It's been said that friends come in all shapes and sizes, and time and time again, it's shown to be true. Take a look at your own circle of friends, then take a look just outside of that circle. There is likely a person or two that other people would ask "Really?!" when you explain that they're friends of yours. This isn't always a bad thing, you might just seem so different from that person other people struggle to determine what you might have in common. Truthfully, it's nice to have friends outside of our regular circle because they offer a fresh viewpoint, and they often aren't involved in any of the "drama" going on in your usual group of friends so they can give you unbiased advice on the situation.

If you never explore friendships with individuals who don't appear to have much in common with you, you'll miss out on the opportunity to learn a lot about the world and how people work, as well as the chance to make a lifelong friend... Just ask Tyra Banks and Clay Aiken. So, next time you get an invitation to something by someone you don't normally spend time with, why not just say "yes" and see what happens? Who knows, maybe you could earn your spot on a "Weirdest Friends" list!

15 Tyra Banks and Clay Aiken

[caption id="attachment_3247" align="alignnone" width="1222"] via: http://cdn03.cdn.justjared.com[/caption]

So, Tyra Banks, a world-famous supermodel, and Clay Aiken, the runner-up in the 2003 season of American Idol, walk into a bar... And they become friends! Yup, quite an unlikely pair, but Tyra and Clay have been friends FOR YEARS. Tyra even told the world she's a "Clay-frican American, meaning that I am an African American that loves Clay Aiken." Clay supports Tyra right back, even appearing as a guest-judge on her show America's Next Top Model, as well as multiple appearances on her talk show. The epitome of random, but somehow quite nice!

14 Dennis Rodman and Kim Jong Un

[caption id="attachment_3280" align="alignnone" width="2021"] via:nypost.com[/caption]

Dennis Rodman used to be an NBA basketball star, but these days he's more known for the provocative controversies surrounding him, and his friendship with the North Korean president, Kim Jong Un, is no exception. When Rodman brought a "basketball diplomacy" program to North Korea for North Korean children, he took in an exhibition game with Kim Jong Un, and Rodman told the media after, "Guess what, I love him. The guy's really awesome." Rodman's friendship with the authoritarian leader is interesting for reasons much greater than their foot and a half height difference. Un is virtually universally regarded as a dictator, and accused of alleged crimes against humanity in North Korea. Rodman got copious flack for their friendship, but insists Un is a good guy and that North Korea is more of a paradise than it is a destitute dictatorship.

13 Chris Brown and Elton John

[caption id="attachment_3249" align="alignnone" width="1000"] via: http://www.mirror.co.uk[/caption]

Most of us wouldn't expect the names Elton John and Chris Brown to be used in relation to each other, but according to the two, they're friends. Chris Brown was convicted of assaulting singer and former girlfriend Rihanna, after a Grammy party in 2009 and ever since, he is a polarizing public figure who has been in trouble a few more times since. Elton John, on the other hand, has enjoyed a long and illustrious career as a musician, and works tirelessly to raise money for AIDS foundations. In 2013, the two were seen palling around at Elton's AIDS Foundation party. After the party, Brown told the shocked media that he,  "met Elton about a year ago, and he’s been a good friend to me."

12 5o Cent and Bette Middler

[caption id="attachment_3251" align="alignnone" width="2000"] via: https://thenypost.files.wordpress.com[/caption]

If you were to draw two names out of a hat containing a plethora of celebrity names, you couldn't hope to draw a pair as random as rapper 50 Cent and iconic singer and actress, Bette Middler. In 2009, the two were seen together at Middler's New York Restoration Project and they were both all smiles and compliments. Middler said of Fiddy, "He is such a gorgeous star - holy cow! He's like the Godfather of Jamaica, Queens. I'd love to collaborate with him, but I'm way [30 years] older than him. I really can't rap, but I'd like to sing in the background on 'Get Rich or Die Tryin'. He's really made my life worth living. [50] has been with me through thick and thin." Wow, there's no shortage of niceties between them, is there? 50 returned the compliments by saying, "Look how beautiful things are and how nice it feels when [I'm around her]." Six years later, we're still waiting on their duet!

11 Tom Arnold and Dax Shepard

[caption id="attachment_3252" align="alignnone" width="1000"] via: http://www3.pictures.gi.zimbio.com[/caption]

They're both funny guys, but Dax Shepard, 40, and Tom Arnold, 56, don't seem like they'd be BFFs. Arnold was famously married to comedienne Roseanne Barr, and they had a wild marriage that was all over the news in the 1990s. Dax Shepard, however, has one of the cutest relationships in Hollywood with his wife, actress Kristen Bell. But Arnold and Shepard are so close that Shepard was even the best man at Arnold's 2009 wedding to Ashley Groussman. The two made further headlines when Arnold revealed that Shepard generously offered to donate his sperm to Arnold and Groussman when they had fertility problems.

10 Demi Lovato and Kim Kardashian

[caption id="attachment_3253" align="alignnone" width="1920"] via: http://wallpaper.pickywallpapers.com[/caption]

Singer and actress Demi Lovato, 22, and television personality Kim Kardashian, 34, consider each other good friends, according to several reports. In 2014, Lovato even credited Kardashian with "revolutionizing our generation's view...of what beautiful is. You can think whatever you want about the Kardashians, but they really did help tons of women feel comfortable in their own skin, and I like to carry that message on." Kim apparently feels just as fondly for Lovato, and in 2012 she sent her this heartfelt message: “Demi, thank you for always being a true friend, for always following your heart and for being an inspiration to me and countless other girls around the world. Your strength and kindness will never go unnoticed. I am looking forward to seeing you grow both personally and professionally even more and to creating many more unforgettable memories together.” It's refreshing and nice to see two powerful women bond in this way!

9 Snoop Dogg and David Beckham

[caption id="attachment_3254" align="alignnone" width="1024"] via: http://www.graziadaily.co.za[/caption]

Snoop Dogg is a successful American rapper and actor, with a career spanning over 20 years in Hollywood. David Beckham is the handsome British soccer star turned fashion icon alongside his wife, Victoria Beckham. Snoop and Beckham appear to have created a close friendship over the years. Snoop speaks highly of Beckham, explaining, "He'€™s a great father, a great husband, and a great friend, I love our friendship and some people in life just come together for some odd reason." Yep, Snoop nailed it on the head with "odd" but it's always good to see people from different worlds come together.

8 Andy Cohen and John Mayer

[caption id="attachment_3255" align="alignnone" width="1920"] via: http://brightcove.canoe.com.edgesuite.ne[/caption]

John Mayer's relationships with different women are usually the ones the media talks about, but when he stepped out with television personality Andy Cohen in 2012, fans of both were delighted to hear the two are actually good friends. They've been spotted together in various locales, and most recently took in a Grateful Dead concert in Santa Clara together in June 2015. When Mayer filled in as guest-host on the Late Late Show earlier this year, he even had Cohen on as a guest, and they proved to the world how endearing and funny they are together.

7 Taylor Swift and Lorde

[caption id="attachment_3256" align="alignnone" width="1024"] via: https://stephosmanski.files.wordpress.com[/caption]

Taylor Swift has a "good girl" image that doesn't seem like it would mesh well with Lorde's apparent teenage angst, but their friendship works! Swift, 25, and Lorde, 18, have a surprising friendship that crosses age boundaries, musical style boundaries, and more, but it's awesome to see two successful girls supporting each other. In fact, when music producer Diplo tweeted, "Someone should make a kickstarter to get taylor swift a booty," Lorde fired back, "should we do something about your tiny penis while we're at it hm." After all, what good are friends if they don't defend your booty over Twitter? Swift appears to think just as highly of Lorde, and regularly shares snaps of them together on Instagram.

6 Justin Bieber and Floyd Mayweather

[caption id="attachment_3257" align="alignnone" width="1222"] via: http://cdn03.cdn.justjared.com[/caption]

Justin Bieber may be world famous, but he's still a young man, and a lot of young men and women are fans of boxing. When it comes to boxing, Floyd Mayweather is probably the best at it in the world right now, so it makes sense Bieber would be fond of Mayweather. Bieber has also walked out with Mayweather at huge matches, literally backing his friend up. The two are also seen on other man-dates together like pedicures, massages, or sometimes more intense things like training together. In 2014, Mayweather even supported Bieber and claimed he is not racist like he was accused of being after footage of a 15-year-old Bieber surfaced that included him telling a racist joke.

5 Russell Brand and Helen Mirren

[caption id="attachment_3258" align="alignnone" width="2000"] via:celebshare.com[/caption]

British actors Russell Brand, 40, and Dame Helen Mirren, 70, appeared in a 2011 remake of the film "Arthur" in which Mirren plays nanny to Brand's spoiled man-child role. After making the film, the two developed a relationship further than that of a child and a nanny. In fact, Brand described his relationship with Mirren as, "...an unconsummated love affair. An erotic, intellectual tangle of emotions between a Dame and a vagabond. She is an incredible personality, very beautiful; ordinary when she needs to be, remarkable when required. I really love her and respect her tremendously." It's unclear whether Mirren agrees that they are involved in a love affair, but his words were nice anyway.

4 Kelly Osbourne and Miley Cyrus

[caption id="attachment_3262" align="alignnone" width="2000"] via: http://i.huffpost.com[/caption]

They do both share a love of eccentric hair styles and colors, so maybe it comes as no surprise to YOU that television personality Kelly Osbourne is good friends with singer and actress, Miley Cyrus. However, when the pair first emerged as friends, a lot of people WERE surprised. Perhaps they can also bond over both having famous dads. In fact, Osbourne said of Cyrus: “We hang out at each other's houses, eat dinner, talk, put on music and make up stupid dance routines," and also shared that, "“What you see is what you get with Miley Cyrus and that's what I love about her. She is who she is without any apology." That's high praise from anyone!

3 Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill

[caption id="attachment_3268" align="alignnone" width="2000"] via: http://i.huffpost.com[/caption]

When you put Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill in a movie together, all your bases are covered. There's humor, brawn, brains, looks, and chemistry. That might be why their 21 Jump Street reboot films performed so well at the box office. Off-screen, the two are also friends. Their friendship is the epitome if cute if it's anything like how Hill describes it: “People ask if we would have been friends in high school because in the movie our characters weren’t friends, but I think we would have been best friends in high school. We are from very different places, but we have very similar morals on friendship. I’ve rarely gotten along with someone as well as this guy. We hang out all the time. Last night, I was like, ‘I miss Chan. I haven’t seen him in a few hours.’ He was in the same hotel, and I wanted to see what he was up to!” Wait for it..."Awwww!"

2 Lindsay Lohan and Charlie Sheen

[caption id="attachment_3272" align="alignnone" width="3000"] via: http://www.rp-online.de[/caption]

Lindsay Lohan and Charlie Sheen have both had their fair share of legal troubles and they are both famous actors, so maybe it makes sense the two would be friends. However, the pairing just SEEMS rather odd, and it's not only because of their 20 year age gap. Back in 2013, Sheen spoke about their friendship, which began on the set of their movie, Scary Movie 5. Sheen explained he even helped Lohan out of a tough time by giving her $100,000 to cover her tax debt. He also explained that their relationship was platonic as he, "love[s] her, I respect her, and I've never laid a finger on her that wasn't on film." Sheen also seemed to believe that their shared experience with legal trouble made him a good choice for a friend and mentor to Lohan, "I have a kinship with somebody [Lohan] who clearly needs a mentor, whether she wants one or not. She can continue to hang out with her dress shredding club buddies, or turn to me for some advice from a guy who's been down the road as well as every other side trail on the journey." His words are nice, but the $100,000 was even nicer!

1 Mel Gibson and Britney Spears

[caption id="attachment_3273" align="alignnone" width="1200"] via: http://images.intouchweekly.com[/caption]

Back in 2008, actor Mel Gibson and singer Britney Spears made headlines when they vacationed together in Costa Rica at Gibson's home there. Apparently, the friendship was sparked by Gibson and his wife wanting to reach out and help Spears after her 2008 hospitalization. In 2010, Gibson experienced his own crisis when the dirty laundry from his custody battle with his then girlfriend was being leaked to the public. According to some sources, Gibson reached out to his friend, Spears, for counselling, knowing she had been through some low points in her life as well.
