Showbiz isn't all it seems - behind the glitz and the glamour there is a constant battle to stay in the spotlight and remain the public favorite. Jealousy is common amongst A-List stars as they battle for awards, the headline spots at concerts, the lead roles in films and the number one album on the charts. When the competition around you are amongst the best in the world then it's no surprise the green-eyed monster will make a regular appearance.
Singer Ed Sheeran told German news reporters DPA that he suffers from jealousy when watching others perform. He revealed: "I don't enjoy watching other acts perform because I just think 'Oh man, I want to be up there.' That's why I don't enjoy festivals anymore."
To help prove that there is a lot of jealousy amongst celebrities, we have picked out the moments when they let their showbiz smile slip and could express nothing but envy. These huge stars must have forgotten that when there are so many flush bulbs on them - nothing will go unnoticed.
15 Michelle Obama
Michelle Obama was not impressed when her husband, President Barack Obama, was caught flirting with another woman. Danish Prime Minister, Helle Thorning-Schmidt, snapped a selfie with the President but then continued to swap jokes too. The First Lady lived up to the saying: "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned" when she stood up and swapped seats - wedging a gap between them both.
The trio then had no choice but to sit and look all look as miserable as Michelle for the duration of the ceremony. Other world leaders and 80,000 South Africans in Johannesburg joined them to celebrate the life of Nelson Mandela, who died aged 95-years-old in December 2013.
Surprisingly, Michelle is no stranger to the green-eyed monster. In a recent book, Blood Feud by Edward Klein, the author revealed: "It appeared to Oprah (Winfrey) that Michelle was jealous of her, furious that Barack was seeking her advice instead of (hers). For her part, Oprah didn't like being with Michelle, because the first lady was constantly one-upping the president and anybody else around her. ' Well from these pictures, we can certainly see that.
14 Nicki Minaj
Nicki Minaj was far from impressed at the Met Gala this year, when all she wanted was one photo of her and Moschino designer Jeremy Scott, and singer Demi Lovato just had to go ahead and spoilt it. A clearly angered Minaj then had a much nicer photo of the three of them uploaded to Instagram but only tagged Scott - leaving Lovato out in the shade.
In a reply to the blatant snub, Lovato wrote on her Instagram: "When you aren't mentioned in a post but didn't do s**t to the person..." along with "This picture pretty much summed up my first and probably last Met." She also added the hashtag #NotForMe. She also added on the post: "Shade being thrown in this picture actually gives me life."
So Minaj has bullied Lovato out of ever returning to the Met Gala again, if only Lovato would have let Minaj have her moment in front of the photographers instead of third-wheeling the money shot.
13 Sienna Miller
If there is one woman who knows how to spot a husband stealer - it's Angelina Jolie. During a red carpet moment at last year's BAFTAs, she was lucky her man didn't turn around and come face-to-face with the green-eyed monster, actress Sienna Miller. According to Radar Online, Jolie has been furious lately with how close Brad Pitt has been getting with his The Lost City of Z co-star.
An insider revealed: "Sienna really gets under her skin. Brad told her to let him do his job as a producer, and Angelina yelled that she didn’t want him near Sienna." But Sienna claimed she had hardly met the A-List actor and producer. She told In Touch magazine: "So this is the truth about that, Brad Pitt is producing the movie that I just wrapped but I didn't see him, he's not been to the set. You know he's the producer of the film and I've met him twice - it's insane."
They are working together (or in her own words definitly not working together) on his passion project. The Lost City of Z also stars Charlie Hunnam and Robert Pattinson that tells the tale of British explorer Percy Fawcett who went missing with his son under unknown circumstances in 1925 while on an expedition to find an ancient lost city.
12 Lea Seydoux
Perhaps Spectre Bond Girl Lea Seydoux thought there was much more to her steamy scene with Daniel Craig then what met the eye. From the looks she gives his wife of five years, Rachel Weisz, it certainly seems that way. Seydoux revealed this was not the first time she had been in a romantic clinch with the British born actor as she revealed to The Daily Mail: "We both did some screen tests a few years ago for The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. I think I kissed him, but I don't remember."
The French actress also gushed about how much 'chemistry' she had with her heartthrob co-star. She added: "When I started the preparation and rehearsed with Daniel, the chemistry was really fantastic. I really enjoyed being Madeleine and it was a great experience. I’m very glad I met him."
Weisz revealed to More magazine that she prefers to keep her marriage secret and away from the intrusion of the press. She said, "He’s just too famous. It would be a betrayal. You have to protect your marriage." Here's hoping she knows how to protect herself from jealous, young actresses too.
11 Lindsay Lohan
Lindsay Lohan has had quite a colorful love life including a short romance with Mark Ronson's sister, DJ Samantha Ronson, in 2007. The pair seemed like a good match at first but then - in typical Lindsay Lohan style - the cracks began to appear.
Lohan celebrated New Year's Eve with Ronson at Mansion nightclub in South Beach but according to the source behind the video she flew into a jealous rage. Ronson had allegedly been flirting with other girls in the DJ booth and this was not how Lohan wanted to spend her New Years. She can be seen storming into the booth, screaming in Ronson's ear and despite attempts to calm her down - she storms away angrily.
Shortly after the video leaked, the pair separated with Ronson telling The Times that she still loves Lohan however dealing with the paparazzi intrusion (and probably these sneaky videos) all became too much for her.
10 Kristen Stewart
In 2013, when Kristen Stewart and Jennifer Lawrence met on the red carpet at the Academy Awards it was beyond awkward. The two leading ladies had an uncomfortable hug, which is the most we can expect from them, especially as Kristen lashed out J-Law was a "career thief." The two have always been compared as both The Hunger Games and Twilight won over hoards of fans all of the same age. However, Kristen only got a couple of years in the spotlight before Lawrence came along and took her crown.
The National Enquirer reported: "Kristen’s feeling very sorry for herself. Her leading lady status has plummeted, now she stands in the shadow of adorable, super talented, Jennifer Lawrence. Seeing her being worshiped on the red carpet, winning a Golden Globe, and getting nominated for Oscars has really gotten to her." They also added Kristen thought Lawrence had "come out of nowhere" and was a "career thief."
Then to add further fuel to the fire, Kristen Stewart started hooking up with Lawrence's ex-boyfriend, Mad Max: Fury Road actor Nicholas Hoult. It's about time Kristen dropped the envy and realized there's just no beating Lawrence.
9 Katy Perry
It is no surprise to anyone that Katy Perry is jealous of Taylor Swift's success and everyone knows this feud goes back many years. It all started when Taylor got too big for her boots in Katy's eyes and stole her pop crown. In 2014, Taylor’s album, 1989, became the top selling album of the year with 3.66 million copies sold. In comparison, Perry’s Prism album that was released a year sold just under one million copies that year. Katy went to war...
To get her own back on Taylor and becoming reigning pop queen again - Katy pulled a nasty move. She removed three lead dancers from Taylor’s Red tour by offering them work on her Prism world tour. They all agreed. The I Knew You Were Trouble singer confirmed the jealous move when she revealed, "She did something so horrible. I was like, ‘Oh, we’re just straight-up enemies”. She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour. She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me."
Katy tweeted in response: "Watch out for Regina George in sheep’s clothing."
There's no denying Nicki Minaj doesn't have all the right curves in all the right places, so who can blame Rihanna for getting a good eyeful when she had the chance at Jay-Z's Tidal launch. The Bahamian beauty is just as stunning as Nicki but not as blessed in the chest department so we can see why a look of envy crawled across her face.
Although they remain on good terms, the two megastars both share the same romantic interest - Drake. Both have been romantically linked to the Canadian rapper and they both speak very highly of him. Comparing Nicki's Anaconda video and Rihanna's Work video, where they both treat him to erotic lap dances, its hard to figure out who he wants more.
But it appears Nicki is the winner. An insider told Hollywood Life: "There’s no way in the world Drake can commit to any one when Nicki’s posting pictures of herself, filling out her bra and thong the way only she does. The woman is a brick house and Drake would love to live in it! He’s taken screen shots of those images and put one of them as Nicki’s caller ID."
7 Kelly Rowland
We always knew Kelly Rowland was a teensy bit jealous of Beyonce's success since Destiny's Child but she confirmed everything (and much more) with her track, Dirty Laundry. Kelly dropped some serious truth bombs about what its like growing up with Beyonce, who she would often call her sister, and then watching her take all the spotlight.
Kelly Rowland sings on the track: "While my sister was on stage, killing it like a motherf**ker. I was enraged, feeling it like a motherf**ker. Bittersweet, she was up, I was down." The emotional track touched a nerve with Queen Bey, Kelly told Washington radio station 93.9 WKYS: "“She heard how real I was and was like ’I’m so proud of you.'"
The same year the track was released, Beyonce invited Kelly and former Destiny's Child member Michelle Williams on stage with her for the Superbowl half-time show 2013. Just to prove there was no bad blood between them, the trio performed a melody of their hits. Hopefully that should keep Kelly sweet for a while.
6 Kim Kardashian
We have seen Kim Kardashian's range of facial expressions plenty over the years and can spot her fake smile whenever it appears. Not pleased with former enemies, Taylor Swift and her husband Kanye West, in a warm embrace together; Kim just stands awkwardly shooting a cold look at Taylor.
This showbiz feud still continues today as both camps go to war over lyrics from Kanye's latest Life of Pablo album. In his track Famous he raps: "I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex. Why? I made that b***h famous." According to Team Kanye he called Taylor before the album released and asked her permission. After the album launched, Taylor then denied all knowledge that she knew of the lyrics, which caused Kim to lash out and call her a "liar", which then had Taylor fighting back that Kim was "under pressure" to stick up for Kanye. Phew!
The latest news is Kanye is now planning on "epic takedown" of Taylor and will "destroy" every night he is on tour by bad mouthing the Bad Blood singer. With this many enemies its no wonder Taylor has to surround herself with a squad at all times.
5 Prince William
We're not surprised Prince William is secretly jealous of his brother, Prince Harry, having a great relationship with his wife, Duchess Kate Middleton, as they always appear to be having a ball together. The sense of humor William lacks, Harry makes up for by the bucketload and he has often described Kate as the "sister he never had."
A royal source told The Daily Mail, "Harry has plenty of female friends - including cousins Zara, Beatrice and Eugenie - but he is probably closer to Kate than any other woman on the planet." So how does Harry manage to always charm the ladies? The source continued: "He does have a knack of making women, including Kate, feel good about themselves, commenting on what they are wearing, for example. But as Harry once said, Kate is like the big sister he never had."
Kate and Harry also have a shared love for Game of Thrones - hopefully Kate isn't getting any ideas for the future when she becomes the future Queen.
4 Ellen Degeneres
Ellen Degeneres could not hide her envy over Katy Perry's womanly curves at the Grammys 2013. Her wife of eight years, Portia de Rossi, clearly saw the funny side as she tried to stop Ellen from jumping on the Fireworks singer. The photo went viral overnight, with even actress Anna Kendrick commenting: "Ellen Degeneres expressing the inner feelings of every man, women, and child in America." Katy's mint-green, revealing gown has now become one of the more popular Grammy moments to revisit.
Despite Ellen's excitement, the TV talk show host is fully loved up with Portia. She told Howard Stern on his SiriusXM show that they key to their success as a couple is just keeping it simple. She said, "We really don't almost break up, we don't fight, we're madly in love, and I guess it's boring." Well its about time Hollywood had at least one couple we can depend on to stick together for good.
3 Kendall Jenner
Kylie Jenner would not have been happy about her older sister Kendall Jenner outing her out to the press about just how jealous she is. Kendall told Cosmopolitan magazine: "She's a Leo so she loves attention, it bothered her that I was getting attention in terms of my modelling. I think that's a natural younger sister thing - to be jealous." Realising she had dropped her sister in it, Kendall swiftly added: "But now she loves what I do and supports me." Nice cover Kendall, but now we all know that Kylie secretly hates sharing the limelight.
Kendall has walked the runway for many leading fashion designers during the New York, Milan, and Paris Fashion Weeks. Kylie is a success in her own right with a multi-selling cosmetics brand and 64.6 million followers on Instagram - overtaking Kendall by almost 5 million followers. But it appears Kylie won't be happy until she has all the limelight. Here's hoping when she gets older she will realize jealousy gets you nowhere.
Beyonce is one jealous woman and she has revealed it in many of her tracks. On her self-titled Beyonce album, one track is actually called Jealous and she sings: "I'm just jealous. I'm just human. Don't judge me." It was one of the more powerful tracks on the album and fans praised her honesty.
Then on her latest album Lemonade, she sings on the track Jealous: "What's worse - looking jealous or crazy?" The whole album was about how she felt towards Jay-Z and she questioned his loyalty throughout their marriage together. Although she has asked for forgiveness before for this streak of envy now she is done apologising and just accepts its part of her. Her faults also make for funny photos, like above, where she gets caught out checking up on her man.
Women rejoiced everywhere and felt a hell of a lot better knowing that even Beyonce herself, one of the most powerful and celebrated women in the world, gets jealous of others.
1 Sophia Loren
In one of the most famous shots of envy and contempt of all time - Sophia Loren attended a Beverley Hills party to celebrate her rise in Hollywood but was upstaged by the blonde bombshell, Jayne Mansfield.
Loren finally spilled the beans on the story behind the photograph during an interview with Vanity Fair. She said, "Paramount had organized a party for me. All of cinema was there, it was incredible. And then comes in Jayne Mansfield, the last one to come. She came right for my table. She knew everyone was watching. She sat down. I’m staring at her nipples because I am afraid they are about to come onto my plate."
Even nowadays Loren refuses to acknowledge the picture. She added: "Actually, many, many times I am given this photo to autograph it. And I never do. I don’t want to have anything to do with that." After nearly sixty years you would think she'd let it drop that she was upstaged once.
