Earlier this year, it was reported that Chris Brown's ex-girlfriend, Karrueche Tran, had filed a restraining order against him, just six years after Rihanna filed the same order. Domestic violence in showbiz has affected many women including Mariah Carey, Tina Turner and Halle Berry - sadly, however, it is not limited to just women.

The statistics are staggering; the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence reported ten million men and women are physically abused by an intimate partner per year and according to The Guardian, around 40% of domestic violence victims are male. Campaigners for the men's rights charity group Parity said, "Male victims are almost invisible to the authorities such as the police, who rarely can be prevailed upon to take the man's side. Their plight is largely overlooked by the media, in official reports and in government policy."

Couples fight behind closed doors, but when this turns to violence, there is no excuse. Nobody should have to feel physically threatened by their partner - no matter what their gender or social status. These following beautiful female stars all (shockingly) lashed out at their partners and many of them had to face series penalties.

They just behave in a way that's very passionate." There's 'passionate' and there's physical assault - we find it hard to believe she's can't tell between the two. Later in an interview with Oprah Winfrey, the Baywatch actress revealed marrying Rodman when she should have been dealing with the pain of her losing her mother to cancer was not a good idea, adding, "Right after my mom died, I flew to Las Vegas and Dennis and I got married. I guess I was trying to cling to whatever I had. I didn't want to lose anyone else. We were married for about five months. When I started going through some really hard times with Dennis, I became addicted to feeling that pain instead of dealing with my feelings about my mom and sister. But at some point, I realized I had to stop blaming him."

7 Hilary Clinton Did Not Take Bill's Infidelity Well, To Say The Least...

During Inaugural Week 1993, Hilary Clinton reportedly launched a lamp at her husband Bill Clinton in a fit of anger. The attack took place in the West Wing of the The White House as the Chicago Sun-Times reported that she had a temper to match her husband's but luckily the lamp used as a weapon "wasn’t a priceless antique, or anything like that."

It was around this time the Washington Post had begun printing their first stories about Bill Clinton's wandering eye. However, a former Secret Service Agent also told the newspaper that the First Lady had thrown items at him in this case for "driving too slow." After the Monica Lewinksy scandal in 2015, a tell-all book The Residence: Inside the Private World of the White House, claimed that "shortly after the affair went public, a White House maid discovered blood all over the president and first lady’s bed and called in a residence staffer. The blood was Bill’s; he had to get stitches to his head." We can only imagine what household items were thrown at him following that news...

Jolie told The Telegraph, "Brad and I have our issues. To be clear: we have fights and problems like any other couple. We have days when we drive each other absolutely mad and want space." The actress has previously admitted that her love life has involved knife play and vials of blood, so it's not surprising that she might have acted a little 'passionately' with Pitt. Sadly, the marriage was not meant to be and they announced their split, after more than twelve years together, earlier this year.

2 Nobody But Solange Knowles Messes With Beyoncé and Jay-Z

In the video, Solange can be seen lashing out, kicking at Jay-Z and attempting to scratch his eyes out; a calm Beyoncé stands by her side as their security guard desperately tries to stall the doors from opening in front of the hoards of paparazzi.

In a joint statement following the incident, the threesome announced: "As a result of the public release of the elevator security footage from Monday, there has been a great deal of speculation about what triggered the unfortunate incident. 1 "We’re fighting for our love", Said Whitney Houston

Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown were always in a volatile relationship together. They both spiraled into a dark place with crack cocaine addiction and reports began to emerge that Brown was beating his wife. When we’re fighting, it’s like that’s love for us. We’re fighting for our love."

The damaging relationship sank to new lows as Brown was branded a "woman beater." During his 20/20 interview, he said, "I’ve never been a violent man toward a woman ever." Adding, "The last few years of our marriage it was terrible. Both of us trying to be clean, or one of us trying to be clean… it was terrible. We could have been better. We should have been better." Sadly, it was too late and Houston died aged 48-years-old by drowning caused by the effects of atherosclerotic heart disease and cocaine use.
