When it comes to chick flicks, men aren’t usually jumping for joy over a marathon night of romantic comedies and the chance to sip on rosé and gush over how hot Ryan Gosling is.

If it was up to them, odds are they would put on an action flick instead, typically anything to do with the action guru himself, Tom Cruise. Because of this preference, it’s hard to get your beau to agree to a night of a movie of your choice without him rolling his eyes or groaning in protest. To help compromise and make the process easier, follow our list of twelve chick-flicks even men will love.

Written and directed by Judd Apatow, “Knocked Up” is a rom-com that has it all: laughs, love and the ability to keep your man interested throughout.

The story revolves around Alison (Katherine Heigl) who, after a night of drinking, has a one-night stand with Ben Stone (Seth Rogan). In a twist she didn’t anticipate, she finds herself pregnant with Ben, someone she hardly knows and who comes from a different world from her. All in all, it’s a hilarious film that draws on themes of falling in love with the person you last expect and growing up for those you love.

The star-studded cast is filled with Saturday Night favourites, Kristin Wiig and Maya Rudolph, as well as Gilmore Girls alum Melissa McCarthy. All of who, helped turned the tide for female comedians in the entertainment business.

It revolves around the story of an out-of-work baker, turned maid-of-honor (Wiig) for her best friend’s wedding (Rudolph). Feeling threatened by the growing friendship of her best friend and Helen (Rose Byrne), she manages to ruin every part of her best friend’s wedding in a way that will have you laughing out of your seat.

Okay, yes, "The Notebook" is quite literally one of the most romantic movies of all time, one that includes passion, steamy love scenes, quotable lines that are still memorable today and tears—lots and lots of tears.

But if you ever want your man to get the reference when you wistfully give him the highest compliment that “he’s your Noah,” it’s a must-see film. The story follows the summer romance of Allie (Rachel McAdams) and Noah (Ryan Gosling). They come from different worlds—her family is wealthy, while he barely has two pennies to rub together. Despite this, their love is undeniable and strong enough that, even after a tour in the war, being apart for years and Allie being engaged to someone else, they find their way back to each other. Cue the tears.

It follows the story of a magazine journalist (Schumer) who has been taught by her father to fear commitment. All of this is brought to light when she finds herself falling for the nice guy, a sports doctor (Bill Hader). What ensues next is the real and honest portrayals of what it’s like to be a hot mess. It’s a perfect movie for a night of cuddling in bed with your beau and sharing a bottle of wine.

It follows the story of a pushy boss (Bullock) who, in order to stay and keep her job in the United States, has her assistant (Ryan Reynolds) pretend to be her fiancé.

It features a charming storyline that many men may relate to: realizing they’re in love with their female best friend. Only in this flick, it’s appears to be too late as his best friend, Hannah, (Michelle Monaghan) finds the man of her dreams while at a work trip in Scotland.

When Dempsey is given the role of Maid of Honor, him and his friends plot a plan to ultimately “steal the bride,” and make Hannah fall in love with him. It’s a flick that has multiple benefits: keeping your man interested and inspiring him to always go to extreme lengths to fight for you. Win-win.

The ending is definitely unlike anything you’d expect, making it so that your man can’t complain that all romantic comedies are the same.

After letting it slip to his co-workers during a poker game that he’s never had sex, his co-workers take him on a mission to finally do the deed. This leads Andy (Carell) to meet a nice single mom who he falls in love for, though the pressure to perform for the first time causes some trouble along the way.

Need some help prodding him to watch it? Just remind him of the hilarious and iconic waxing scene.
