Actors have been known to work long hours, on location far from home and in strange or uncomfortable circumstances. Every nook and cranny of their life is plastered on the front pages of rumor-ridden tabloids. Their bodies are scrutinized and every word they say is criticized. Privacy is rare and pressure is immense. Yet, there are a lot, if not even more, reasons to admire some of the most famous actors. Their talent, their beauty, their bank accounts; it’s all worth at least a little bit of envy. They dress in designer clothes, receive invitations to the biggest events of the year and they even get to kiss some of the most gorgeous people on the big screen. Who wouldn’t want a day in the shoes of an actor?

But it’s learned throughout life that one must be careful of their wishes, because the grass isn’t always greener on the other side. In fact, what if those kisses are with someone they loathe? It doesn’t get much more awkward, uncomfortable or odious than that. Here are 15 actors that didn’t want to kiss their co-stars, let alone pretend to get down and dirty in the sheets with.

15 Shailene Woodley & Miles Teller: The Spectacular Now

[caption id="attachment_3396" align="alignnone" width="1024"] via MTV[/caption]

According to Variety, Woodley’s “granola” lifestyle made their kissing scenes a bit uncomfortable and unpleasant. Teller explained that before their romantic shots, Shailene would take Chinese dirt supplements that “smelled like crap.” And listening to Teller on SoundCloud, one can hear first-hand how kissing Woodley would have been much more enjoyable without the constant intake of the natural herbals that seemingly didn’t taste all that great. In revenge, he would chug Gatorade or eat a Honey Bun giving Shailene the same reaction as she’s disgusted by processed food and drinks.

14 Jennifer Grey & Patrick Swayze: Dirty Dancing

[caption id="attachment_3397" align="alignnone" width="1500"] via Glamour[/caption]

It’s become widely known that on the set of this iconic film, Swayze wasn’t too fond of Grey’s professional decorum. In his memoir, he writes about their moments of friction and her overly-emotional behavior. Allegedly, she would break down and cry if she ever received any criticism and would slip into silly moods” causing a large disruption and forcing scenes to be shot over and over again. Having to be romantic with someone that becomes such a frustrating part of the journey, it’s no surprise that kissing Grey wasn’t his favorite part of making the film.

13 Dakota Johnson & Jamie Dornan: 50 Shades of Grey

Thanks to Daily Mail, fans get an insiders’ look on all of those intense, sometimes raunchy, sex scenes throughout the 50 Shades of Grey film. Even Jamie Dornan, who stars as the mysterious Christian Grey, talks about how uncomfortable they were to shoot. But even more infamous than the novel and movie was the lack of chemistry between Dornan and Johnson. It has been suggested that neither actor was enthusiastic about their on-screen romance and filming the fantasy-esque intimacy.

12 Megan Fox & Amanda Seyfried: Jennifer’s Body

Even though Seyfried since admits watching the intimate scene between her and Fox in Jennifer’s Body is actually really sexy, when first told of the intimate part she wasn’t all too thrilled. “We knew that it was going to play a really big role in publicizing the movie, “ Amanda was quoted. “ We kind of rolled our eyes at the idea of having to make out.” Although the kiss was arguably used for shock-value, the movie never did get a huge following.

11 Helena Bonham Carter & Woody Allen: Aphrodite

Helena Bonham Carter spilled the beans that kissing Woody Allen is more work and trouble than it’s worth, even if it’s for filming a movie. According to Elle, Carter described Allen’s kissing as offensive. She says, “He tells you up front certain ways of kissing he doesn not want. No exchange of liquid is permitted. It can be a bit offensive because he makes no effort at all. It’s like kissing the Berlin Wall.”

10 Julia Roberts & Nick Nolte: I Love Trouble

Here, we have another case of “no chemistry.” And in an article by the LA Times, that lack showed up on screen. It’s been said that Roberts and Nolte didn’t get along, their tempers got the best of them and it went far enough that they began to insult and agitate each other on purpose. They even filmed most of their scenes separately. Years later, Roberts was caught referring to Nolte as a “disgusting human being.”

9 Marilyn Monroe & Tony Curtis: Some Like It Hot

The infamous quote says it all. Tony Curtis said that kissing Marilyn was “like kissing Hitler!” And in an interview with Daily Mail, fans can get an even more in-depth look at Curtis, big time movie star and playboy, and his relationship with Monroe. Although they were lovers in their youth, when filming for Some Like It Hot came around, “It was awful,” he says. “She nearly choked me to death by deliberately sticking her tongue down my throat…”

8 Kirsten Dunst & Tobey Maguire: Spider-Man

An iconic kiss, an iconic character … but what was behind that romantic, rainy scene? Pure awkwardness and complete discomfort. Maguire was quoted by Parade in 2007, “Probably the hardest thing I’ve had to do as Spider-Man was kiss Kirsten Dunst. When we shot that scene where we kissed in the alleyway and I was hanging upside down, it was really late at night, it was raining, and the whole time I have rainwater running up my nose. Then, when Kirsten rolled back the wet mask, she cut off the air completely.”

7 Steve Carell & Dwayne Johnson: Get Smart

[caption id="attachment_3404" align="aligncenter" width="600"] via Youtube[/caption]

In Get Smart, Johnson and Carell had to get … cozy. Men kissing men isn’t an uncommon practice in films, but for these two it wasn’t the most expected. Known for his muscles and his comedic background, respectively, it’s no surprise that their kissing scene wasn’t the most pleasant experience. And according to IMDB news, Johnson compared Carell’s tounge to that of kitty litter. Of course, he also compared his lips to that of the soft, supple part of a cat’s paw – obviously this was all in good fun for the friendly actors.

6 Alyson Hannigan & Jason Segel: How I Met Your Mother

[caption id="attachment_3407" align="alignnone" width="630"] via IMDB[/caption]

Debatably the most surprising of the bunch seemingly as though this couple had to kiss more than everyone on this list, at first, it was Hannigan that didn’t want to kiss Segel. When filming for the show began, Segel was a smoker – making every kiss full of the taste and smell. But because of how Hannigan felt about it, he decided to kick the habit and stop smoking completely. Thanks to her refusal, Segel quit smoking the day they started filming and he now lives a much healthier lifestyle.

5 Kate Hudson & Dane Cook: My Best Friend’s Girl

[caption id="attachment_3450" align="alignnone" width="840"] via IMDB[/caption]

In an interview with Andy Cohen, Dane Cook divulged that Kate Hudson was, in fact, his worst on screen kiss! And according to PopSugar he explained, “I think she purposely ate a feast of onions right before the scene. I had to burn her on that one.” Either way, the two had audiences laughing in their film My Best Friend’s Girl and still seemed to have quite the chemistry to make it a believable pairing!

4 Rachel McAdams & Ryan Gosling: The Notebook

[caption id="attachment_3439" align="alignnone" width="1024"] via:www.eonline.com[/caption]

The Notebook has become one of the most beloved romance films of this generation, but it wasn’t without its mishaps behind the scenes. After watching the film, no one could anticipate the drama that happened while filming which included some on-set conflict between the two actors that would eventually have a real-life romance! There was even an alleged yelling fit between McAdams and Gosling before they decided to sweep their beef under the rug and get the job done.

3 Reese Witherspoon & Robert Pattinson: Water for Elephants

[caption id="attachment_3443" align="alignnone" width="1280"] via:www.youtube.com[/caption]

Despite hoards of teen girls falling to the feet of the Twilight star, Witherspoon wasn’t too keen on kissing the chiseled, British actor. She even went on to describe their kissing scenes to MTV as “unpleasant,” because at the time, Pattinson had a runny nose! Even though it’s likely that fans of the actor would stand in line to kiss the hunky Edward Cullen (with or without snot dripping down his face), it’s no surprise that Witherspoon wasn’t thrilled about the experience.

2 Jennifer Lawrence & Bradley Cooper: Silver Linings Playbook

[caption id="attachment_3416" align="alignnone" width="800"] via The Daily Beast[/caption]

By now, JLaw and Cooper have been in a handful of movies together, but their first, Silver Linings Playbook, is where the kissing all started. And according to Hollywood Life, the wetness began. Appparently after their first kiss on set Lawrence called Cooper out saying, “You’re a wet kisser.” And even though he was dubbed The Sexiest Man Alive in 2011, there’s one woman that was none-too-impressed with his lip-locking abilities. They must have done some practicing though, because the last kiss in the SLP movie ended up winning a “Best Kiss” at the MTV Movie Awards!

1 Emma Watson & Rupert Grint: Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows

[caption id="attachment_3417" align="aligncenter" width="666"] via Hypable[/caption]

After a decade of working together and growing up on-set, it’s no wonder that Watson felt a bit weird kissing her co-stars. But when it came to Grint, she admitted in an article by the Daily Mail that it was the “weirdest.” She explained, “Dan and I could sort of have a laugh about it. Whereas Rupert’s a bit more quiet so I didn’t really know what he was thinking…”
