For some marriage is a time-honored tradition, something that takes time like getting to know each other and spending time together. Usually, you will introduce your family to your new significant other. There is often a dating period in which couples get to know each other usually for a few years. And often there is an engagement period before walking down the aisle and saying ‘I do’ in front of all your family and friends. But for others, it's something that they are doing on a whim and within days of knowing each other. It's a spur of the moment wedding that shocks everyone around them.

And Hollywood marriages are even more different. They are quick and abundant. They can last for a few hours (we're looking at you, Britney Spears) to years. And some celebs are quick to walk down the aisle again and again. But it's still a surprise when you find out your favorite celebrities have gotten married multiple times since we are accustomed to seeing them with their current partners. They probably want us to forget those first marriages, the ones at the beginning of their careers.

Check out the list below of celebs who have been married multiple times, but you probably forgot!

16 Kim Kardashian’s Hollywood Marriages

Kim Kardashian’s been married to Kanye West for a few years now — it's four, to be exact. She’s all about him these days, but who could forget her 72-day marriage to Kris Humphries? No one! But some may have forgotten that she was married before that.

At just 19, Kim married music producer Damon Thomas and they were together for about four years.

No one talks about that marriage anymore, after her dramatic split from Humphries.Kim discussed her super short and very public marriage to Kris on Watch What Happens Live! And the moment she knew it was over, according to ET Online: “When Kourtney and I did New York because I was in that awful cry face with that last marriage I had. That whole situation was just really hard for me.”

She continued, “At the time I just thought, ‘[Oh my God], I’m 30-years-old — I better get this together. I better get married. I think a lot of girls do go through that, where they freak out thinking they’re getting old and all their friends are having kids. So, it was more of that situation. But I knew on the honeymoon it wasn’t going to work out.”

That marriage was uncomfortable to watch on TV, and its demise was evident. Kim rushed that relationship.

15 Jennifer Lopez’s Young Married Love

Jennifer Lopez might be on her way to walk down the aisle for the fourth time with boyfriend Alex Rodriguez, but Jennifer’s been known to be a relationship kind of lady. When she married Marc Anthony it looked like it was the end of Jennifer’s single life. It was already her third marriage but the duo would go on to split. But Jennifer isn’t over love just yet.

Jennifer’s first marriage was to model/actor, Ojani Noa, in 1997. They didn’t last a year before splitting. Then she would go on to marry dancer Chris Judd from 2001 to 2002 and then of course singer Marc from 2004 to 2011 with who she shares twins, Max and Emme.“I do believe in marriage,” Jennifer said in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar. “And I would love to grow old with somebody in a committed relationship. But I’m not forcing anything right now.”

But Jennifer is happy again with former baseball player beau, Alex Rodriguez, who understands her she tells Harper’s Bazaar: “It’s good, it’s healthy; we communicate well. We understand each other’s lives in a way that most other people couldn’t. We both entered the public eye in our early twenties and overachieved right from the start. And that affects every dynamic in your life, from your family to your work to your relationships. We have a similar makeup.”

14 Tom Cruise’s Mission Impossible Marriage

Tom Cruise may have jumped on Oprah’s couch proclaiming his love for Katie Holmes at the time, but marriage would prove to be difficult for the actor. He gushed over his new lady when they first met, according to Radar. “I really just knew. It was an explosion. And she is just magic. And I really think that all men should celebrate their women. They should all jump on couches for them. When you find that woman, you should absolutely be unabashed about it. That’s how I feel about it.”

And there was no shortage of over the top quotes from Katie about Tom either, according to Radar, “From the moment I met him it just felt like I’d known him forever. I was blown away. He’s the most incredible man. He’s so generous and kind, and he helps so many people, and, um, he makes me laugh like I’ve never laughed, and he’s a great friend. Tom and I will always be in our honeymoon phase. Tom is the most incredible man in the world. I was in love from the moment that I shook his hand for the first time.”

The couch-jumping was a viral moment before memes were even a thing.

But the duo eventually called it quits. But Katie’s not his only former wife. Tom Cruise was married to actress Nicole Kidman in the early1990’s before they split up in 2001 and before that, he was married to another actress Mimi Rogers. We all forgot about that one.

13 Drew Barrymore Just Not That Into Marriage

Drew Barrymore was the ultimate child star! She made it big when she starred in the classic movie, E.T. But her life would be bumpy from there on out, with a few failed marriages and some trouble with the law. But Drew cleaned up her act and was on the road to a what she thought would be a forever relationship with last husband, Will Kopelman. They were married in 2012 and soon welcomed two daughters, but the two called it quits by 2016. "It was just like my worst nightmare. I so wanted to raise kids in this ultratraditional way and do everything so the polar opposite of my experience," Drew told Ellen DeGeneres, according to Us Magazine.

“It really is about the tone you set, and you can talk until you're blue in the face, but kids watch what you do every single day of your life, all day long, and that behavior and that example and that love and community and honesty is just, I think, what's making everything feel safe for my kids. And that's really the intention I had as a parent — how do my kids have this incredible sense of, like, freedom inside their heart, because they know I've got them and their dad's got them and the [rest of their family]."Drew was also previously married to Jeremy Thomas in the 1990’s and actor/comedian Tom Green in the early 2000s.

12 Angelina Jolie Mr. & Mrs. Smith No More

Of course, we'll all remember when Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt started dating. Their relationship began when they were cast opposite each other in the movie, Mr & Mrs. Smith, at the time Brad was still married to Jennifer Aniston. “It took until, really, the end of the shoot for us, I think, to realize that it might mean something more than we’d earlier allowed ourselves to believe. And both knowing that the reality of that was a big thing, something that was going to take a lot of serious consideration,” Angelina said, according to People.

But it was on the set of Angelina’s 2015 movie, 'By The Sea', with Brad that she realized there was trouble in their marriage.

"We had met working together and we worked together well," she told W Magazine. "I wanted us to do some serious work together...I thought it would be a good way for us to communicate. In some ways it was, and in some ways, we learned some things." But she added, "There was a heaviness probably during that situation that carried on and it wasn't because of the film. It was something that we were dealing...things happen for different reasons, and things…why did I write that exact piece? Why did we feel that way when we made it? I'm not sure." And they split by 2016 after over a decade together.

Angelina was previously married to Jonny Lee Miller and Billy Bob Thornton. Angelina and Brad share 6 kids together.

11 Halle Berry Monster Marriages

Halle Berry’s been married three times and she also has three divorces under her belt, but she always has good intentions when walking into a relationship. “As women, we go into marriage thinking it’s going to last forever and that this is our prince on a shiny horse. That’s what fairy tales taught me as a kid... and I’m kind of anti-fairytales today. I’ve often felt guilty and responsible. I’ve suffered a lot of pain and anguish,” Halle once said about getting married, according to The Huffington Post. At least she had the best intentions while going into the marriage.

Halle hasn’t had the best luck with relationships. She married Baseball player David Justice in 1993 and then divorced in 1997. She then married singer Eric Benet in 2000. It was during this time that Halle snatched up her first Oscar. She was the first black woman to win the Best Actress Oscar for Monster's Ball in 2002. Sadly she ended her marriage to Wissam soon after welcoming their son, in April 2017 she called it quits with her longtime love. The couple couldn’t quite figure out a compromise of their lifestyle. "Janet and Wissam don't see eye to eye on many things," an insider told E! News: "One of the many divorcing factors was their religious beliefs. Wissam and Janet did not feel that they were on the same page when it came to this and the way they wanted their child to get raised. Janet is more of a free spirit than Wissam. Cultural difference and backgrounds played a major role."

Janet has always been very private when it comes to her relationships and marriages.

When she was just a teen she married singer James DeBarge in September 1984 before getting an annulled in 1985. In the early 1990s, she married dancer/songwriter/director Rene Elizondo Jr. but it wasn’t until the duo split in 1999 that people learned they were even married in the first place. Our wedding didn't change our relationship," Eva said, according to PopSugar, after her wedding.

But Eva has said ‘I Do’ before. She was married to soap opera actor, Tyler Christopher, from 2002 to 2004 and she was also married to the basketball player, Tony Parker, from 2007 to 2011. But she has no regrets from the latter marriage. She said, according to NY Daily News: “I do not regret getting married nor do I regret getting divorced. So many people want me to hate him, want me to destroy him. But I don’t, I wish nothing but the best for him. I want him to be happy. He’s not a bad person. I do believe in forgiving and forgetting.”

She added, “A really good friend of mine said, ‘Hold onto the love and not the loss.’ There was a reason why we got married, there was a reason why we fell in love, there was a reason why we were together seven years. I just choose to hold onto that.” It a good way to look at a negative thing.
