If you're someone who loves beauty products, then you've experienced the torture of looking through your seemingly endless supply of eye shadow in search of that perfect shimmering bronze you know you purchased at some point. Even when you try to keep things neat and tidy, it doesn't last for long, and your system usually devolves into some kind of organized chaos. You know, one of those things where you have an inventory in your head, but if someone else had to find something, they'd be doomed.

But luckily, there are a lot of quick and painless ways to organize some of your products that won't make you feel like you're re-doing it every other day. Because shoving everything in a makeup bag or two works in a pinch, but you'll just end up having to dump it all when you realize your favourite mascara is most likely at the very bottom.

Nail polish is one of those things that can build up to epic proportions before you even realize how overboard you've gone. You probably don't need eight different shades of purple, but it always seems to happen anyway. With a plastic shoe rack that you can hang on the back of your door, you can organize your nail polishes by color, so you can see that while you probably have enough red, it wouldn't hurt to get another green one. And if one leaks, it won't be a big deal, because the rack is plastic and pretty easy to clean.

Things like lipstick and eye shadow pots are small and can end up making your designated makeup surface look cluttered and unorganized. But if you use an acrylic, see-through jewellery organizer like the one above, you'll be able to see what you're looking for without dumping it all out and making an even bigger mess. They come in lots of different sizes, so you should be able to get one to accommodate your vast collection of every eye shadow shade known to man.

[caption id="attachment_13192" align="alignnone" width="1280"] via: www.cosmopolitan.com[/caption]

There isn't a girl in the world who doesn't wonder every once in awhile where all her bobby pins disappeared to. If you're being honest, they're probably at the bottom of your purse or makeup bag, tangled up in your sheets, and in the pockets of every pair of pants you own. The point is, you never have one readily available when you actually need one. Try attaching a magnetic strip to the inside of your medicine cabinet and putting all our bobby pins there. Then there's no way they can mysteriously vanish, and you won't have to search your entire bathroom for one while holding your perfect up-do in place with one hand.

These days, most women have a hair dryer, a hair straightener, and a curling iron. All that stuff can get pretty bulky, and no one likes tripping over cords all the time. When you aren't using them, put each appliance into its own designated wire magazine holder. That way their cords and respective accessories are contained in one place. You'll be a lot less likely to lose something, and everything will be right where you expect it to be when you want to use it.

Luckily, shower caddies are great not only for in the shower, but for quick, no-fuss shelving under the sink. You can use one caddie for cleaning supplies and another for things like extra shampoo, razors, and tampons. The shelves will help you maximize the space, while also keeping everything clean and organized.

Hair ties are kind of like bobby pins with their tendency to vanish without a trace and be no where to be found when you actually need one. Instead of letting them float around in your makeup bag, keep them all together with a carabineer like the one pictured above. You can get them in any color you want and they don't need to be the sturdy ones used for rock climbing. A simple, lightweight one from the dollar store will do just fine. Unless you have really heavy duty hair ties.

This one might take a little more work, but the result will change your life. All you need are a couple thin sheets of metal (one Pinterest user suggests using lightweight cookie sheets), and some small magnets. Just cover the metal sheets with the paper or fabric of your choosing, then glue small magnets onto the backs of all your makeup products. This works best for things like eye shadows, blush, and powders, so you'll still have to find another solution for your tube shaped products. But now you'll be able to find the exact product you're looking for without digging through a bag or even opening a drawer.

There isn't much a mason jar hasn't been used for these days, so why not use them to store basic bathroom essentials like cotton balls, Q-tips, and makeup remover pads? They'll be right out in the open for guests to use as well, and you'll be able to ditch the ugly, bulky original packaging they all come in. You could also use them for makeup brushes, toothbrushes, bobby pins and hair ties as well. Either mount them on the wall like the picture above, keep them under the sink with lids, or leave a couple right on the counter.

If you aren't the DIY type, simply buying a ready-made acrylic makeup organizer could make all the difference in the world. Somewhere like Bed Bath & Beyond carries a variety of different sizes and styles so you can choose one that will work for the space you have and the products you need to organize. Most of them include a few drawers, and some upright storage for things like brushes and eye liner pencils. This is probably the easiest, most no-nonsense way to organize your makeup, so you really have no excuse.

If you want to keep your makeup brushes somewhere they won't be exposed to dirt, germs, and dust, a straw dispenser is a great option. All your brushes will fit inside upright, and when you want one you just have to pull the lid up and grab the one you're after. Not only will your brushes have a lot less chance of collecting dirt and germs, but the dispensers will fit right into any bathroom decor.

Space is limited while you're traveling, which is exactly why you need to pack extra light and be extra organized. You can't bring every single eye shadow, lipstick, and makeup brush you own, so if you have a small makeup bag, you'll know you have to bring only things that are absolutely necessary. Choose one with a couple different departments that you can organize how you choose, and you'll be surprised by how little you can actually get by on.

1 A basket for extra hair products

[caption id="attachment_13514" align="alignnone" width="1200"] via: www.organizationtothemax.blogspot.com[/caption]

Bottles of hair spray, dry shampoo, mousse, gels, and heat protecting spray take up a lot of space. But we all have a few that we keep in heavy rotation, while other ones we just use for special occasions. So why keep them all out in the open? Instead, keep the two or three products you use the most out on your vanity within reach, and put the rest in a basket to stash under the sink or in the closet until you need them. Usually, with hair products, less is more, so learning to use only a few products will probably become a habit after awhile anyway.
