15 Rihanna & Ciara Go To War

The feud between R&B singers Rihanna and Ciara began offline, but like all things, made its way to social media before long. It began in February of 2011 when Ciara appeared on Fashion Police and called out Rihanna for not being “the nicest” when the two had run into each other at a party. In response, Rihanna hopped on Twitter and wrote, “My bad ci, did I 4get to tip u? #howrudeofme." Ciara replied instantly, and the two jumped down each other’s throats in a few tweets. Eventually, Rihanna decided to be the bigger woman, tweeting, “Ciara baby, I love u girl! U hurt my feelings real bad on TV! I'm heartbroken! That's y I retaliated this way! So sorry! #letsmakeup.” Ciara accepted her apology straight away, and things have been fine between the ladies since. If only all of life’s problems could be sorted out with a low-key #letsmakeup!

14 No Longer Bros

There was nothing said in the argument between Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson that was totally outrageous (by millennial standards, anyway!), but the mere fact that two former bandmates were feuding at all drew in the attention of the world. May 2015 was a touchy time for One Direction fans, considering Zayn had left the band two months earlier and was consistently seen with music producer Naughty Boy. The producer posted a photo, complete with filter, of Zayn in the studio, which must have aggravated Louis, who later tweeted, “Remember when you were 12 and you used to think those Mac filters for your pictures were cool haha ! Some people still do HA!" Naughty Boy quickly replied, “"@Louis_Tomlinson and some people can't even sing...but who's complaining when there's auto tune eh.” Zayn jumped in and tweeted straight to his former friend, “remember when you had a life and stopped making bi+!chy comments about mine?” Ouch.

13 Birthday Cake Drama

Lady Gaga and Kelly Osbourne haven’t exactly had the smoothest history together, with Gaga accusing Kelly of bullying celebrities on the show Fashion Police. Kelly had also referred to the ‘Applause’ singer as a “butterface” back in 2009, so these two were destined to come to blows eventually. Kelly called Gaga out on Twitter in October 2013 because Mother Monster had bought her a birthday cake and presented it to her mom, Sharon Osbourne, while she appeared on The X Factor UK. "Not to be ungrateful but why would you send me a birthday cake via my MOTHER in a country half the [world] away? #JustSendItToME #LoveNotWar,” Kelly posted in retaliation. She didn’t stop there, though, then posting a photo of the cake with the hashtags "#EatMySh-t” and “#Hypocrisy". Gaga’s response was pretty tame in comparison: "I didn't know it was your B-day until this afternoon. Meant as a peace offering. Happy Birthday,” she tweeted.

12 Those Who Live In Glasshouses...

Bette Midler wasn’t impressed with the performance that Ariana Grande gave at the Video Music Awards in 2014, and took to Twitter to air her feelings shortly after. "It's always surprising to see someone like Ariana Grande with that silly high voice, a very wholesome voice, slithering around on a couch, looking so ridiculous." She then added, “You don't have to make a w!_+re out of yourself to get ahead." Those were some pretty harsh words, and unsurprisingly, Ariana responded. Rather than directly attacking the actress and singer, Ariana shared an old photo of Bette dressed in not much at all, with a caption that read, “all love here.” Bette seemed to regret her first comments, ending the spat with something of an apology. “About my screed on @ArianaGrande , all I can say is, 'Spoken like a reformed old wh!_+re! She does have a beautiful voice, on a couch or off.’”

11 Family Over Everything

Amber Rose might have recently posted a selfie or two with Kim Kardashian, but she and the Kardashian Klan didn’t see eye to eye for quite a while. The tension between them surrounded the fact that Amber’s friend Black Chyna’s ex, Tyga, was dating Kylie Jenner at the time. On The Breakfast Club, Amber commented that Kylie needed “to go to bed at seven o’clock and relax,” and that she had no respect for any of the Kardashian-Jenner girls. Coming to her family’s defense, Koko tweeted, “Please don't worry about my sister who has a career and her s--t together at ONLY 17. People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.” Khloé was referring to the fact that Amber had admitted to dancing when she was 15. Amber responded quickly, claiming that she sold her body to support her family, the way Kim sells her body to support hers. Awkward!

Miley Cyrus was at the pinnacle of her transformation from Disney star to rebellious pop idol in 2013, and many people critiqued her for it. One celebrity who wasn’t feeling the new Miley was Sinead O’Connor, the Irish singer-songwriter famous for her ‘90s hit ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’. Sinead wrote an open letter to Miley, telling her that she was being exploited and pimped by the music industry. In response, Miley shared a screenshot of some old tweets posted by Sinead, in which she discussed her mental health. Adding salt, Miley compared Sinead to Amanda Bynes. Sinead hit back with another open letter, labelling the ‘Wrecking Ball’ singer “anti-female”. Finally, Miley ended the spat with a tweet that read, “Sinead, I don't have time to write you an open letter because Im hosting and performing on SNL this week. So if youd like to meet and talk lemme know in your next letter. :)."

9 Rap Battle

Azealia Banks has had her fair share of Twitter brawls with other stars, and one of the most talked about was her 2014 tweets to fellow rapper Iggy Azalea. In December of that year, Iggy received a nomination for Best Rap Album at the 2015 Grammys, which were taking place the following February. In an interview, Azealia labelled Iggy “not excellent” and said she “isn’t better than any f—king black girl that’s rapping today.” Iggy responded on Twitter, writing, “There are many black artists succeeding in all genres. The reason you haven't is because of your piss poor attitude…you created your own unfortunate situation by being a bigot and don't have the mental capacity to realize yet." Those posts got Azealia even more fired up, and she hit back with, “Dear LordT, I Pray for this Clueless White Girl...The interview was about things way beyond your mental capacity. You have absolutely no place to comment.”

2015 wasn’t an uneventful year for Zayn Malik, as far as Twitter feuds go. In August of that year, the singer retweeted a post that subtly condemned Taylor Swift for pulling all of her music from Spotify. Calvin Harris, who was in a relationship with Taylor at the time, jumped straight to her defense, firing a string of tweets targeted at Zayn. "You've made your money? Cool...f--k the 99% of musicians who depend on these services to survive right? Yeah f--k em…If u don't get what it means when a successful artist uses their celebrity to benefit every other musician and songwriter in the industry...stay out my f--kin mentions pls." Zayn responded by writing, “ha you just made an absolute fool of yourself mate. you clearly didn't understand what I just said either. so i suggest you calm your knickers before them dentures fall out.” Yikes!

7 Girl Power?

This argument was really more of a total misunderstanding. In 2015, Nicki Minaj’s ‘Anaconda’ music video failed to receive a Video of the Year nomination at the VMAs. "If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year,” she wrote. Of course, nominee Taylor Swift took the tweet personally "I've done nothing but love & support you,” she wrote. “It's unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot.." Nicki was quick to point out that Tay-Tay had misunderstood her tweets: “Huh? U must not be reading my tweets. Didn't say a word about u. I love u just as much…” Taylor admitted that she’d jumped to conclusions, but then Katy Perry chimed in with this dig: “Finding it ironic to parade the pit women against other women argument about as one unmeasurably capitalizes on the take down of a woman..."

6 Even Celebrities Get Hurt Feelings

Who knew Charlie Sheen and Rihanna even had enough in common to have their own online spat! The two had little to do with each other until Rihanna reportedly refused to meet Charlie’s former fiancé on her birthday, when they ran into each other at a restaurant in May 2014. "Nice impression you left behind, Bday or not,” the actor wrote. “Sorry we're not KOOL enough to warrant a blessing from the Princess. (Or in this case the Village idiot.)…Here's a tip from a real vet of this terrain; If ya don't wanna get bothered DONT LEAVE YOUR HOUSE!" In typical Rihanna style, the pop princess didn’t seem too bothered by the attack. "If that old queen don't get ha diapers out of a bunch..." she wrote. It’s not clear whether Rihanna really was rude to Charlie’s fiancé at the restaurant or not, but it is clear that something set the actor off!

5 Ouch!

This feud has become symbolic for women everywhere, and unlike the others, actually makes us smile! Producer Diplo opened a massive misogynistic can of worms by getting on Twitter and asking the world to start fundraising so that Taylor Swift could buy a booty. He rightly received a tirade of criticism for the dumb tweet, and some of that criticism came from Taylor’s friend and fellow superstar Lorde. The Kiwi singer responded by tweeting, “@diplo should we do something about your tiny [friend] while we’re at it hm.” Despite putting him back into his place, the two remain friends. "I love Wes and he's…one of my first friends in the industry, and part of having a friendship with someone like that is not letting them say stupid sh—t,” she said in an interview. “…If I see some weird body-shaming on my feed I'm going to be like, 'Hey man ... '”

4 Lovers Turned Haters

Long before his infamous relationship with Blac Chyna, Robert Kardashian was with British pop star Rita Ora. However, the short-lived romance ended rather nastily, and quite publicly. In December 2012, Rob posted a number of rage-infused tweets in which he accused Rita of cheating on him with nearly 20 guys. "How can a woman who is so busy trying to start her own career have time to be with so many dudes all while in a relationship?!" he wrote. Seeing that her brother was clearly upset, Khloé Kardashian jumped in and tweeted Rob a message of support, letting him know that she was there for him. Rita didn’t have as much to say as Rob, but did post and delete a tweet that read, “Rob's d--k was wack, I had to go get it somewhere else." So yeah, it was a messy split. But Rita insists today that she has only well wishes for her ex.

3 Thoughts from The Queen of Rap

Nicki Minaj got herself into another brawl in January of 2016, this time with reality star Farrah Abraham. After watching an episode of Teen Mon OG, Nicki commented, “Farrah is a c--t to her mother.” Those words are about as blunt as you can get, and Farrah retaliated by writing, “Cause your a parent right? Your videos look like porn Horrible good luck being negative #Godbless busy making TV…To be clear my mom doesn’t help me I help her. I love & care for my mom. Stop disgusting talk @NICKIMINAJ.” If only the feud had ended there! Nicki fired back saying, “Your mother didn't open her legs and have that child. Be happy she's helping! Stop talking to her like that on tv u lil c--t @F1abraham.” In another blow, she also commented on Farrah’s grammatical skills: “Instead of dragging your mother, learn the difference between 'you're' & 'your', ding bat."

2 That Escalated Quickly

Kanye West is a passionate artist who likes to have a rant every once in a while, so it was only a matter of time before one of those rants took place on Twitter in front of millions of followers. Jimmy Kimmel got himself into a sticky situation when he spoofed one of the rapper’s recent interviews, using children to mock him in jest. Kanye didn’t find the parody funny at all, but instead went off on the talk show host in a rant that used only capital letters. “I LIKE YOU,” he tweeted. “YOU KNOW ME, I WENT TO YOUR FAMILY’S WEDDING…WHO YOU MADE IT CLEAR TO ME WASN’T YOUR FAMILY WHEN I WAS ON THEN PHONE WITH YOU 5 MINUTES AGO…” The tweets went on (and on), with Jimmy inserting a cool-and-collected reply every so often. Eventually, Kanye appeared on Jimmy’s talk show to sort out the beef.

1 A Friendship Ended In Disaster

A Twitter fight is always more intense when those involved were once tight, and that’s why the Lady Gaga vs. Perez Hilton showdown is the craziest on our list. These two called themselves friends in the past, but that all fizzled behind the scenes. Gaga made the dispute public when she heard that Perez was in the lobby of her apartment building, and lost her cool. “"STAY AWAY FROM ME + MY FAMILY YOU ARE SICK TRYING TO RENT AN APARTMENT IN MY BUILDING TO STALK ME. LEAVE ME ALONE!!!" In response, Perez talked about how Gaga is supposedly a completely different person when there are no cameras around, and accused her of treating her staff terribly and tearing down other artists. He went on to suggest that she was making the feud public for exposure. On his website in 2015, Perez shared that the feud was behind them. Thank goodness for that!
