Even if you’re not familiar with the Kardashians, everyone has heard of Kendall Jenner! The international supermodel has made a name for herself in the fashion industry apart from her famous, reality TV-centric family. She’s walked the runways for high-profile designers in New York, Milan, and Paris Fashion Weeks and has graced the covers of Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar.
Many fans see Kendall as the more down-to-earth, relatable one of her sisters, but we wouldn’t say she’s perfect. Kendall has done a lot of questionable things over the years that might make you rethink how much of a good role model she actually is.
Thanks to her excellent PR team, many of these things may have flown under the radar. But from racist scandals, substance abuse, and dramatic feuds over boys, Kendall has had her fair share of drama. Check out these things that Kendall has actually done and see if you still think of her the same way afterwards!
16 The Famous Pepsi Commercial
Kendall made the horrible career choice to star in Pepsi’s ill-fated Black Lives Matter commercial. If you didn’t see the ad before it was pulled from the air, it featured Kendall handing a police officer a can of Pepsi in the middle of racial protest, which somehow stopped the chaos. Because Pepsi is totally the solution to the racial tensions in American, right?
The commercial was met with a ton of backlash, with many condemning it for trivializing such an important and relevant issue. Many fans thought it was incredibly insensitive to the Black community and the struggles they’ve gone through and continue to face. However, Kendall has never issued a public apology about the controversial commercial.
Kim Kardashian later revealed that Kendall felt horrible about it. "We're not perfect, but you see these things in the media, like Kendall and [Pepsi], where it hasn't been portrayed right," she said. "I see her at home crying, but in the media she looks another way because she's not addressing it. The team and everyone's telling her not to, and I'm just like, 'This is wrong. You need to speak up.'” We’re sure Kendall does feel bad about the situation, but we should be hearing that from her, not her big sister.
15 She Wore A T-Shirt With A Confederate Flag
Given that Kendall works in the fashion industry, you’d think she’s be aware of the power of your clothes. But she was either totally oblivious to it or didn’t mind when a tank top she was once wearing featured confederate flags. As most people know, those who fought on the confederate side in the civil war wanted to keep slavery around. So, many fans were shocked she’d wear something with racist origins
The muscle tee she was rocking was actually a band t-shirt for Lynyrd Skynyrd, at one time chose the confederate flag to represent their music. The top also included the “southern cross” sign, which has been heavily associated with the Ku Klux Klan. However, upon realizing what the flag stands for, the band has tried to since distance themselves from their former logo. But it looks like the same can’t be said for Kendall!
14 Too Skinny? So What?
While her older sisters are known for their curvaceous figures, Kendall has a very slender frame that’s perfect for the modeling industry. However, the oldest Jenner sister has been known to promote unhealthy eating habits that border on encouraging eating disorders.
One instance in particular was back in February of 2017 when she admitted she painted her living room a certain shade of pink because it’s supposed to encourage you to eat less. WTF! “There’s actually a funny story behind the color of my living room!” Kendall explained on her website. “They [my friends] were telling me there’s a pink room at the exhibit that had an explanation of the color choice. Baker-Miller Pink is the only color scientifically proven to calm you and suppress your appetite.”
She added, “I was like, ‘I NEED this color in my house’ — I then found someone to paint the room and now I’m loving it!” Tons of fans (and professionals) were concerned she would share something like this with and promote such a harmful idea with her younger fans.
13 How Rude!
Like many of her sisters, Kendall has been called out numerous times for cultural appropriation. But the real problem is that she never apologizes for it or seemingly learns from her mistakes. If she’s offending her fans, you’d at least think she’d offer them an apology!
The 22-year old has worn a slew of hairstyles that originated in the black community without giving them proper credit, including dreads braids. She’s also worn things from other cultures that fans have had a problem with, such as bindis, hijabs, and large nose rings typical to Indian cultures.
When she and her sister Kylie released a line of unlicensed t-shirts featuring icons like the Notorious B.I.G, they were once again accused of cultural appropriation. We guess Kendall doesn’t seem to mind that she’s harming people and their culture so long as it results in money in the bank and more followers on Insta.
12 Did She Not Realize What That Was?
Yes, this really did happen. Kendall must have been on something when she shared a photo of a small plastic bag with what looked like to be drugs in it on her Snapchat. She captioned the picture: “This is the cutest little zip lock baggie I have ever seen.”
Fans immediately began pointing out this is the type of baggie used to carry drugs in, most commonly "snow". Many instantly began assuming the brunette must be abusing substances. Kendall was later rumored to be doing the white stuff after a video shared to Snapchat showed what looked like a powdery substance at her graduation party.
However, her big sister Khloe later told fans it wasn’t what it seemed."You guys will make up anything. No! No one was doing [that] at a graduation party in broad daylight with teenagers and 15 production cameras!" she tweeted to her followers, adding in another post, "We aren't as wild as you want to believe. We were taking Jell-O shots though and you have to scrap the rim of the shot glass w ur finger to loosen up the jello in order 2 take it. Just say no to drugs kids! Drugs so not our style."
11 The T-Shirt Drama
Kendall faced a major scandal with her sister Kylie when they released a line of unlicensed t-shirts featuring dozens of musical icons, such as Tupac, Biggie, and Ozzy Osbourne. The girls printed their faces over top of the icons, which many felt was ridiculous and disrespectful since they’re not on the same level as those celebs.
But the real problem was they didn’t have the correct licensing to use the imagery, which means the sales from the t-shirts wouldn’t be going towards the estates of the individuals featured on them. Many people, including celebs, called the girls out for their big mistake.
After the immense backlash, they did pull the t-shirts and Kendall issued an apology on Twitter. “These designs were not well thought out and we deeply apologize to anyone that has been upset and/or offended, especially to the families of the artists. We are huge fans of their music and it was not our intention to disrespect these cultural icons in any way. The tee shirts have been pulled from retail and all images have been removed. We will use this as an opportunity to learn from these mistakes and again, we are very sorry.” The girls might be facing several lawsuits soon related to this incident.
10 Kylie and Justin Bieber Make A Movie
Kendall’s publicist did a good time covering up a shocking home-made video she posted featuring her younger sister Kylie and Justin Bieber. In the video, Kendall and her friends made fun of stereotypes, many of them to do with the African American community. The video showed Kendall and Kylie becoming more excited as men of darker skin approached them (yes, they turned down The Biebs.)
As Jamie LeeLo wrote in a piece for Elite Daily about the cringe-worthy video, “Sure, some people have ‘types’ when it comes to dating, but judging someone solely on their skin color, which this Vine is clearly doing, is wrong and suggests the fetishization of certain races (as evidenced by the Jenners “flocking” toward darker-skinned men). This is a concern for both men and women of color in interracial relationships.” This wasn’t a cool move, Kendall.
9 She Dated A Guy Who Supported Bill Cosby
Dozens of women have come forward in recent years claiming that Bill Cosby had assaulted them- dating back to the ‘80s. Many celebrities have since condemned the once-revered actor and his TV show has stopped playing re-runs on air. But there are still a few stars who continue to defend or celebrate Cosby’s work, including Kendall Jenner’s boyfriend!
Kendall and ASAP Rocky have been rumored to be together since the summer of 2016. They’ve been seen hanging out and getting cozy on the reg since then, so it’s safe to assume the two are dating. But we have to question Kendall’s choice in guys after ASAP defended Cosby in an interview!
“He did so much positive things leading up to one thing, which he was convicted of being innocent for, by the way,” ASAP told Time Out magazine. “People don't even speak about that, You get what I'm saying? All you remember is the 56 woman and all that kind of sh*t. […] Look, I'm not his lawyer, but I do know he's innocent.” The rapper has also said all sorts of questionable things, like calling Black Lives Matter a “bandwagon” movement and saying dark skinned girls shouldn’t wear red lipstick. WTF!
8 She Never Worked Hard For Her Modeling Career
Kendall is an international supermodel who’s made a name for herself apart from her reality TV-centric family. But many fans allege that the brunette wouldn’t have found so much success as a model if it wasn’t for her famous last name and industry contacts (thanks, momma Kris!). While there’s no denying Kendall is gorgeous and can take a great picture, many feel she doesn’t have the same talent as “real” models who started at the bottom of the industry.
Actress and model Rebecca Romijn made headlines over a year ago when she seemingly slammed Kendall and her bestie Gigi Hadid as not being ‘real’ models. She explained that their strong social media presence is what really catapulted their careers. "No one has proven yet that numbers of followers translates to revenue," Rebecca said.
She added, "So it is frustrating. I know a lot of people – legitimate fashion people – can’t stand it." She then added: "[I] hate it that these, you know, social media stars are now the supermodels in fashion. They are not true supermodels." Rebecca later took to Twitter to clarify that her comments weren’t explicitly directed at Kendall or Gigi, but many still felt it was a diss at the famous models.
7 She's Got Some Bad Blood
Taylor Swift has had a lot of boyfriends, so it’s not too shocking that one of her friends would possibly end up dating one of her exes. This happened when Kendall Jenner began dating Harry Styles, who Tay had dated for a brief moment in 2013. Up until this point, Kendall would spend a lot of time with Taylor and her squad, but when she started (allegedly) hooking up with Harry, that’s when things changed!
Around this time, a source shared with OK! Magazine that Taylor found out the hard way that Kenny is a “mean girl.” “Kendall thinks Taylor is too full of herself and a control freak,” they said. “She thinks Taylor pins people against each other. She’s happy to steer clear of her mean-girl games. [However], Taylor thinks she’s been nothing but supportive of Kendall, introducing her to lots of influential people, but Kendall’s so consumed with herself, she doesn’t have time to reciprocate.”
The feud reached an all-time high when Taylor invited Kendall to participate in her ‘Bad Blood’ music video, but Kendall declined the offer! “She could have participated [in “Bad Blood"], she just decided not to,” the source went on. Kendall’s sister Kim later said that she never belonged to Taylor’s squad, so it’s safe to say there’s definitely bad blood between these two stars.
6 She Doesn't Care For Your Service
Given that Kendall has millions saved up in the bank, fans would expect her to have no problem leaving a tip for a server who’d been waiting on her all night. But that wasn’t the case according to an NYC bartender who says she refused to tip him!
The bartender from Baby’s All Right posted a photo of a receipt on Twitter that he claimed was from Kendall, which featured her name and signature at the bottom. What was also noticeable was that she left the tip spot empty on the $24 dollar bill. “Don’t forget to tip your bartender” the server captioned the pic.
Kendall ended up responding to the allegations on Twitter, claiming that the tip section on the receipt was empty because she’d left a tip in cash. She simply wrote, “Damn, I guess next time we won’t tip in cash,” though many felt her response was a bit sassy. However, it wasn’t as harsh as her big sister Khloe’s, who said “People are f*cking pathetic!!!!! It’s always something!”
5 She Was Banned From Uber For Being Rude
Kim Kardashian shocked the world when she tweeted out that Kendall had been banned from Uber! “Ugh I have to drive @KendallJenner around tonight bc she's banned from Uber! Why @Uber?!?! She's a "model" passenger!!!!!” Kim shared with her followers back in August 2016. Many fans assumed she must have been rude or discriminatory to a driver, which would have violated the terms and conditions of the app.
‘Violations of this Community Guidelines could result in loss of your Uber Account. We created these Uber Partner and Rider Standards so that everyone in the vehicle has a shared standard for respect, accountability, and common courtesy,” the terms and conditions section of the app states.
However, it was later revealed that Kendall’s app was reinstated after Kim shared her tweet. “I think Uber reached out to Kendall and fixed the issue!” Kim said the day after. A source also shared with Entertainment Tonight, “[Kendall] has not been banned. It was a minor account issue that is being resolved. While it is being resolved, her account was put on hold. Uber support has reached out.” We still wonder what could have gotten Kendall kicked off the app in the first place!
4 She’s Rude To The Other Models
While Kendall seems friendly and down-to-earth in interviews, she’s reportedly not that nice in person. Several celebs have hinted that the model might not be very friendly at all. Kendall made headlines during the 2015 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show when she reportedly didn’t receive a warm welcome from the other models due to her Diva-ish ways.
“Most of the girls winked or high-fived when they passed each other on the runway… nobody did that with Kendall,” a witness who was backstage at the fashion show told In Touch magazine. “The other girls think that Kendall became a famous model solely because of her family.”
The source added the other models treated her this way because Kendall isn’t too friendly with them. “Kendall is just not a nice girl,” the source said. “[She’s] getting a really bad reputation in the model world.” After the fashion show, some models even called her out online, with one saying she acts “entitled.” Yikes!
3 Other Celebs Say She’s A Mean Girl
Kendall certainly has quite the reputation for not being very nice! It’s not just the models she works with who think she has an attitude problem. Other celebs have hinted that she might be rude in person or acts pompous. Actress Bella Thorne, who’s been known to hang out with Kendall and Kylie on occasion, hinted that neither of them are very nice IRL.
In November 2015, Bella admitted to Seventeen magazine she knows a “mean girl” in Hollywood, though she wouldn’t reveal her identity. “[She’s] very, very mean,” Bella said, “I never say hello to her.” She added, “Her siblings are not mean like she is. It’s just her,” Bella went on. “One of the reasons I don’t like her is because she’s been a billionaire since she was very little, and she’s never had to work for anything in her life.”
Many fans quickly assumed that she was talking about either Kylie or Kendall Jenner since they fit the profile. Bella later took to Twitter to say, “I adore the Jenner girls especially @KylieJenner.” But that doesn’t mean she wasn’t talking about Kendall…
2 She’s Been Incredibly Mean To Her Sisters On TV
Anyone with siblings (especially sisters) know they can and will push your buttons to the extreme, so it’s understandable that Kendall would lose her temper towards her five sisters every now and again. But fans have been appalled by how she’s acted towards her sisters on the family’s reality TV show Keeping Up with the Kardashians on more than one occasion.
During one episode, for example, Kendall refused to let Kylie borrow one of her dresses, which led to a huge fight between the sisters. But it was the way Kendall lashed out at Kylie that was shocking! “You’re just literally the biggest f****ng b*tch I’ve ever met,” Kendall yelled. She then turned towards Kylie’s dogs and said, “I’m sorry your mom is such a c*nt.” If this is how she acts on TV, then imagine how cruel she can be to her sisters in real life. She’s also been known to talk poorly about her sisters in magazines. Not cool!

Of course celebrities have issues and have a right to complain about the things that are stressing them out or upsetting them. But Kendall takes that to an entirely new level when she complains on social media about how ‘horrible’ her extremely privileged life has been.
One incident in particular, which landed the young model a ton of hate from fans as well as fellow celebs, is when she tweeted out: “Just wish things could be easier sometimes.” We’ve all felt that way before, but we’d think twice about complaining it to our millions of followers if we led the same life Kenny does. And Frances Bean Cobain feels the same way! The daughter of the late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love responded to Kendall’s tweet.
She called Kendall a “f*cking idiot” and “self-involved.” In her Twitter rant, she wrote, “Praise good taste & awareness about the state of the world.” She added, “Oh ya, not to mention, CANCER, famine, poverty, draught, disease, natural disasters, Death. Humans are so self-involved.” Then ended with, “Oh shh. There are kids on earth abandoned (and) homeless who forcibly drink contaminated water because clean water isn’t accessible.”
