victims Unit. Kanye West might not have gone into acting, but he has successfully turned his music career into much more than that - a brand.
It would seem that the two have a lot in common, but after Kanye voiced his opinions on Twitter and TMZ any perceived similarities between the two went right out the window. And that was made abundantly clear by Ice T himself. In the wake of the controversy surrounding Yeezy, Ice T Tweeted simply:
"This is outta control. I'm DONE."
But not before he criticized Kanye and seemed to imply there was something wrong with his mental state. We take it these two, are no longer friends (if they were ever friends in the first place).
8 Ray J And Chris Brown Released A Track Aimed At The Couple
Ray J is one name that will probably be forever associated with Kim Kardashian, and not entirely in a good way. We all remember that these two used to be intimate with each other, and we all remember what came out of that relationship. This was one controversy that put Kim Kardashian on people's radars for the first time, and it's easy to forget that now, with the insane amounts of fame that Kim K and her entire family have achieved. But Ray J is not content with being part of Kim K's past and teamed up with Chris Brown to release a track aimed at both her and Kanye West.
According to Pitchfork, one of Ray-J's tracks, featuring Chris Brown, referenced Kanye and Kim K's relationship, and claimed that the whole reason she got famous in the first place was that of her relationship to him.
The track was called "Famous," and it referenced certain, for a lack of a better word, famous things that Ray-J did with Kim K.
This was in response to being featured in Kanye's own music video, of a song which was also called "Famous." This was, of course, the video which featured Kanye West sleeping naked with sculptures of other famous celebrities.
7 Azealia Banks Went On A Tirade Against Kim
Another celebrity who directly attacked Kim K and Kanye West's marriage was Azealia Banks. We all know that she's a pretty outspoken person and one that is not shy about voicing her opinion. Back in April, Kim K tweeted in her husband's defense: “Kanye will never run in the race of popular opinion and we know that and that’s why I love him and respect him and in a few years when someone else says the same exact thing but they aren’t labeled the way he is and you will all praise them! Kanye is years ahead of his time."
And as Hollywood Life reported, Azealia Banks replied directly to Kim K by saying: “No @kimkardashian Kanye is not ahead of his time. I said alllll of these things during the election. I had an actual reason for it." She continued, saying: "Nothing at all profound, necessary or eloquent about anything your husband says. I wish you would make him read a book cover to cover before you send that black man into a world of white people with such base level theories as well as his very limited vernacular as pertaining to anything of the pseudo-intellectual things he tries to say. Kanye will never be the [leader of the country] and you will never ever be the First Lady. Give it up sis."
6 Amber Rose Hit Back At Kanye And Kim
Amber Rose is another celebrity who spoke about the relationship between Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, although to be fair she was provoked into speaking out by Kanye first. Amber Rose was, of course, a woman who dated Kanye West for years before he finally started dating Kim Kardashian, a fact that Kanye West decided to bring up and talk about.
Billboard quoted Kanye West as saying: "If Kim had dated me when I first wanted to be with her, there wouldn't be an Amber Rose. It's very hard for a woman to want to be with someone who's been with Amber Rose… I had to take 30 showers before I got with Kim."
In response, Amber Rose said: "Wait 30 showers? But Kim let RayJ [Explicit]... Never mind." She then tweeted that this was "my moment to let the world know who u really are and the things you've done to me. We once loved each other so I won't do u like that." She finished by saying:
"I'll leave that up to the Kartrashians to humiliate u when they're done with u."
It would seem that both parties give as good as they received, and we're betting that a reunion is pretty much impossible between these two.
5 Rhymefest Caused A Huge Controversy
One of the biggest feuds recently has been between Rhymefest, Kanye, and Kim K. Rhymefest has been accusing Kanye of abandoning an organization called Donda's House, which was a charity aimed at helping the youth of Chicago. But as Kim K pointed out, there was much more to this picture than meets the eye.
In that same Billboard article, a much bigger feud was explored between Kanye and Kim, and Rhymefest. Rhymefest jumped into the Drake conflict by tweeting: "@Drake when G.O.O.D. Music sends the money they owe you, will you please help us rebuild Kanye’s mother's house for the youth of Chicago. I spoke to Kanye about it. His response was '[expletive] the youth of Chicago.'"
In response, Kim Kardashian tweeted back: "U haven’t been right since u got kicked out of the studio in Hawaii wearing fake Yeezy’s @RHYMEFEST You’re over leveraging Kanye’s name & asked Kanye to donate money to u so stop w your fake community & lies. Truth is you haven’t been able to sustain the foundation." She also pointed out that Kanye was paying Rhymefest to run the organization, and once the organization started to fail he stopped paying him but allowed Rhymefest to take direct control of the organization. Kim K was suggesting that because of this, the failures of the organization were completely the responsibility of Rhymefest and no one else.
4 Wendy Williams Went On A Rant About Kim And Kanye
Wendy Williams is, of course, one of the most well-known celebrities today, and the driving force behind her own extremely popular talk show, entitled simply Wendy. On this show, she talks about anything she really feels like, and although she often has guests, she also regularly talks to the audience directly about issues that she feels strongly about. Not too long ago, one of those issues that she raised was Kanye West and his perceived erratic behavior.
She also mentioned Kim Kardashian, and even seemed to imply that Kanye's seemingly abnormal actions and words were the results of his marriage to Kim Kardashian.
Too Fab quoted Wendy Williams as saying: "Kanye West has really lost his mind. And I don't mean that in a humorous way. We've seen him on a slippery slope for a long time. This is really sad, you all. In the last week, he's tweeted 112 times. Plenty of people do that, the problem with his is that they're rants, his thoughts about God, his thoughts about slavery is a mentality, he talked about supporting right-winger Donald and the Donald supporters. He's talking about deprogramming, he wants to deprogram people. It's just a slippery, slippery slope. He hasn't been the same since he married Kim [Kardashian]."
3 Rosie O'Donnell Also Lashed Out At Kanye
Someone who is famously anti-Donald is Rosie O'Donnell. And it should really come as no surprise that when Kanye started tweeting things such as his signed "MAGA" hat, she was one of the first to respond... And not in a positive light, either. As reported by Us Weekly, Rosie O'Donnell tweeted simply: "he needs a doctor" in response to Kanye's views. It's clear that she did not think highly of him, especially after her own personal row with Donald himself.
In response to people such as Rosie O'Donnell tweeting out their opinions of Kanye, Kim Kardashian also Tweeted: "Now when he spoke out about Donald... Most people (including myself) have very different feelings & opinions about this. But this is HIS opinion. I believe in people being able to have their own opinions, even if really different from mine. He never said he agrees with his policies." She continued, "To the media trying to demonize my husband let me just say this... your commentary on Kanye being erratic & his tweets being disturbing is actually scary. So quick to label him as having mental health issues for just being himself when he has always been expressive is not fair." It's clear that she is ready to defend her husband.
2 John Legend Texted Kanye With Some Harsh Words
While many who were not friends to Kanye spoke out against him, a few of his actual friends also made their opinions heard. According to Buzzfeed, one of the first people to contact Kanye West after he voiced his strong opinions was John Legend. This is the husband of Chrissy Teigen, and this couple is actually very good friends with both Kanye West and Kim Kardashian. John Legend did not address Kanye publicly via Twitter or other social media - he messaged Kanye directly. But Kanye made the interesting move of posting screenshots of this conversation publicly, allowing us all to read exactly what John Legend said to Kanye. As you can see, John Legend reminded Kanye of his massive influence over the world, and then Kanye accused John Legend of using fear as a tactic to "manipulate" him.
In that same Buzzfeed article, Kim Kardashian was quoted as defending her husband on Twitter from people such as John Legend, who seemed to have taken Kanye's opinions as such a personal affront.
She tweeted: "He’s a free thinker, is that not allowed in America? Because some of his ideas differ from yours you have to throw in the mental health card? That’s just not fair. He’s actually out of the sunken place when he’s being himself which is very expressive."
1 Barack Obama Seemed To Criticize The Couple
People were pretty amazed when Barack Obama made the odd choice of targeting Kanye West and Kim Kardashian in a recent interview. The ex-leader is, of course, a huge figure, and when he talks, people generally listen. He has been outspoken on all kinds of issues, and when he started to mention Kim Kardashian and Kanye West by name and seemed to insinuate that their lifestyle was not setting a positive role model for young children. Of course, these comments caused a huge response all around the world and on social media.
The Guardian quoted Barack Obama as saying: "I don't think people went around saying to themselves: 'I need to have a 10,000 square foot house,'" Obama reflected of his own childhood. "We weren't exposed to things we didn't have in the same way kids these days are. There was not that window into the lifestyles of the rich and famous. Kids weren't monitoring every day what Kim Kardashian was wearing, or where Kanye West was going on vacation, and thinking that somehow that was the mark of success."
Kris Jenner replied, as quoted by the same article, by saying: "I find it so odd that he's picking on Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. I wasn't aware that we could only set the bar so high, and only dream so big." She also mentioned that Barack Obama lives in a massive house himself, which probably had more square footage than theirs.
