These famous lesbian couples have us gushing over them and wanting to know more. Who wouldn't want to be a fly on the wall at Ruby Rose and Phobe Dahl's house after all? I would... for many reasons.
It's OK to be out and proud in show biz nowadays. And that's why we get to see so many cute celesbian couples. We're thankful because it means we can coo over Samira Wiley's Instagram and swoon at Ellen and Portia on the red carpet.
This a list of adorable love stories that will make you have serious relationship goals.
15 Samira Wiley and Lauren Morelli
Orange Is the New Black writer and co-producer Lauren Morelli came to terms with her sexuality whilst working on the popular Netflix show. Her own sexual preference was brought to the forefront of her mind as queer themes were discussed in the writers' room. When she realized that she was in fact gay she separated from her husband, whom she had been in a relationship with for six years and married to for five months. Soon after, Morelli fell in love with OITNB actress Samira Wiley on set. The pair had their first public appearance at the 2014 Emmy Awards and boy did they look cute together! And they've continued to be adorable ever since as you can see from their Instagram posts.
14 Raven Symone and AzMarie Livingston
It took a while for former Disney star and current co-host of The View, Raven Symone to open up about her sexuality. As early as 2012 there were reports that she was living with her partner AzMarie Livingston but Symone still didn't come out (as not straight) officially until a year later. Symone and the Empire actress / former Top Model contestant seem to be super happy. Every now and then the private couple allow us a glimpse into their lives and what we see is too cute.
13 Cara Delevingne and Annie Clark
Did you see how they gazed at one another lovingly at London Fashion Week? Cara Delevingne and Annie Clark have had their fair share relationships (and break-ups) in the public eye, and sometimes with other celesbians on this list. But let's hope this one sticks because they're very cute together. They're constantly being papped and featured in the tabloids being all lovey-dovey with one another. But it was the cutest when Cara opened up to Vogue about how being in a relationship with the St Vincent singer turned her life around, “I think that being in love with my girlfriend is a big part of why I’m feeling so happy with who I am these days.”
12 Beth Ditto and Kristin Ogata
They're so in love they got married twice! Jk, I wish that were the case. The Gossip singer Beth Ditto and Kristin Ogata initially had a ceremony to celebrate their love in Maui back in 2013, then were able to marry legally last New Year's Eve. It's truly heart-warming that a couple who wanted and deserved to be legally married were finally able to do so. Their love story is cute too. Ditto and Ogata have been best friends since they were only 18-years-old and it seems the rock star always knew their wedding was meant to be. Speaking to The Guardian Ditto said, “I was born to be married. I just feel comfortable there. I love the idea of being partnered for ever. I love my girlfriend [...]”
11 Ruby Rose and Phoebe Dahl
Ruby Rose, the androgynous babe with the ability to turn legions of straight women, is engaged to be married. Sorry if you didn't know that already, I feel your pain, but at least you can still swoon. Her fashion designer fiancée Phoebe Dahl is darn gorgeous too! That's probably why they both experienced “love at first sight” when they met for the very first time. They even met in a cute way – Rose saw a picture of Dahl's pet pig and decided she wanted to meet her so went over to Dahl's place for a barbecue and the rest was history. Things got very intense very quickly between the pair and the OITNB actress and DJ asked Phoebe Dahl to marry her even before she'd said I love you.
10 Maria Bello and Clare Munn
Who else remembers Maria Bello as the bad ass chick who owned the bar in Coyote Ugly? Nowadays she's an actor, an activist and is absolutely loving life with her girlfriend Clare Munn. Bello came out publicly in a heartfelt essay for the New York Times entitled “Coming Out as a Modern Family”. In the essay she revealed the story of how she told her twelve-year-old son that she was in a relationship with a woman (Munn). Since then the cute couple have been out and about in public showing off their love for one another, even kissing on the red carpet at a gala for the Human Rights Campaign. And they're just lovely!
9 Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi
How could you write an article about cute celebrity lesbian couples and not mention Ellen and Portia? How could you write an article about cute celebrity couples and not mention Ellen and Portia for that matter? They're the dream couple. It's so cute whenever Portia drops in on Ellen's show and they make cute little digs at one another about stuff they do at home. Ahh I just want to spread them on a cracker. And whoever keeps writing bull in the tabloids about them having marital troubles and maybe even getting a divorce (gasp!) seriously needs to stop because we all know it's bull and we all know they're the best couple ever.
8 Carrie Brownstein and Taylor Schilling [Rumoured]
I feel a little bit naughty for including these two on the list because they've never come out as a couple officially. Carrie Brownstein, of TV show Portlandia and punk rock band Sleater-Kinney, and OITNB actress Taylor Schilling are both amazing and it would be amazing if they were together. Reports that they're dating surfaced earlier this year as “a source” told OK! Magazine that they're mad about one another. And the evidence is there if you want to believe it, Schilling has been flying half way around the world to visit Brownstein on tour with her band. And Brownstein posted an Instagram pic of the OITNB star with the tag-line “Miss this gorgeous goof.” Aww! Please be real because that's just too cute.
7 Ellen Page and Samantha Thomas
When we found out that Ellen Page had come out the lesbian community jumped for joy! That's when the rumour mill started about which lucky girl she might be dating. Well that lucky girl happens to be surfer and artist Samantha Thomas. Before the premiere of her new movie Ellen Page posted a picture with Thomas to her Instagram with the tag #loveislove. Later on the red carpet she gushed, “I'm just very lucky to have someone in my life as special as her.” Despite the fact that we want to date her, us lesbians are so happy that Page is so adorably in love with her gf.
6 Chely Wright and Lauren Blitzer-Wright
Chely Wright is another star with a pretty awesome coming out story. She became the very first openly gay country music singer ever, which is brave considering the conservative community country music is associated with. Nevertheless, Wright married music executive Lauren Blitzer in 2011 whom she met just a couple of weeks after she came out publicly in 2010. Recently the pair have welcomed identical twin boys and they say they feel as though their lives and their relationship have been “blessed”. What a cute family!
5 Wanda and Alex Sykes
Comedienne Wanda Sykes and her beautiful wife Alex are so cute together. I just love it when Sykes tells funny stories on talk shows about her toddler twins and French wife, their house must be a laugh a minute! Wanda met Alex at a hotel in 2006 and came out at a gay rights rally pretty soon after, it must have been love straight away. They got married in 2008 when gay marriage was legalized for a short time in California. The comedienne and actress tries to protect Alex, who isn't in show business, from the limelight. But that doesn't stop them from stepping out on the red carpet together looking cute AF.
4 Lea DeLaria and Chelsea Fairless
I must admit that I really respect Lea DeLaria, one of a few Orange Is the New Black actresses on this list. She has been out and proud for a long time, even when it wasn't cool to be and she's still been a huge success. More than that though I love how comfortable she is in her own skin. Which brings me to her relationship with fashion editor Chelsea Fairless. DeLaria recently spoke out about body positivity in a viddeo for a project called StyleLikeU. In the video she mentions how her fiancée looks at her sometimes. She says, “When my fiancée looks at me with this look in her eye and I can see that she is completely in love with me, it makes me feel really handsome... almost beautiful.” If that's not cute, I don't know what is.
3 Kristen Stewart and Alicia Cargile
Kristen Stewart famously dated (and cheated on) her Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson before she moved onto chicks, which we all knew she would do at some point (move onto chicks I mean, not cheat). Now she's dating visual effects producer Alicia Cargile but refuses to define herself like the cool lady she is. We don't hear very much from the horse's mouth where these two are concerned. So why are they a cute couple? Because they're always wearing matching outfits and that's adorbs.
2 Jenny Shimizu and Michelle Harper
Forget about Jenny Shimizu and Angelina Jolie, that's ancient history. If you want to see how cute she is with her business woman and socialite wife Michelle Harper then look at these photographs. The series of photos allows us a glimpse into their homes and favourite places around New York, and thus into their lives. They're soo stylish too. The supermodel met her wife-to-be at a party in 2012 and they got married in 2014. This was another stylish affair with Harper wearing a big beautiful puffy dress.
1 Tig Notaro and Stephanie Allynne
Tig Notaro is an inspiring comedienne who faced many travesties before one of her stand-up shows went viral. She was severely ill and then her mom died and to top it all of she got breast cancer. It was her unbelievably brave show about the latter that boosted her fame tenfold. A documentary was thus made about her tribulations and this is where we got to see the love story between Tig and her future wife Stephanie Allyne play out. Allyne was a little unsure at first having only been with men previously but literally found that she couldn't lead a happy life without Tig in it. It is a beautifully romantic love story and so the documentary is definitely worth watching!
