28With their brood of babies expanding, the Kardashians are passing on their legacy to the next generation. We started watching this family when youngest sister Kylie was just ten years old, but now every Kardashian/Jenner child (except Kendall) has a family of their own.

Trying to remember all of Kris Jenner’s grandchildren is tough, but among the Kardashian kids are Kourtney’s three, Mason, Penelope, and Reign; Kim’s three, North, Saint, and Chicago (and Kim has another one on the way!); Rob’s daughter Dream; Kylie’s daughter Stormi; and Khloe’s daughter True.

It’s certainly getting more difficult to keep up with the Kardashians!

Being one of the most famous families in the world, the Kardashians naturally have certain rules surrounding their children, and things people who come into contact with them can and can’t do. Most of these rules apply to their nannies, who care for their children when they can’t, and include guidelines about what words can be said in front of the kids and what the kids are allowed to wear.

There are also certain parenting techniques that the Kardashians encourage their nannies and relatives to adopt around their children. Check out our full of list of things people can’t do around these kids—and things that they are encouraged to do—below!

22 Against The Rules: Taking Pictures Of The Children

It makes sense that the Kardashians don’t like their staff to take pictures of their kids. BabyGaga reported that it’s a big no-no for any nanny to snap a photo of any of the Kardashian kiddies, as they want to be in control of all pictures of their children.

Once a nanny has taken a sneaky photo, there’s nothing stopping them from selling it to any media outlet for a huge sum of money, which would result in the Kardashians losing some control over their tightly controlled image and that of their children. Plus, they don’t want their kids being exploited. We get it!

21 They Encourage: Taking The Kids On Vacations

One thing the Kardashians are okay with, and might actually encourage, is for nannies and other caregivers to take their kids on vacations. Understandably, with such busy schedules, the sisters are often too busy to take their kids all the places they’d like to.

Their work demands mean they don’t always have time to vacation with their kids, so if someone else can step in and make sure that their kids aren’t missing out on those fun memories, it’s encouraged. That said, the Kardashians do still make time for family vacations, and sometimes they even bring the kids with them on work trips.

20 Against The Rules: Appearing On The Show With The Kids

While the Kardashians have a variety of nannies working for them, we never see any of these staff members on the show. According to an inside source who spoke to Heat magazine, the nannies are very present within the household, but they don’t get any screen time.

“It’s a well-oiled machine with three nannies moving around the house, bringing the kids in for a quick Snapchat with mum, then whipping them away again if they start to cry or make a fuss,” revealed the insider. Growing up under nannies isn’t foreign to the family since Kourtney, Kim, Khloe, and Rob were raised the same way.

19 They Encourage: Bribes When The Kids Get Difficult

Sometimes a mom’s gotta do what a mom’s gotta do! Bribing your kids probably isn’t ideal, but there are times when it’s called for to get something done. And that even applies to the Kardashians! Kim revealed through an IG post of daughter North modeling for her parents’ new clothing line that she sometimes gives her kids candy to entice them to behave.

The photo showed North with a lollipop and was captioned, “mom bribes.” If the Kardashians themselves resort to bribes every now and then, and their kids respond well to that arrangement, it’s probably safe to assume that the nannies follow suit.

18 Against The Rules: Letting The Kids Play In All Rooms Of The House

We’re sure that all the Kardashian mansions are filled with endless rooms that any child would love to explore. But according to Kim, many of those rooms are off-limits when it comes to playtime.

“Our home décor taste tends to be minimal and modern but the kids’ playroom is the one room in the house where I let them run wild,” the middle Kardashian sister revealed in an interview (via lol). “That’s where all the markers, paints and colors are … By the time they’re done there, they have no desire to take a pen to our white furniture …”

17 They Encourage: Putting The Kids Down For Regular Naps

Nobody understands the importance of beauty sleep better than the Kardashians! In an interview with The Daily Mail Online (via Redbook Magazine), Kim explained that napping isn’t just optional for her kids. “I’m really fun and playful, but I’m really strict on naptime and sleeping in her own crib.”

So we can imagine that the nannies would have to abide by the napping routine as well! While Kim is adamant about her kids sleeping in their own beds, Kourtney practices co-sleeping, where her kids sleep in the bed with her. This way, she doesn’t have to get out of bed if they cry at night.

16 Against The Rules: Spending Too Much Time Beyond The Gated Community

For their children’s own safety, the Kardashians like to know where they are at all times and make sure they’re in the best possible hands. Following Kim’s 2016 Paris scare, there are now six security guards outside her house at all times, and the family no longer shares guards between them but have their own to make sure they’re protected at all times.

It makes sense that the Kardashian children spend most of their time inside the gated community of Hidden Hills, California, where the security is extremely tight. Even the family members themselves get the third degree from security when they try to enter the gates!

15 They Encourage: Gifting Them Designer Clothes

The Kardashians are perhaps the most influential fashionistas on the planet, so it doesn’t come as a shock that they encourage others to gift their children designer clothes and accessories. It’s not the biggest deal if they receive no gifts, though, because the sisters can always buy these products themselves!

According to Life & Style, the children have their very own glam squad, which sets the family back $5,000 a week. “North has a wardrobe stylist, hairstylist and manicurist to doll her up every day,” revealed an insider. Though North hasn’t even reached double digits yet, she already has her own Hermès handbag and a jewel-encrusted Balmain dress.

14 Against The Rules: Using Certain Words Around Them

The children in this family are exposed to a lot, but there are certain words which their parents would like to keep them sheltered from for as long as they can. In one episode of KUWTK, Kourtney was quick to tell Kris Jenner how she felt after she used a negative body-shaming word to describe herself: fat.

“Don’t use that word in front of my daughter, please,” Kourtney said to her mom. And according to TheFrisky, research shows that Kourtney’s attitude is actually pretty healthy. Negative words like this aren’t necessary for a discussion about healthy lifestyles and habits with children.

13 They Encourage: Not Holding Them To A Schedule

Kim may be pretty serious about her children’s napping schedules, but Kourtney is a little more relaxed when it comes to their routine throughout the day. In an interview with Parenting, Kourt revealed that she prefers not to plan things for her kids and likes to go with the flow instead.

“I think you do whatever fits your lifestyle,” she said. “Some people have things planned from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., which works for them. But honestly, the best thing for Mason is just to be with me. When we are out, we just have so much fun. If we are cruising around, and he is napping in the car, it’s not the worst thing in the world.”

12 Against The Rules: Giving Them Too Much Junk Food

Between Kim’s post-pregnancy weight loss and Khloe’s body transformation, the Kardashians have been honest about the strict meal plans they follow. Kourtney is a lover of organic food, and since she follows a diet that is free of dairy and gluten, she likes her kids to eat the same way.

“I have noticed a great positive change in behavior with my children when we stick to a gluten-free and dairy-free diet,” she shared on her app. “I don’t think everyone needs to eat this way but we had muscle testing done, which showed we all have sensitivities to corn, gluten and dairy.”

11 They Encourage: Giving Them Natural Food And Drinks, Rather Than Those That Come Packaged

In addition to wanting her kids to stay away from unhealthy foods most of the time, Kourtney also prefers that they aren’t given things to eat and drink that come in plastic packaging. This might include not drinking things that require a plastic straw, and also staying away from processed foods that are packaged.

Of course, while Kourtney watches what her kids eat most of the time, there are exceptions to the rule. She revealed on her app that when they go to certain places, she will allow the kids to have treats that they normally wouldn’t have. For example, at the movies, they’re allowed to have popcorn, and at Disneyland, they’re allowed to have churros.

10 Against The Rules: Changing Their Appearances Too Much

The next generation of Kardashians are among the most photographed children in the world, so it’s easy to see why their parents are careful when it comes to their appearances. Kim revealed that she decides what North wears when she goes out in public, but even though she might dress her daughter in designer clothes, she doesn’t like her natural hair to change too often.

After receiving backlash from posting a photo of North’s hair straightened, Kim explained that she doesn’t normally let anyone straighten her hair: “[North] is allowed twice a year, on her birthday and birthday party [to straighten her hair]!”

9 They Encourage: Some Fun In The Salon Every Now And Then

Kim has a rule about how often North can straighten her hair, but she does seem to allow some hair extensions every now and then. When North was just two years old, she was photographed wearing long hair braided hair extensions to match her mom. And North isn’t the only Kardashian babe who rocks extensions every now and then.

When Kourtney’s daughter Penelope was just three, Khloe took her to a salon in Colorado, where she was treated to extensions that fell down to her waist. Khloe posted the photo to IG and captioned it, “I made her my mini me!!”

8 Against The Rules: Wearing Jewelry

The 2016 Paris incident had a long-lasting effect on the Kardashian family, and not just because it provoked them to permanently increase security. The thieves targeted the expensive jewelry that Kim had with her in her hotel room, so now she feels very differently about flaunting jewelry.

Now she refrains from flashing what jewels she does have and has made the decision to keep all her jewelry away from her home so she does not become a target of thieves again. According to BabyGaga, this rule also extends to her nannies and other staff members: nobody who works in Kim’s home is allowed to wear fancy jewelry.

7 They Encourage: Dressing To Impress

Their nannies and staff members may be forbidden from wearing jewelry in the house, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have to get dressed up. BabyGaga reported that the Kardashian nannies must dress decently, not only because they might be influencing the children, but because there’s a high chance that they’re going to be caught on camera.

And if photos emerge of them dressed improperly, it reflects negatively on the Kardashians. Nannies don’t appear on the show, but they still get snapped by paparazzi while out and about with the family, so it’s important for them to dress up!

6 Against The Rules: Showing Them KUWTK Footage

Believe it or not, but Khloe Kardashian wants to keep True in the dark about the KUTWK show for as long as possible. While True will undoubtedly find out about what her family does for a living as she grows up, she won’t be allowed to actually watch the show until she’s 13.

And similarly, Travis Scott, the father of Kylie’s baby Stormi, has revealed that he won’t be allowing his daughter to watch TV because he would prefer that she go outside and play. So if you’re a Kardashian nanny, plonking the kids down in front of the television isn’t an option!

5 They Encourage: Putting The Phone Away While Dealing With The Kids

The Kardashians seem to feel strongly about technology and the effect it has on their children. In addition to limiting what TV shows (if any) their kids can watch, they also have rules when it comes to the phone. Kim, in particular, doesn’t like to have phones around when the kids are there, as she likes her full attention, or the nanny’s full attention, to be on her kids.

“One of the rules I have about being present with my kids is I don’t have my phone when I’m with them,” she told People. “So, like story time at night, in the mornings getting ready, I just don’t have my phone.”

4 Against The Rules: Dressing Them In Certain Colors

There seem to be no limitations to what the Kardashian kids can and can’t wear, but that might not be the total truth. According to RadarOnline (via TheFrisky), a source revealed in 2015 that Kanye West doesn’t want his daughter North to wear pink. “The nanny has been tasked with making sure that North is never in pink, and [Kanye doesn’t] want Kim’s mom, Kris, or sisters to put her in the dreaded color,” said the source.

While we don’t often see North in pink, we have seen her in the color once or twice. It makes you wonder whether this rule has been exaggerated, or whether someone was fired after dressing North in pink!

3 They Encourage: Giving The Kids Hand-Me-Downs

The Kardashians welcome gifts from the likes of Stella McCartney and dress their kids in designer clothes. But Kourtney, in particular, likes her kids to wear hand-me-downs as well. Viralized reported that Kourt encourages her kids to wear previously worn clothes rather than buying them brand-new outfits all the time.

A lot of moms take this approach, but that’s usually because money is a problem. We don’t think that’s what’s driving Kourt’s decision to give her kids hand-me-downs! It may have more to do with her not wanting her children to end up being too entitled or addicted to new clothes.

2 Against The Rules: Keeping Them Busy With Video Games

The Kardashian nannies can’t turn to TV or phones when they want to entertain the children, and the same goes for video games. Both Kourtney and Kim have admitted that they have rules about how long their kids can spend playing video games.

“It’s tough to know what’s best for our kids when it comes to technology. Now that all my kids are over the age of two, I do allow them limited time to play video games and watch television,” Kourt shared on her blog (via TheFrisky). “We have a game room, so I allow 30 minutes of video game time during the week and an hour on the weekends.”

1 They Encourage: Looking After Their Kids For Long Periods Of Time

In between the Kardashian family vacations, they sometimes need to leave the kids with their nannies for longer than just one night. In 2018, Kylie, the youngest of the clan, traveled to France to meet up with Travis Scott and left daughter Stormi with her nanny and Kris back at home. The Daily Mail reported that the parents enjoyed time in Portugal and France, where Travis was performing, before Kylie returned home to reunite with her daughter.

Kim’s children were also absent from her 2016 trip to Paris, during which she was robbed. They need to trust all their nannies to look after their kids for extended periods of time, which is probably why the process of becoming a Kardashian nanny is so tough!
