15 Memes To Help You Get Back Into Your Routine

It’s finally a new year. You were excited for like five seconds and then you remembered all the resolutions you made last year… and how you didn’t keep any of them. It’s not your fault. Getting back into your routine (or starting a new one) is definitely a pretty tricky thing to do. You promised yourself that this year would be different, but do you actually have a plan to pull this off? It means having some sort of schedule down pat that you can call your own. You know the one: wake up early, meditate, go to the gym. Or wait. You tried that and it didn’t work out. What about putting reminders on your phone? That was a hit and miss thing too because you would just delete them as they came up… and you overslept a bit and didn’t actually work out. So where does that leave you? Nowhere. But wait. There’s a light at end of the tunnel.

What’s going to save you and help you get back into a healthy routine? That would be memes. Here are 15 memes to help you get back on track.

15. Take A Power Nap

What is better than sleep to help us recharge our batteries and get ourselves back into a routine? Can’t sleep? Well, then there’s always the chance to take a quick power nap. When is the best time of the day to take them? That would be any time before three o’clock. After that, taking a nap will seriously hamper your nighttime snoozes so don’t even consider doing it. Another great thing about a power nap? You get to look forward to a mini breather in your afternoon when the world is hard at work, and you can say that you need a break before you keep being your awesome and productive self. The important thing to remember is that you wake up feeling more rested and revving to go, or else, well, getting back into your routine may not happen. Just try taking a few power naps and you will be a believer.

14. Treat Yourself After A Hard Week

You work hard all week eating well, sleeping well, exercising. And now that it’s the new year, you think that you have to say goodbye to any treats whatsoever because you’re supposed to be all about resolutions. But why can’t you have one fun day on the weekend where you let it all hang loose and indulge in some dessert? Having some fun and lightening up is actually the best way to get back into a routine, even if you might not think so at first. You’re giving yourself a fun treat, so when you need to push aside the fun and tackle responsibility at work and in your persona; life, you will not have any issues, or at the very least, some minor ones. Another great way to treat yourself? A long bath, going for a massage or binge-watching your latest Netflix obsession. Seriously try it. You’ll be back to your routine in no time.

13. Get A Pet

Not being alone and not feeling isolated are really important for one’s state of mind. Sure, you may have a boyfriend that you see all the time or maybe you have a roomie that is your best friend. But having a dog is a great idea too. It’s a great way to connect to another living being and get outside since you have to take them on regular walks and socialize with other dog owners. You don’t have to get a dog, but they’re definitely a great pet. Any animal is a great way to get you into a healthy routine in your life where you will feel useful and helpful and want to get up in the morning and get at ‘em. Winter is a hard time of the year with darker shorter days. It is hard to keep to your routine 24/7 but if you have a dog that needs tending to, you’re probably going to start making some healthier choices, and that’s going to cheer you up like nothing else.

12. Stay Away From Carbs

Ah carbs. Not good for keeping up a healthy routine. Super fun in the winter and during the holidays. But not all carbs are created equal. Whole wheat pasta and lots of other starchy grains that will do the body wonders. There are even starchy vegetables which will keep your human motor running and percolating smoothly. Getting back into the swing of things after overeating and not exercising during the holidays means making some definite positive food choices that will help with one’s energy and mood. Lowering your unhealthy carb intake and making healthier food portions, in general, is the way to go. Another thing to remember is to add exercise, gentle and regular at first, which will help you get into a healthier routine. The important thing is to start slow and work your way from there. After all, slow and steady always wins the race. Then you will feel your body changing for the better.

11. Think About Boundaries

Sorry not sorry but there are people out there that you just don’t like. Okay, so it’s not like you wish them any harm. But these people are toxic and they definitely don’t want you to succeed. They drive you crazy and sometimes they’re just the worst. We are definitely better off not having these people in our lives but don’t always know how to tell them. We are afraid to hurt their feelings. Well, your feelings will be the ones that get hurt if they are allowed to stay in your life and create havoc and negativity. The important thing to do is to put up boundaries with these people over just how far they can go or go away. Then you need to stick to that for your own mental health. This is a great way to start the new year off right. You don’t want to be distracted from your routine by these people, so make sure that you do this.

10. Stay On Track

Motivation is great, but to keep meeting your goals and going after your dreams, you can’t afford to be distracted by little things like other people’s comments, criticism or anything else. You have to learn to stay on track with the changes you have decided to make and go from there in implementing those changes. You’ve also got to have a plan of what you want to accomplish and then do it. If you need to go back to the drawing board, that’s totally okay. Just make sure it is your choice and no one else’s. Another thing to remember, write a realistic list of what you want to change so you do not get bogged down in details. This is also what could affect your motivation for the negative. A lot of very successful people are successful because they stand the test of time and try and try again. They do not let distractions get them down for long. They make sure to take the next step and have a final game plan. And you totally need to do the same thing.

9. Be Motivated No Matter What

You need to stay motivated no matter what. That means when anything is thrown in your path to slow you down, from getting sick to being stressed out to losing your job, you have to keep being inspired and motivated. Think about why you wanted to do this thing in the first place. Keep coming back to that motivation because it’s going to help you stick to your routine. You will need a real kick in the butt to keep fighting and achieving your goals. If you’re someone who always wants to quit because you think that following your dreams is way too hard, then this is something that you definitely need. Remember that greater things are always in store for you (well, at least if you keep motivated and keep going). It may sound cheesy but being true to yourself is truly the most important thing here, so remember that.

8. Exercise

You already know that exercise is super important for your mental health and your physical health, too. If you keep this in mind as well as how good you feel after exercising, you will want to find different ways to make fitness a regular part of your life. The best thing? You can totally work out anywhere and anyhow. Watch YouTube videos and work out in your apartment. Take a jog, go for a super fast power walk, or join a gym or boutique studio. You really can’t commit to a new, healthy routine without exercising, that’s for sure. All these health doors are going to open for you and you’re going to love taking care of yourself. An encouraging meme like this one about working out will definitely keep you on track so you never forget how much you love breaking a sweat (even when you’re super sore the next day).

7. Find Your Voice

It is important to find your voice aka what you’re good at, either in your work life and in your personal one too. If you are comfortable with who you are and where you are going, more doors and more goodness will be open to you and you’re going to have a much healthier and happier life. It’s going to be much easier to stick to your routine as well, which is a really nice bonus. You may need to ask yourself a lot of questions about health, happiness, and hobbies, but it will be worth it when you realize who you truly are and what you want to do this year. There are a lot of online tools to help you do this. Don’t be afraid to seek them out so that you can get right to the core of who you are and where you are going. You will see once you start this path of self-exploration the right people will start to come into your life and help you along your way.

6. Find Your Tribe

You’ve probably heard people talk about finding your tribe and let 2017 be the year that you finally do it. Once you find the people who think, act, and are a little crazy like you, you will be well on your way to finding your own path, where you belong and where you will be going. Your tribe will help you professionally, socially and spiritually, as long as you reach out to them and do the work in order for them to be able to help you on all these fronts. You can find tribes in your community, through friends, and online. The important thing is that you find one that resonates with you spiritually and that will help and take you to that next level of self-development. The other thing tribes can do? They hold you accountable to your daily, weekly, and monthly goals and call you if you are slacking off and not pulling your own personal weight. Often times we need to hear this to keep on going or else we may get lazy.

5. Smile And Move On

Ah yes. The world is crazy, so we might as well smile and don’t sweat the small stuff. If we move on things will end up working themselves out… and often for the better. We also can laugh at some of the absurdities of our lives and bond with the people around us who feel the same way. How can this get us back into a routine? Well, if we know what we don’t want to do or how we don’t want to live our lives at all, we will see our lives much clearer. And we will know what routine to stick to. Then we know the path we have to follow and will follow it from our heart. We may also meet fellow souls that become lifelong friends who can also laugh at absurdities with us, and meet us at the next level of our lives. We will both grow with each other and become stronger people. This is a great way to start a new year.

4. Live In The Moment

This is a great reminder that if we don’t live our lives in the present, we will never fully experience a real life where we get to be who we are meant to be. We all have dreams that we want to follow, right? So why aren’t we going after them every single day? There are always sacrifices that need to be made, but once we start taking chances and being true to what and who we love, things will open up for us in new and positive ways and we will be the better for it as will be all those around us. The new year is a great time to start up a new career, hobby or relationship. Opening ourselves up more and more will help us learn to be brave and take on more challenges. This is truly the stuff of excitement, and a new and exciting life. If we are always playing it safe, we will miss it on so much of what life has to offer and be sad and less of a person for it.

3. Actually Meditate

Meditating is a pretty difficult thing to do, but if you can stop the boredom and actually do it, it’s going to be a really awesome experience for you. It brings us deep inside ourselves and helps us learn how to be focused in the present, calm, and connected to the energy all around us and inside of us. It also helps us learn how to breathe properly and slow down our thinking so that we can make proper and healthy decisions without deciding anything in haste or too quickly. A meme dedicated to meditation is great as it helps us see how slowing down and embracing the moment is the healthiest thing we can do to get ahead and feel great. The other great thing? You can mediate any time of day and anywhere from five to twenty minutes or so can be invested in it depending on your time and energy. The longer the better as you get more accustomed to it, but at the beginning after a few weeks you will see a difference even with five minutes a day.

2. Find A Reason

Got a high school reunion coming up? This is a great time to start getting into shape physically so that you can feel great about yourself. Think about this when you’re struggling to find your healthy eating and living routine once again. If a class reunion or a wedding is the way for us to have healthier habits, why not? It’s important to go for it and if this is the motivating factor behind your new resolutions that you are actually going to keep, then what’s the problem? A nice bonus is that your positive attitude will probably help encourage others around you as well. Of course, you don’t really need a fancy reason like a reunion or a wedding or an event to get healthy and happy. You can absolutely stick to your routine without this. But if you do have a big event to think about and look forward to, then this is a great way to do it.

1. Stop With The Excuses

This is a great motivational saying not only for the new year but any time really since it reminds us that even during hard times, we need to get through our problems without licking our wounds and making excuses. Everyone has hard times. It’s how we move on and make our lives better that really makes all the difference in what kind of life we live: negative or totally positive. We all have our days where we feel sorry for ourselves, but as long as most days are filled with hope, ambition, and strength, we will eventually achieve our goals and fight our demons along the way. We may also inspire others to do the same. After all, everyone loves to read and share in a success story and will get annoyed always hearing about the negative in another case. Eventually, you have to snap out of it and do your best. Once you get used to sticking to your routine, you won’t believe how much you love it.
