12 Celebs Who Fell In Love While Filming (+ 10 Who Never Spoke Again)

It happens in the real world all the time: when two people are enclosed in the same workspace for a long period of time, feelings tend to shift. Sometimes it’s for the better and a person ends up falling head over heels in love with their co-worker. They find that they’re attracted to them and understand and admire their personality since they know so much about each other.

At work, we can see a person at their best and at their worst, so it makes since when co-workers end up falling in love with each other. The same thing applies to celebrities who end of falling in love on the set. The SET is their work environment, but unlike normal 9-to-5 jobs, sometimes they have to act like they’re in love with each other, and in the process, end up falling in love with each other for real.

The same thing applies for when we're in close proximity with a co-worker who we end up harboring hostile feelings towards. Sometimes, two people with clashing personalities who are on opposite ends of the spectrum will end up being paired together for a project that they have to fight to make it through.

Here are 12 celebs who ended up falling in love with each other while working together on the movie set, and 10 who clashed in the worst way possible.

22 Game Of Matchmaking – Kit Harington And Rose Leslie

Insider

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past decade, you’ve heard of a little HBO drama series called Game of Thrones. Even if you don’t watch it, you’ve probably heard the name Jon Snow, a character played by Kit Harington.

On the set, he happened to fall in love with the actress, Rose Leslie, who played Jon’s first love, a wildling by the name of Ygritte. While it didn’t really work out for the couple ON SCREEN, the pair ended up getting married in real life and have the most adorable relationship on the face of the planet.

21 Beautiful Souls – Penelope Cruz And Javier Bardem

They are two of the most beautiful international celebrities in Hollywood today, but not a lot of people know that actors Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz actually worked together LONG before they were married in 2010 and had their children, Luna and Leo, together.

But when they were brought together to work on the 2008 Woody Allen movie Vicky Cristina Barcelona, the two actors fell in love and never looked back. Over the years, both have learned to separate their personal life from their professional lives in order to live in harmony with each other on and off the set.

20 Match Made In Bel-Air – Will Smith And Jada Pinkett

Instagram

While she wasn’t one of his main girlfriends on the set of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, it didn’t take much for lead actor Will Smith to fell crazy in love with Jada Pinkett when she guest starred on the hit comedy series. The couple ended up getting married in 1997 and ended up raising their family in the public eye.

While they’ve both had their ups and downs when it comes to their relationship with the media (and their kid’s relationship with social media), they’ve been the poster couple for healthy Hollywood marriage for decades. But face it: you didn't even realize they worked together on screen!

19 In Real Life – Johnny Galecki And Kaley Cuoco

Instagram

On the CBS comedy The Big Bang Theory, it took a long while for Kaley Cuoco’s character Penny to fall in love with the literal boy next door, Leonard Hofstadter, played by actor Johnny Galecki. However, it didn’t take very long for both of the actors to fall for each other in real life. They did keep things on the down low, of course, so hardly anyone realized they were together.

However, as we know now, while their relationship didn’t pan out, the characters’ relationship did, and both Kaley and Johnny are still extremely close friends, which is why the chemistry on the screen is still very apparent. It's pretty adorable all around, right?

18 True Love – Anna Paquin And Stephen Moyer

Anna Paquin has been around Hollywood since she was a kid (and even won an Oscar when she was young) but she didn’t really start getting truly recognized until she starred in the HBO drama True Blood in 2008. There, she ended up falling in love with co-star Stephen Moyer on the set merely a couple of months after the show started shooting.

The thing is, they managed to keep their relationship under wraps for a full year afterward. We have to admit, that had to have been rather difficult, but maybe maintaining their privacy is part of the equation for a successful Hollywood union!

17 Rocky Starts – Rachel McAdams And Ryan Gosling

We all know the story to this one: boy and girl fall in love while filming one of this generation’s favorite love stories, The Notebook. The thing is, it was never that simple. In fact, both Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling were never fond of each other during the filming of the movie–they didn’t actually fall in love with each other until they were promoting the movie itself.

And the rest is history… or, rather, a depressing love story where the two end up breaking up down the line but still remain friends. Of course, we know how their respective love stories end, so we can be okay with the breakup now!

16 Ballerina Pairings – Natalie Portman And Benjamin Millepied

The movie Black Swan brought two important things in Natalie Portman’s life to her: an Academy Award, and her husband, choreographer Benjamin Millepied, whom she met on the set of the movie. The two worked together and a romance blossomed both on and off set, even though Benjamin wasn't actually in the movie.

Portman has been known to say that training to prepare to be a ballerina on screen was one of the toughest things she ever had to do in her life. But she made it through thanks to her husband. And thanks to her husband, we got to see her thrive in the role of a lifetime.

15 How Very Bond Of Them – Daniel Craig And Rachel Weisz

Since everything worked out the way Rachel Weisz and Daniel Craig hoped, it likely means that you probably didn’t even know that the two famous actors are actually married to each other in real life. After knowing each other for years, the duo actually got together in 2010 when they starred together in the movie Dream House.

In fact, they were together for only six months before they got married. The couple is actually extremely private about their lives together, which has made for a strong marriage. We admire them for keeping things under wraps this long. It can't have been easy!

14 The Cutest Of Couples – Emma Stone And Andrew Garfield

Getty

He played Peter Parker (aka, Spiderman) and she played his love interest, Gwen Stacy, back in 2010 in The Amazing Spider-Man and while Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone didn’t get together RIGHT away, it was clear they were falling for each other while filming.

Soon afterward, both actors split with their long-time partners but manage to keep their own romance under wraps. As we know now, while their romance didn’t seem to work out too well, they are extremely close friends and are often seen hanging around with each other. With that kind of history (and an epic love story), we totally get why they're still close.

13 The (Not So Much) Last Song – Miley Cyrus And Liam Hemsworth

Instagram

These two have been so on-and-off that fans never know where they really stand, or if they’re really married (yes, they are). For a decade, fans of Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth have been wondering if the two would ever tie the knot (or get back together, at some points) after they fell in love with each other on the set of the movie The Last Song.

They had their ups and downs, which usually ended in heartbreak for both actors, but they finally made it permanent and got married. The pair committed to each other recently in a private ceremony.

12 Mr. & Mrs. Smith In Real Life – Brad Pitt And Angelina Jolie

Us Magazine

Back when they were filming Mr. & Mrs. Smith, fans and onlookers were able to sniff out the chemistry from simple behind the scenes PHOTOS of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie even before the movie was released. Pitt was married to Jennifer Aniston at the time and both he and Jolie viciously denied the rumors that they had feelings for each other.

But shortly after filming wrapped, Pitt ended up divorcing Aniston and the rest is history. However, the couple has recently separated, and not exactly amicably. But they are sharing parenting responsibilities for the gaggle of children they adopted and welcomed together.

11 A Tad Odd – Michael C. Hall And Jennifer Carpenter

Getty

If you know the names Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter, chances are you were a fan of the Showtime drama series Dexter. On the show, the two actually played… brother and sister (to be frank, adopted brother and sister so they weren’t related by blood).

In the show, Carpenter’s character actually fell in love with her adopted brother, but BEFORE THAT, the two actors actually dated in real life but called it quits long before their characters realized they had feelings for each other. Talk about on-set drama! Of course, it seems like everything worked out fine, as the two continued to work together.

Lose My Number

10 Immaturity Is The Worst – Claire Danes And Leonardo DiCaprio

Zimbo

Teens every fawned over the love that seemed to project straight out of the movie screen during William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, where young heartthrobs Claire Danes and Leonardo DiCaprio played the doomed title characters. But in real life, the love wasn’t real. It just goes to show you how great these two actors' talents are!

Instead, the duo apparently couldn’t stand each other. DiCaprio was known at the time for playing pranks on the set, and Danes, who always took her craft seriously, found Leo to be annoying. Well, at least the onscreen chemistry still holds up nicely in the movie.

9 50 Shades Of Incompatibility – Jamie Dornan And Dakota Johnson

Getty

You wouldn’t want to believe it after watching of the 50 Shades of Grey movies, but if the rumors hold true, ohhhhh boy. Apparently, according to multiple insiders, actress Johnson was a “diva” on the set of the movies and she and Jamie no longer are on speaking terms with each other.

However, the claims were sourced from gossip sites, so it remains to be seen whether the actors and those surrounding them are denying the issue now that the movies are completed. Of course, that wasn't the only drama surrounding the 50 Shades franchise, and it's not really surprising either.

8 Not So Much The Time Of My Life – Jennifer Grey And Patrick Swayze

Popsugar

Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Gray were the IT onscreen couple of the '80s as their chemistry radiated through theaters with Dirty Dancing (especially the famous dance scene at the end of the film). But when Swayze’s autobiography “The Time of My Life” (named after the hit song that the couple famously danced to in the movie) came out, people learned that he wasn’t so fond of his co-star and onscreen love interest.

Swayze was apparently “annoyed” by the fact that Gray would act “too girly” and emotional during scenes. News flash: she’s a girl. Also, she was acting. But either way, the late actor was not Jennifer's biggest fan, no matter how much we believed in their on-screen romance.

7 Divas Ruin Everything – Stana Katic And Nathan Fillion

ABC

The ABC show Castle ran for eight seasons and was an extremely well-liked fan favorite. We loved the onscreen chemistry between lead characters Stana Katic and Nathan Fillion. However, it’s been reported that a feud between the two leads has been going on for YEARS.

“Stana Katic and Nathan Fillion completely despise each other,” one insider told Us Magazine. “They will not speak when they are off set, and this has been going on for seasons now.” This is all despite the fact that the characters even married each other later on in the series. Guess there are just some things you can’t get over.

6 Disgruntled Hosts – Anne Hathaway And James Franco

Getty

If you were like me during the 2011 Academy Awards, you were flinching hardcore in the worst way possible with what was taking place on the screen. I’m talking about James Franco and Anne Hathaway’s hosting gig. According to Vanity Fair, getting the two to host was an “ill-guided attempt to draw younger viewers to the telecast” and the entire attempt ended up blowing up in their faces.

Years later, Hathaway spilled that she had originally turned down the offer to host and regrets backtracking thanks to Franco, who had ended up persuading her. Apparently, it wasn't worth the opportunity to have to deal with him on stage!

5 Good TV Gone Wrong – Tisha Campbell And Martin Lawrence

TMZ

Martin Lawrence and his TV wife Tisha Campbell had electric chemistry on the hit comedy series Martin, and unfortunately, that chemistry actually is what hurt their relationship in real life. Apparently, the two actually had a brief relationship where Lawrence fell in love, but Campbell didn’t and she actually wound up married to someone else.

That apparently sent Lawrence off the deep end. Even though he ended up marrying someone else as well, he wanted Campbell to pay for the fact that she didn’t reciprocate his feelings, so, sources say, he intentionally made life difficult for her on the set.

4 Lack Of Work Ethic – Charlie Sheen And Selma Blair

Radar Online

Selma Blair played Charlie Sheen’s love interest on the show Anger Management for a time and in the beginning, everything was okay between the actors on the set. That is, until Blair started turning against Sheen, calling him lazy and questioning his work ethic.

Sheen was said to have fired Blair from the show via a text message and used some pretty strong language to do so. Though Sheen said she was fired by producers because her character was too boring when he appeared on The Tonight Show, we have a feeling he had more to do with it than he wants to admit.

3 Clash Of The Egos – Lindsay Lohan And America Ferrera

ABC

Originally, Lindsay Lohan was supposed to star in six episodes of the hit drama/comedy Ugly Betty, but it was cut down to four episodes after she clashed extremely hard with the series lead, America Ferrera. You’d think that would work well in the actor's favor, since the character Lohan was playing was an old high school nemesis of Ferrera’s character, but it was just a nuisance.

So much drama went down (including an infamous pants pulling incident) that they had to boot Lindsay from the show early. Of course, Lindsay's had some tough times over the years, so the issue probably didn't blindside anyone on set.

2 Battle Of The Aunt Vivs – Will Smith And Janet Hubert

Eonline

By now, EVERYONE and their dog has heard this feuding story–mainly because some of us literally watched it unfold ONSCREEN back when The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air was popular on TV. As we know, Aunt Viv was played by Janet Hubert at first, until her clashing with lead actor Will Smith got so out of hand that she had to be replaced “Soap Opera Style” from the hit comedy series.

She was replaced by Daphne Maxwell Reid, the only Aunt Viv the entire cast seems to recognize even decades later (when she and the cast get together for mini-reunions). That’s a whole lot of drama for a comedy series.

1 No Longer Besties In The City – Sarah Jessica Parker And Kim Cattrall

Vanity Fair

On the show, their characters were best friends who would bend over backward for each other at any given time. In real life, however, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall are actually enemies who won’t stop bickering even after the show had its final run AND two spin-off movies.

Actors on the show and movies even chose sides, some speaking out for Parker, calling Cattrall the diva, while others sided with Cattrall. Both have alluded to the feud in the past, including what sparked the negative chatter in the first place. But we really wouldn't have guessed that the pair weren't BFFs in real life, so kudos to them for keeping it professional on set.
