If you've ever been on Tinder, or any online dating site for that matter, you know that men list their height as if it's their single greatest accomplishment. They know that women like tall men, and if they have to brag about being over six feet tall in order to get dates, then they will. Luckily for most celebrities, they have a lot more going for them than just their height.

Sometimes it's hard to tell how tall a celebrity is when you only see them onscreen or on stage. They seem larger than life, and unless there is someone next to them to put things into perspective, it's hard to tell just how tall they really are. For example everyone knows Tom Cruise is pretty short (he's only 5'7), because he was constantly next to Katie Holmes on the red carpet, and she's 5'9.

Here are 15 male celebs who are shorter than you think-- not that they let that hold them back.

15 Kit Harrington - 5'8

Game of Thrones fan favourite, Jon Snow is only 5'8. Of course, Kit Harrington makes up for it with his gorgeous hair and perfect abs. To put things in perspective, Jason Momoa who played Khal Drogo is 6'4 and Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa Stark is 5'9. But although Googling Kit Harrington's height will provide you with one answer-- 5'8, there is considerable debate over how accurate that is. Jezebel published an entire article where people who have met him in person wrote in to say he's probably no taller than 5'6. Apparently height is in the eye of the beholder.

14 Daniel Radcliffe - 5'5

You would think a character like Harry Potter would need to be big and strong to fight dark wizards like Voldemort, but that's not the case. Daniel Radcliffe is now a full grown adult and he's only 5'5. He won't be getting any taller. But instead of dwelling on it, he makes jokes. He told MTV News, "when I meet people now and they all say, ‘God you’re so much shorter than I expected!’ I always say, ‘No! I’m actually slightly further away than you think’, which confuses them."

13 Justin Bieber - 5'7

Justin Bieber has been working out a lot, and his hair always gets most of the attention, so people don't really notice that he's not that tall. But he's around 5'7, and that's at the tallest. There's a lot of debate over his exact height (it's an important thing to know, okay?), but we can be generous and round up. According to sources in the know, Bieber asked for his Calvin Klein campaign photos to be altered to make him "look taller and buff". So maybe Justin hasn't quite come to terms with his height yet.

12 Martin Scorsese - 5'4

Since Martin Scorsese spends most of his time behind the camera, his height has never really been an issue. In an interview with Esquire, he said his height only affects his ability to deal with crowds. “Maybe that’s to do with my height. The last time I worked in London, I couldn’t fight my way through the crew! I had to hire a big guy just to get me through the crowd." Makes sense, because at 5'4 he wouldn't be able to see where he was going if he was in the middle of a crowd. Although there are plenty of women who, at 5'4, manage just fine.

11 Lil Wayne - 5'5

Lil Wayne is called Lil Wayne for a reason-- He's only 5'5. He's one of the smallest hip hop stars out there, but he more than makes up for it with his music. He has released 12 studio albums, with another one in the works, and his sixth album Tha Carter III won a Grammy for Best Rap Album. He also has his own record label imprint Young Money Entertainment and has the distinction of signing both Nicki Minaj and Drake.

10 Dustin Hoffman - 5'6

Oscar winner Dustin Hoffman may not be very tall, but he's never let that stop him from being successful in the extremely superficial Hollywood scene. Even though he didn't have the typical leading man looks, he still did his role in classic film The Graduate justice. He's just one of those guys whose talent was way more important than his looks, which is more than a lot of Hollywood leading men can say these days.

9 Kevin Hart - 5'4

Okay, so you probably knew comedian Kevin Hart is pretty short. It's not like he tries to hide it. In fact, he uses it to his comedic advantage all the time, like for example in the new H&M campaign where he's following David Beckham around. Hart is confident enough to not let his height bother him, and he enjoys the reaction he gets when he stands next to tall people. He's only 5'4, which is the same height as his fiance, but on the red carpet, she gets to wear heels, and ends up taller than him anyway.

8 Jon Stewart 5'7

On The Daily Show, Jon Stewart was usually sitting behind a desk, so his height was never really an issue. Some thought his opinions and the way he delivered his jokes could sometimes come across as pushy and as if he had a chip on his shoulder. Short guys often try to make up for their small stature by making their personality larger than life. But as the host of a show like The Daily Show, it's not like Stewart had the option of being soft spoken. He's just a reminder that short does not necessarily mean weak.

7 Bruno Mars - 5'5

Bruno Mars has only been a mainstream artist for five years, but he's already won two Grammy's and is one of the best-selling artists in the world. He may only be 5'5 but he has the stage presence and charisma of someone much bigger. His voice and style have been compared to Michael Jackson, and he made Time magazine's list of 100 most influential people in 2011, and was named Billboard's "Artist of the Year", and number one on Forbes list of Top 30 under 30 in 2013. His 2014 Superbowl half-time show was the second most-watched of all time. Clearly height has no correlation to success.

6 Billy Joel - 5'5

Billy Joel spends a lot of his time on stage sitting at a piano, and his talent distracts from his height. Even though he's only 5'5, he had no problem landing a supermodel. He was married to Christie Brinkley who is 5'9, for nine years, and they had one daughter together. He is also a six-time Grammy winner, one of the best-selling artists of all time, and a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee. He's been married three times, so clearly his height hasn't held him back much.

5 Seth Green - 5'4

Known for his role on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the voice of Chris Griffin on Family Guy, and for creating popular adult cartoons Adult Swim and Robot Chicken. He's only 5'4, but that doesn't seem to bother him or his wife, who at 5'7 without heels, towers over him on the red carpet. Clearly a sense of humor has the potential to override height as an important factor in the dating game.

4 Michael J. Fox - 5'4

The Canadian star of the Family Ties and the Back to the Future franchise is pretty tiny at 5'4. His wife of 27 years is about the same height as him, but on the red carpet has the advantage of wearing high heels. Fox started showing early symptoms of Parkinson's disease when he was only 30 years old, and since then he has become an advocate for Parkinson's disease research with his foundation The Michael J. Fox Foundation. He has also been awarded honorary doctorate's for his contributions in research towards curing the disease.

3 Woody Allen - 5'5

Woody Allen is arguably one of the most well-known director still working today, and despite a lot of controversy surrounding his personal life, he's managed to continue working with some of Hollywood's most in-demand talent. At only 5'5, he isn't the commanding physical presence you'd expect of an award-winning director, but the actors he work with still respect his vision so much that his physical appearance has nothing to do with it.

2 Josh Hutcherson - 5'7

One of the stars of The Hunger Games franchise, Josh Hutcherson stands at only 5'7. His height is even more obvious when he stands next to his co-stars Liam Hemsworth who is 6'3 and Jennifer Lawrence who is 5'9 (and often wearing heels). He recently won the MTV movie award for Best Male Performance and standing among presenters Leslie Mann, Kate Upton, and Cameron Diaz, he joked, “they’re all so tall. Me and Kate would never work. That would be hard."

1 Elijah Wood - 5'6

Elijah Wood stands at only 5'6, but luckily that made him perfect for his most well-known role as hobbit Frodo Baggins in The Lord of the Rings franchise. Frodo Baggins is actually supposed to be 3'6 according to the books, so special effects were used to really convey the extreme height differences of characters. They used two different sets that were scaled to match with the heights of the characters. For examples, while Frodo is 3'6, elves were described as being anywhere between 6'5 and 7 feet tall.
