Whether it's genetics, exercise, healthy living or strategic procedures, some people age better than others. Though celebrities often have millions of dollars at their disposal, they don't always spend it on things that are going to help them in the aging process. Excessive bad habits can obviously do a lot of damage to a person's insides but it can also make once young and healthy looking individuals look decades older than they actually are. It's tragic how a bright and talented individual can throw away all of their success, and sometimes even their own life, for a bad habit. Don't get messed up in that stuff or else you'll end up with rotting teeth like Johnny Depp--or worse.

Though some celebs have aged gracefully such as Meryl Streep, Colin Firth, Diane Keaton, Denzel Washington, John Stamos, and Christie Brinkley, there have been plenty whose good looks have not stood the test of time. Even the hottest of the hot are not immune. You'll be surprised which former heartthrobs have gotten worse with age and whose faces and sharp cheekbones have turned into what looks like a garbage bag full of yogurt. You'll also be shocked when you see what once adorable child actors grew up to look like. Warning: it's not pretty. Brace yourselves for the ugliness that is laid out before you. Here are the celebrities who have aged, not like fine wine, but like spoiled milk.

15 Aaron Carter

Where do we even start with this mess? Aaron Carter's name popped up in the news in July after a DUI arrest and it was a cringe-inducing blast from the past. Apparently Carter said that he was targeted by police because of his "fame" but he was really pulled over because he drove into a median. The best part about the entire situation was that his brother (and claim to fame) Nick Carter tweeted a supportive message to his brother, saying he could call him if he needed anything. However, he didn't tag Aaron in the tweet which is petty AF. Aaron's name popped into the news again when he came out as swinging both ways on social media...but let's not forget that he also endorsed Donald Trump last year. Aaron may be a train wreck but he's riding this train as far as it will take him. Let's just forget about all of this and remember when he wished Lizzie McGuire a Merry Christmas.

14 Leonardo DiCaprio

Leonardo DiCaprio used to be the ultimate heartthrob. Not only was he a total hottie but he also starred in movies directed by big-time directors such as Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, and Danny Boyle. Though his career seems to be on hold since he won his first Oscar in 2016 for his performance in The Revenant, he is set to star as Leonardo Da Vinci (a role he was born to play) in an upcoming biopic about the artist. However, though his career is still going strong, he is not immune to the aging process. His puffy face and receding hairline are definitely not attractive and we miss that baby face and those sharp cheekbones. And that ponytail?! Eww! If he just shaved that awful beard and cut off the ponytail, maybe he wouldn't look so bad but, you've got to admit, he's not the heartthrob he once was.

13 Johnny Depp

Johnny Depp used to be one of the hottest stars in Hollywood and not only was he a heartthrob, he was also a talented actor who starred in many commercially and critically successful films such as Edward Scissorhands and What's Eating Gilbert Grape. However, as time passed and the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise dragged on with no end in sight, Depp went from being a hottie to being a creepy old dude with rotting teeth. The long string of duds that Depp starred in also did nothing to help bring him back to his former glory and when one of those duds (The Rum Diary) led him to meeting his future ex-wife, Amber Heard, it was the beginning of the end. As much as we'd like to remember Depp as the dreamy hunk that he used to be, it's hard to ignore the gross and abusive monstrosity that has taken his place.

12 Prince William

Though Prince William is still a catch because, you know, he's a prince and all, he was quite the looker back in the day! Back before he met Kate Middleton and became the father to Prince George and Princess Charlotte, he had some sharp cheekbones and a full head of hair that made him look totally gorgeous. However, as he has gotten older, he looks less like his beautiful mother, Princess Diana, and more like his father, Prince Charles which is pretty unfortunate. Even though he's only 35-years-old, with his hairline receding rapidly, he looks like he's in his forties. Though we're sure that his wife is very much in love with him, she probably misses that beautiful hair. Luckily for him, he's in the line of succession to the British throne and that is a lot more attractive than a full head of hair.

11 Matthew Perry

We all loved and identified with Chandler Bing on Friends but Matthew Perry sure doesn't look like the beloved TV character anymore. The actor has struggled with health problems and addiction for a long time, even while Friends was still on the air, appearing surprisingly thin in one season and then putting on a lot of weight in other seasons. He has admitted that, because of his addiction to illegal substances, there are three years of the show that he doesn't remember filming at all. Not only does excessive substance use expedite the aging process, but it can also cause you to have memory loss. Though he is currently sober, the years of addiction still weigh heavily on his face, making him look much older than he actually is. He now helps others who struggle with addiction through his charity work. The moral of the story? Don't do drugs.

10 Macaulay Culkin

Macaulay Culkin was once an adorable child actor who turned into a long-haired creep. Though recently a photo of Culkin surfaced which depicted him as looking much better looking than he does in most photos, it's fair to say that he's been on a downward spiral for most of his adulthood. After starring in movies like Home Alone, My Girl, and Uncle Buck, Culkin didn't have the same high-brow resume as Haley Joel Osment but he was a hugely successful box office sensation. However, the struggle of going from child actor to adult actor is real and it proved to be a difficult one for Culkin. The now 36-year-old actor hasn't done much in the way of acting but he did create a band called The Pizza Underground. Though his aesthetic in the photo on the right resembles that of a creepy semi-truck driver, he was in a relationship with Mia Kunis for nine years before they broke up in 2011. His next project is a comedy drama called Changeland directed by Seth Green which means a comeback may be on its way.

9 Mischa Barton

Mischa Barton was once the It Girl of her day back when she starred on The O.C. However, she made a horrible career move when she quit the show a year before it ended. Generally, when actors quit the show that made them popular, they try to get into movies but Barton didn't venture into Hollywood at all. Instead, she returned home to England. In 2007, she appeared in the news for her DUI, for which she was given 36 months probation. None of this helped her career and while she should have been landing big movie roles, she was partying and getting into trouble for partying too hard. It was in 2009 when she fell from the public's favor after making too many negative headlines. By 2016, she was all washed up and she did what all washed up actors do: appear on Dancing With the Stars. Unfortunately, she was the second celebrity to get booted off. Due to years of partying and struggles with addiction, time has not been kind to the former It Girl.

8 Mel Gibson

After appearing in the Mad Max and Lethal Weapon movies, Mel Gibson was once a big action star who was also a total heartthrob. With movies like Braveheart and The Patriot, the actor/director was a very big deal. However, in 2006 things started to go downhill when he was pulled over for driving under the influence of alcohol. During his arrest, he went on a gender biased, anti-semitic, hateful rant, during which he said, "the Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world." This was all recorded on tape. As if he couldn't get any more despicable, audio tapes were leaked of the actor verbally abusing his ex-girlfriend, Oksana Grigorieva. However, none of this ruined his career and he was even nominated for an Academy Award for best director this year. Though Hollywood has been kind to Gibson, the years have not been as forgiving.

7 Chris Brown

Chris Brown once tried to come across as the cute, nice guy with his baby face and a puppy in hand but we found out that he was anything but. After the news broke that Brown had assaulted his then-girlfriend Rihanna, his reputation got worse and worse. After he was charged with battery, Brown broke a window in his dressing room after an interview at Good Morning America, stole a phone from a fan, shoved a woman to the ground at a club, punched a woman in the face in Las Vegas, attacked his former manager, and held a woman at gunpoint which led him to be detained by the LAPD. The singer, now only 28-years-old looks much, much older than he actually is. Though he is a vile human being, he still has managed to have a fairly successful career when his career should have ended in 2009. We can, at least, relish in the fact that he looks terrible and he'll get what's coming to him eventually.

6 Haley Joel Osment

Haley Joel Osment was once a successful child actor in the late 90s and early 2000s, starring in films like The Sixth Sense, A.I. Artificial Intelligence, and Secondhand Lions. However, his impressive resume hit its peak before the actor became an adult and now the 29-year-old actor's career is in a bit of a slump. Though he's starred in a few bizarre Kevin Smith movies, his transition from child actor to adult actor proved to be a difficult one. Though there are some child actors who became hugely successful adult actors such as Leonardo DiCaprio and Natalie Portman, most are not so lucky. Since Osment didn't grow up to be a heartthrob like Leo, the height of his career is behind him. We should cut him some slack though because reaching your peak as a pre-teen is a scary thought.

5 Brendan Fraser

Brendan Fraser was once the hottie with a body who starred in comedies and action movies alike. He starred in goofy kid's movies like George of the Jungle and fun action thrillers like The Mummy. He was everywhere until, all of the sudden, he was gone. He tried to make a sort of comeback with Journey to the Center of the Earth but he didn't sign on to do a sequel which ended up hurting him when they replaced him with Dwayne Johnson. Due to his bad luck with movie roles and personal troubles, Hollywood decided they just didn't need him anymore and he disappeared, appearing only now and then in viral photos that depict him as a chubby has-been. Fortunately for Fraser, there may still be hope. A core group of fans on Reddit have been working tirelessly on a plan to get The Mummy actor back on TV. We hope it works because he is sorely missed.

4 Russell Crowe

Russell Crowe recently landed himself in hot water after implying that women in Hollywood should act their age in movies, saying that the reason why older women didn't get roles because they try too hard to look young. Sorry, Russell, but older women in Hollywood don't get cast in movies because of gender issues and the only reason they try to look young is because Hollywood treats older actresses as spoiled goods and not as talented people with years of experience. It's totally unfair that the Gladiator actor's face looks like a moldy oatmeal raisin cookie but he has still been getting lead roles in big films for years (and was cast in Les Miserables even though he can't sing) while talented older actresses can only manage to get the supportive or nagging wife roles. So unfair.

3 Courtney Love

The fact that Courtney Love said in an interview that she learned to accept aging and to "let it happen" is inspiring but, in the same interview, she also criticized other famous women for having work done and that they look "ridiculous" and "unrecognizable." What makes this totally unfair is that she has had work done before and has been very open about it. She has said that she had a facelift at 35 and a nose job when she was 20 which, according to her, changed her whole world. Though there is nothing wrong with her praising women for aging gracefully, it's totally unfair for her to criticize them for having work done after she had work done herself! It's very hypocritical. Regardless, the rocker has never been one to follow the rules and her disheveled style definitely proves it. Her carefree rocker style was once cool and punk back in the day but now that she's in her fifties, it makes her look really old.

2 Angus T. Jones

The kid from Two and a Half Men has definitely changed a lot and that beard is certainly not doing him any favors. Angus T. Jones said that he left his hugely successful TV show due to his religious beliefs however. Jones is a follower of Christopher Hudson, a Seventh Day Adventist doomsday preacher who calls himself the Forerunner who believes that Jay Z, Rihanna, and Kanye West are all involved in a conspiracy that is linked with Satan. In a testimonial video, the former child actor said that he believed that Obama's stance on LGBT rights made him similar to Hitler. This transformation, which seemed to come out of nowhere, has made the 23-year-old look like one of those old Civil War generals with the giant muttonchops. Also, by the looks of his greasy hair, he probably showers about as frequently as a Civil War general too.

1 Jake Lloyd

Jake Lloyd had the misfortune of being in one of the most disappointing movies of all time when he was only nine years old. 16 years after the Return of the Jedi, The Phantom Menace premiered and it disappointed nearly every fan of the franchise. Many fans criticized Lloyd's acting chops even though it was really the clunky dialogue that was to blame for his mediocre performance. Since the rest of the cast of the Star Wars prequels had successful careers before they starred in the films, they managed to survive the aftermath but Lloyd was not so lucky. In 2015, he was arrested for reckless driving and resisting arrest then was moved into a psychiatric facility after being diagnosed with schizophrenia. It is truly unfair what happened to the young actor since it wasn't his fault that the movie was so terrible. After enduring bullying from classmates and dealing with the stress of 60 interviews a day, he retired in 2001 though the hateful words never stopped and angry fans followed him wherever he went.
