For folks who have not seen the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, this article does contain spoilers. Although, if you are wondering why you should watch this show, you can skim the headlines to know why it is a must-watch.

Critically acclaimed and Golden Globe-winning show, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is on for a fourth season. The show was directed by Amy Palladino, the epic director and veteran creator of Gilmore Girls and stars Rachel Brosnahan as Miriam "Midge" Maisel.

In 1950's New York, a Jewish-American housewife supports her husband Joel's moonlight comedy hobby. In the first episode, he leaves her ultimately because he is unhappy with the cookie-cutter life that Midge worked so hard to create for them.

She questions why she set out for this kind of life, and how her expectations to be a perfect wife kept her from pursuing her dreams. After a drunken night, getting arrested, and befriending some folks in comedy, she pursues her real dream of becoming a comedian.

Season 2 and 3 are full of ups, downs and constant new beginnings but ultimately Mrs. Maisel breaks free of what society expects of a 1950's housewife to achieve her own goals. These are 10 reasons to be amazed by the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

10 She Uplifts Other Women In Her Community

In season one Midge decides to pursue her comedy career, she turns to the mentorship of women in her field. Initially, she does start a feud with who becomes the show's villain, Sophie Lennon but it does not stop her from being successful. Most women confront a conflict with another woman in their field because society has taught them to see women as competition. Midge learns this lesson the hard way, as many women do, and ultimately supports her manager Susie when Sophie offers her a job because she wants to see Susie be successful.

Professionally and personally, dealing with a conflict with another woman challenges a person's inner feminist. But learning from the mistake and changing that competitive notion makes the world a better place for future generations.

9  She Is Witty

In all situations, Midge uses her Witt to find a solution. From being arrested to convincing Susie to be her manager, her smarts are what get her a career in comedy. Midge must decide between choosing herself or being who others expect her to be. When she decides to let go of that notion and rely on her smarts, she achieves success in her career.

8 She Is A Feminist

The show is so critically acclaimed and loved by audiences because of Midge's transformation from a housewife to a comedian. Choosing to stay at home with your children can be just as feminist as being a working mom, but in the social context of the '50s, Midge steps into a male-dominated field where she was not expected to be. The act of taking a risk and breaking away from what she knew as her identity makes her a feminist.

7 She Is Relatable

The drunken nights and one-night stands with an ex are the moments where Midge reveals she isn't perfect and that's just another reason to make you fall in love with her character. She has three jobs, being a mom, a day job and her nighttime passion. No matter what field you work in, your passion project usually starts as a hobby before reaching a big break, like for Midge in season 2.

6 Mrs. Maizel Follows Her Dreams

In that dark moment hungover in the police holding cell, she realizes what she wants to do with her life and she proves willing to make it happen at all costs. From moving herself and two kids into her parent's home again, to working multiple jobs she is persistent. A moment comes in season 2 where she has to choose between her old life and the life she is still dreaming about and ultimately she chooses herself.

5 She Is A Good Friend

Susie and Midge go through some ups and downs, but Midge would not be where she is without Susie's support from the beginning. When Susie is offered a job by Midge's rival, Sophie, it causes a falling out. Ultimately Midge wants Susie to be successful, and she supports her friend. Women supporting women, and friends who support friends are essential.

4 She Chooses Herself

After breaking away from her old self, whom she grew up believing was her true self, it still takes time for her to come into her own. Her parents don't know about her side-gig until the end of season 2 and amidst the reveal, a handsome young doctor proposes marriage to Midge. In these moments she must choose between being someone's wife again, being the old self that hefamily wants her to be, and being the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Season three reveals she chooses herself over taking a step back into what is comfortable.

3 Being A Badass Single Mom

A divorced mom with two jobs in the 1950s wasn't unheard of by any means, but these women faced social scrutiny. When a partner leaves, and especially when there are children involved, it turns a person's world upside down. She takes that revelation and channels it into herself and her kids. Becoming the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is probably the best thing she could do as a mother, showing her kids that they too can become who they want to be.

2 Use Comedy To Process Trauma

From her first drunken set where she rants about her husband leaving her, to the persona that she takes on the stage, comedy is her form of therapy. While making jokes about someone's life is not exactly the best therapy practice, it is her way of moving on from her past. The stage becomes her platform to release the old and embrace the new. That is what art is for, channeling energy and sharing it with the world.

1 She Never Gives Up

In spite of hardship and challenges she never gives up. Midge fights for what she wants and becomes the person she is meant to be. She had made mistakes along the way, and season 3 leaves the audience unsure of what will come of her career and apartment. She has always figured it out before, season 4 is anticipated to bring more drama, laughter and growth for Midge.
