Time to take a break on Ryan Gosling for just one second. Older men can be just as hot as their younger counterparts. Plus, there is just something that make them seem a little more debonair than the younger guys our own age. They carry themselves with a sense of dignity which can be super attractive. Not to mention, they have loads of life experience to share and more interesting stories to tell. They could even teach you a lesson or two. You feel as if you can never date anyone your own age after having spent time with someone who seems more sophisticated and accomplished.

Though these celebrities are silver foxes that we merely fantasize about, know that there are good looking older men that you can meet in real life. Even the ones that you see on TV can seem more mature, easier to talk to and all-around having their life together. Some of them started out as our high school crushes at a younger age, and they still are to this very day. Like wine, there are a few men (and women for that matter) that just seem to get better with age. Check out our top ranked silver foxes that light up the screens (and our libidos).

16 Matt LeBlanc

To start off, I think we can all agree that even when we were 8 years old, Joey from Friends stole our hearts. Our moms probably had the hots for him and it just rubbed off on us (along with those doctors from ER which came on after Friends). Matt LeBlanc has always had that adorable, Italian boy-next-door quality that you can always count on to make you laugh. He is just that classical stud that no straight woman would ever turn down. Though his dark hair has turned grey, he still seems to retain that boyish charm. That clueless pretty boy that we used to see every week since our childhood seems like he could still light up any room.

15 Daniel Craig

This guy is more like the guy that your dad or boyfriend secretly wish they could be gay for. They may actually find him more appealing than you do! In any case, Daniel Craig is still a rugged, type-A kind of guy (or so he seems like that in all of his James Bond roles). He is not exactly the most conventionally handsome guys, but those ice blue eyes and bad**s flair sure makes up for that. This is the type of silver fox that would be hanging out at a martini lounge in real life, very similar to Bond. He will probably invite you out for a shooting lesson to see if you could be his leading Bond girl. This probably won't happen in real life, but we can pretend.

14 Russell Crowe

When Gladiator first came out in 2000, even your grandma was feigning over this guy. She was probably showing the nurse those glossy pictures out of a magazine and they both fell in awe. Though Russell Crowe seems to have put on a bit of a dad bod within the last few years, he still knows how to clean up for the red carpet. Though he may have gone from being the leading man to the wise older guy behind the leading man, Russell Crowe still has it going on. He has not only proven himself silver fox status, but has Oscars to prove his acting talent. On top of that he has still got that sexy Aussie accent that we don't hear often enough from leading actors. What is not to like here?

13 Patrick Dempsey

How can someone possibly play a doctor on TV and not be hot AF? Whether or not you got on the Grey's Anatomy train in high school, we can all agree that any one of us all tuned in for McDreamy. His role as Dr. Derek Shepard put him on the map as our illusory doctor that we secretly hoped to see at our next check-up every Sunday night. After an 11 year run on a successful show, fans were crushed when his character was killed off. After that role, the 50 year old stud returned to to his hometown in Maine for a more chill lifestyle. But we still secretly wish to see his face every time we hear "turn around and cough."

12 Viggo Mortenson

When the Lord of the Rings trilogy came out, sure it was Elijah Wood that took the leading role. Let's not kid ourselves though, it was the heroic Danish stud by the name of Aragon who we all tuned into. Those big screens and close-up battle scenes were designed for us to swoon over. Not only is Viggo Mortenson an actor, but also an author, musician, photographer and painter. Basically, just an all around talented artist. This 58-year-old (though he looks barely 40) has played the ultimate silver fox in Easter Promises as a ruthless, mysterious Russian mob boss. His accent may not have been his real one in that movie, but still sexy if you like your men with a streak of danger.

11 Gerard Butler

This 47-year-old Scottish actor had his breakout hit in 2006's 300. (Prior to that, he starred alongside Emmy Rossum in Phantom of the Opera). Half clothed the entire time and having that aggressive edge as the King Leonidas of the Spartans, there was just something very primal about his sex appeal. His roles since then make you very swiftly forget that he is over 40. Originally, his intention was to be a lawyer before becoming an actor, making him an educated silver fox. After what he describes as having "the luck of the devil" and getting fired from his job in Scotland, he made his way to America and stumbled on success as an actor. This ended up being a blessing in disguise, clearly.

10 Vincent Cassel

There is just something about those French men. Vincent Cassel has been around for years starring in indie and arthouse films before breaking into mainstream roles in American film. His jagged bone structure and edgier persona make him an unconventionally handsome silver fox. He was married to the gorgeous Italian actress, Monica Bellucci, who he met on the set of Irreversible (a film which captured much controversy). After that divorce, he is now officially back on the market. His supporting role as Natalie Portman's ballet instructor in Black Swan made us look at ballet in a whole different light. Who knew that ballet could seem so masculine and sexy? Only this man could pull that off. Oh yeah. And he also starred alongside Viggo Mortenson in Eastern Promises, so that adds bonus points for bad boy status.

9 Taylor Kinney

Okay, so Taylor Kinney has to be the youngest one on our list. At the ripe age of 35, he hardly counts as being that "hot older guy", but his prematurely grey hair still qualifies him as a silver fox (well, technically). What is so captivating about his charm is that he seems so humble and a bit reserved in interviews. From his breakout role as Mason Lockwood in Vampire Diaries to that stereotypical hunky fireman, Lieutenant Kelly Severide in Chicago Fire, we are counting our lucky stars that he is single again. Lady Gaga must really be kicking herself after a failed one-year engagement with this adorable stud. Watching him put out fires almost makes us want to set fire to our own homes if that means Taylor Kinney will be coming to the rescue.

8 Clive Owen

Clive Owen seems like the quintessential hero that you can count on to save the day. At least, that is what his movie roles seem to consistently portray. Starring often as a tough guy with a damaged soul, he has a rugged appeal. Roles like in Children of Men and Sin City seem to put him in fast-moving nighttime scenes where your adrenaline is racing and he is your only hope for making it out in one piece. The 52-year-old actor was nominated for an Oscar as Best Supporting Actor in the 2005 film Closer, where he plays an honest-yet-thuggish doctor. The scene with him and Natalie Portman isolated in one of the backrooms of the strip club she works at is unforgettable and tantalizing. If that doesn't make you want to switch places with her, then nothing will.

7 Rob Lowe

Rob Lowe has played a bad-boy eye candy type of role all throughout the '80s in classic hits like St. Elmo's Fire, About Last Night and the Outsiders. Him, along with other actors at the time (such as Demi Moore, Emilio Estevez and Anthony Michael Hall) were known as the "brat pack" starring in interchangeable roles in different movies. Now, his looks have barely changed and has been upgraded to being a silver fox on Parks and Recreation. Besides his past and recent funny roles, he has suited up and played political roles in the West Wing and played JFK in Killing Kennedy on the National Geographic Channel. We are not sure which Rob Lowe we prefer: the guy who seems like he will take you into his back office off the clock or the goofy fun-loving dad who has to be out at 5 to pick up his kids. Time might have matured him, but it certainly hasn't aged him.

6 John Stamos

If you don't remember Uncle Jesse from Full House growing up, then you have either been living under a rock or are just seriously deprived. John Stamos just seems to be nothing short of ageless throughout the years. At 53 years old, he can easily pass for still being in his late '30s. I don't know if even the term "silver fox" applies to him because his hair seems to still be dark with a few "salt and pepper" streaks here and there. Nonetheless, this list cannot be complete without at least mentioning him once (or hell, maybe we could even list him twice because he's that hot). Though Full House was a cheesy show and Fuller House is arguably worse, this man is all the reason we ever needed to watch. Enough said.

5 Eric Dane

Ahhh, here is another Grey's Anatomy heartthrob that we had to bump towards the top of this list. From the same people who brought McDreamy, behold...McSteamy. Though his hair was dark during that show's run, Twitter was blowing up with feeds the second he presented at the 2015 SAG Awards with Emmy Rossum. There was just something different about him that time around. You guessed it. It was the grey hair that hadn't been there before. That did not stop women from fawning over him since 2005. Unfortunately, his role on TNT's The Last Ship has been postponed due to his struggle with depression. Though this breaks our hearts, I'm sure there are more than a few of us that would be more than willing to cheer him up out of that rut.

4 Dermot Mulroney

Ever since he starred with Julia Roberts in My Best Friend's Wedding in 1994, Dermot Mulroney has always kind of played that charming jerk that you can't help but fall for anyways. More recently, you can recognize him as Fiona Gallagher's boss-turned-fiancé in Showtime's Shameless. His aloof demeanor and crooked smile have you waiting for any hilarious sarcastic comment. Outside of being an actor, he is an accomplished cello player and musician who plays in a band called Cranky George. This guy isn't exactly in all of the leading roles, but has frequented many smaller roles throughout the years to add a splash of edge of personality. From playing an eligible bachelor to the father of a teenage daughter in Georgia Rule and a sleazy businessman in August: Osage County, this man can adapt to any character.

3 Richard Gere

Richard Gere has been a silver fox since the late '80s. At the age of 67, he has accomplished multiple roles as the sophisticated romantic man who elegant ladies are head over heels for (Julia Roberts seems to have her fair share of this list). Is it just me, or does he always seem to be rocking a tuxedo? Pretty Woman has to be one of everyone's favorite rom com classic even if you are not typically into rom coms. Though he is the oldest dude on our list, he seems like an amazing conversationalist and consummate gentleman. If there is anyone that you would want to spend an evening with over a candlelit dinner delving into deep, philosophical conversations, then Richard Gere is your man. He is a practicing Buddhist and human rights activist. How can you not love a silver fox who is cultured?

2 John Slattery

If you ever watch Mad Men, then you know all about Rodger Sterling. He is that dapper cad in a 3-piece suit walking around the office hitting on women half his age. And he gets away with it. His character even married a secretary who was almost his daughter's age. Why? Because he is the boss (and it was Madison Avenue in the '60s). Alright, so maybe this was just his TV character on the show, but it certainly took a dashing silver fox like John Slattery to fit that bill. The 54-year-old with all white hair (this was probably another premature grey). This actor seems to have a swagger that keeps us on our toes. His salesman charisma and vintage fashion stands out in its own unique right. He teeters the break of being eccentric to being cocky. However, he is possibly the only human being on earth that can get away with it.

1 George Clooney

The man, the legend. Of course, this list is not complete without this grand finale. In fact, George Clooney is the very first name that pops up in most of our heads when we hear, "name a Hollywood silver fox." On top of that, Amal is someone that we all aspire to be. Beauty and brains. No doubt, this guy has good taste in women. It gives us hope that if we marry later in life, it might just be worth the wait. Before meeting her, he lived the bachelor dream on a villa in Italy. In every film and television show he has ever been in, everyone has to pause and watch him in the scene. He is an impeccable actor to top it all off with a stream of blockbuster hits. George Clooney is one of those few stars that will go down in history. Thus, he deserves to be number one on this list.
