Not every woman would consider proposing to her man and it usually takes a pretty confident woman to do so. There’s a reason for that: we all want to be proposed to but when it comes right down to it, there is the fear that he might say no if we take the initiative. That’s where the confidence comes in. Confident women propose because they already know what answer they are going to get.

Some people think that there is a stigma attached to a woman proposing to a man. But in society, it’s considered completely normal for a woman to propose to a man just like it is normal for a man to pop the question. Other people think that women propose because that’s the only way that they will get married. But that’s not true.

There are more celebrities than you might think who took that important leap and made the choice to ask for a man's hand in marriage. They weren’t waiting around, they went for it and got exactly what they wanted! Well, some of them did.

Sometimes it just makes sense for a woman to propose. Check out these 15 female celebs who got down on one knee and popped the question, and five on-screen characters who did the same thing.

20 Britney Spears Popped The Question On A Private Plane

Many people were surprised when Britney Spears decided to get married when she hadn’t even been with Kevin Federline for very long. She also was the one who popped the question, and she did it while they were on a private plane. She told People,

"I'd finished the European part of my tour and I was going home. I was ready to get back to the States. I was really happy. Kevin was with me, so I'd had a lot of fun on the tour. Then all of a sudden I said, 'What if you want to get married?' And I kind of went from there to asking him if he would marry me. I asked him... He said no because he thought it wasn't the right way to do it.”

Ouch!

19 Kristen Bell Didn’t Waste Any Time

As soon as the Supreme Court ruled that same-sex marriages were no longer unconstitutional, Kristen didn’t waste any time proposing to her man. “The reason we’re not rushing to get married is because I don’t feel appropriate taking advantage of a right that’s denied to my friends. That’s why we’ve been so hesitant,” she told The Advocate.

She added, “Dax and I have talked about it a lot, and this issue is very important to both of us. We’re just standing up for what we believe in. Period.”

Oddly enough, she proposed via a Twitter post.

18 Chrissy Lampkin Wanted To Prove Her Love

For some women, proposing to their men is a great way of showing them how much they love them. Isn’t that why men also propose to the ladies in their life? 17 Judge Judy Popped The Question

Judge Judy is a very confident and strong woman so it’s not really surprising to hear that she would be the one to propose to her man. No one is going to tell her that proposing is a man’s job. She proposed to her second husband, Jerry Sheindlin, in 1978.

Judy told DuJour, "[H]e tried to weasel out of it... I told him to pick a date. He picked Flag Day.” It’s an odd date but at the end of the day, Judy got exactly what she was looking for. It clearly pays to go against the norm and follow your heart.

Pink has had some ups and downs in her relationship with Carey Hart over the years, but the two have worked hard to stay together. Pink knew when the moment was right to pop the question. She’s not exactly the kind of girl to wait around for a guy to propose to her.
