Throughout the history of the human race, there have been famous people that the rest of us average folks have watched from afar. However, there is no doubt that due to modern technology it has become easier to follow the details of celebrities' personal lives than it ever has been in the past.
As much as people are fascinated by the glamour and wealth that stars have access to, most celebrity gossip followers are far more interested in their love lives. As a result, some people have been really disappointed to learn that their favorite celebrity couple from the 2010s had broken up. On the other hand, there are some celebrity couples from this decade that the masses are really rooting for. With all of that in mind, it is time to look at this list of 10 power couples from the 2010s that never made it and 10 that we hope keep going strong.
In order for a celebrity couple to be considered for possible inclusion on this list, they first and foremost need to have dated during the 2010s, according to public reports. On top of that, half of the couples that were in the running are still going strong today as far as we can tell. On the other end of the spectrum, the other couples have broken up.
20 Never Made It: Billie Lourd and Taylor Lautner
An actor who is very much on the rise, Billie Lourd has appeared in the last two Star Wars movies and she starred in the TV show Scream Queens as well as multiple seasons of American Horror Story. The child of Hollywood royalty, in recent years Billie Lourd has dealt with a lot of sadness after her mother Carrie Fisher and grandmother Debbie Reynolds passed away only four days apart.
However, things in her private life haven’t been all bad as she dated former Hollywood heartthrob Taylor Lautner for eights months from 2016 to 2017. Unfortunately, they weren’t able to make things work but they seem to have broken up on good terms and been happy with one another while they were together.
19 We Hope Keep Going Strong: George Clooney and Amal Clooney
As an incredibly accomplished lawyer in America, Amal Clooney has represented the likes of the former prime minister of Ukraine, Yulia Tymoshenko, and Julian Assange. As a result, it is pretty amazing that she has married someone who is more famous than her but there is no doubt that George Clooney is one of the most famous men on the planet.
Best known for movies like the Ocean’s series, Up in the Air, Gravity, and many more, he is both a big movie star and a critically acclaimed actor and director. Introduced when both were in Italy in 2013, George and Amal got married in 2014, they now have twins together, and remain happily married.
18 Never Made It: Amanda Seyfried and Justin Long
First introduced to a lot of people when she starred in the classic teen comedy Mean Girls, since then Amanda Seyfried has put together a pretty fantastic career for herself. A major part of the Mamma Mia series of films as well as other films like Jennifer’s Body, Ted 2, and First Reformed among others, Seyfried also starred in the wildly underrated movie Chloe.
Much more of a comedic actor, Justin Long has starred in several popular films, including DodgeBall: A True Underdog Story, Accepted, Drag Me to Hell, and several others. Together for more than two years in the mid-2010s, Long is said to have been heartbroken when his relationship with Seyfried came to an end.
17 We Hope Keep Going Strong: Ewan McGregor and Mary Elizabeth Winstead
Made world famous when he gave a stellar performance in the movie Trainspotting, Ewan McGregor has starred in a long list of major movies, including the Star Wars prequels and Big Fish. Also an accomplished actor in her own right, Mary Elizabeth Winstead has been exceptional in the TV show Fargo and movies like Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and 10 Cloverfield Lane.
Probably the most controversial couple on this list, when McGregor and Winstead first met he had four children with a woman he’d been married to for more than 20 years. However, after the two actors co-starred in Fargo together, McGregor left his wife in 2017 and immediately began dating Winstead. Despite the background of their relationship, McGregor and Winstead seem really happy together so we hope they can make things work.
16 Never Made It: Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson
Definitely one of the most talked about and successful pop stars in the world today, Ariana Grande started out as a Nickelodeon star but she became an even bigger deal after she crossed over into music. On the other hand, Pete Davidson started out as a comedian who often turned heads with his jokes before he wound up starring in Saturday Night Live for several seasons.
The kind of celebrity couple that befuddled people all over the world, Grande and Davidson seemed to make each other happy for a while. However, after a whirlwind relationship and engagement, the pair broke up but have mostly been very complimentary of one another since then.
15 We Hope Keep Going Strong: Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez
The very definition of a triple threat, it often seems like Jennifer Lopez is great at all aspects of being an entertainer. After all, she first rose to fame as a dancer on In Living Color, she has gone on to release may hit songs, and she starred in successful movies like Out of Sight, The Wedding Planner, and Maid in Manhattan.
While Alex Rodriguez’s career is a lot more straightforward, he was good enough as a third baseman that it seems certain he is destined to be inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame. Together since February 2017, Lopez and A-Rod announced they were engaged in March 2019 and whenever they talk about one another during interviews they seem entirely smitten.
14 Never Made It: Demi Lovato and Wilmer Valderrama
Still best known for portraying Fez from That '70s Show, Wilmer Valderrama played that popular character for eight seasons. However, that sitcom ended in 2006 and since then Valderrama has almost entirely disappeared from the limelight even though he has landed roles in several other series.
Despite the fact that most people seem to have moved past Valderrama long ago, he managed to steal the attention of a true pop princess, Demi Lovato. In fact, Lovato has said that when she first met Valderrama it was love at first sight which is why the pair was a couple from 2010 until 2016. On the bright side, they seem to still be on very good terms since their breakup.
13 We Hope Keep Going Strong: Emma Roberts and Evan Peters
Emma Roberts first started acting as a child and she has gone on to star in shows like American Horror Story and Scream Queens, on top of movies like Scream 4 and We’re the Millers.
Definitely best known for his role as Quicksilver in the X-Men series of films, Evan Peters has also starred in every season of American Horror Story. Seen sharing many AHS scenes together over the years, Peters and Roberts have obvious onscreen chemistry together which evidently has transferred into their private lives.
Together on and off since 2012, at times their relationship has been explosive but that appears to be in the past and they are engaged today.
12 Never Made It: Rosario Dawson and Eric Andre
An actor who has proven time and time again just how talented she is, Rosario Dawson has been consistently great in her lengthy career. In fact, she was so compelling in movies like Kids, 25th Hour, Shattered Glass, Sin City, and many others, that when she is involved in a film we are a lot more likely to give it a chance.
Then you have Eric Andre, an actor, comedian, and host who has a devoted fan base but is the kind of entertainer that a lot of people recognize but can’t place where they know him from. Two performers with wildly different careers when they first began dating, Dawson and Andre were an odd couple that still made things work for more than a year before their breakup.
11 We Hope Keep Going Strong: Timothée Chalamet and Lily-Rose Depp
Only 23 years old at the time of this writing, Timothée Chalamet already is one of the most critically acclaimed actors in Hollywood. Stellar in movies like Call Me By Your Name, Lady Bird, and Beautiful Boy, he already has been nominated for an Oscar and it seems like only a matter of time before he gets to take one home.
Still in the early stages of getting her acting career going, Lily-Rose Depp has already starred in several movies and she is set to appear in several others on top of having a career as a model. Rumored to be a couple for a while before they kissed in public, thus confirming their relationship status, they look lovely together and it is really sweet that they’ve ignored the peering eye of the public.
10 Never Made It: Charlize Theron and Sean Penn
Easily one of the best actors of her generation, Charlize Theron has won an Oscar, Golden Globe, and something called a Silver Bear Award for Best Actress. Best known for movies like Monster, Snow White and the Huntsman, Prometheus, and Mad Max: Fury Road, Theron is also one of the most glamorous people on the planet.
On the other hand, Sean Penn may have had an incredible career as the star of movies like Dead Man Walking and Milk, but these days he looks about as tired and annoyed as any actor in Hollywood.
For that reason, it was pretty surprising when Penn and Theron became a couple and even got engaged briefly before they broke up two years into their relationship.
9 We Hope Keep Going Strong: Brie Bella and Daniel Bryan
Most often seen in the WWE alongside her twin sister Nikki, Brie Bella has accomplished a lot in the business, including being a WWE Divas Champion.
Famous around the world long before he signed with the WWE, since joining the company Daniel Bryan has become a 4-time WWE Champion and 1-time World Heavyweight Champion. At one time paired together in a WWE storyline, at the time Bella and Bryan didn’t really know one another but sparks flew and they soon began seriously dating.
As seen in “reality” shows like Total Divas and Total Bellas, they have since gotten married, had a daughter named Birdie together, and they hope to have another child soon.
8 Never Made It: Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston
Such a big pop star that she is able to buck the business trends without damaging her career, Taylor Swift used her power to force Spotify to give her a groundbreaking streaming contract. Best known for songs like “Shake It Off,” Love Story,” “Bad Blood,” and “Look What You Made Me Do,” in terms of her career, it seems like everything Swift touches turns to gold.
Also very successful, Tom Hiddleston’s portrayal of Loki in the MCU is so beloved that he is set to star as the character in an original TV show in the near future. A pairing that surprised a lot of people, in part because Hiddleston is nearly 10 years older than Swift, the couple had a whirlwind three-month romance and still seem to think highly of one another.
7 We Hope Keep Going Strong: Cara Delevingne and Ashley Benson
Someone that first became a model at only 10 years old, Cara Delevingne has been able to rise to the top of that industry and was even named the Model of the Year at the 2012 British Fashion Awards. Evidently not content with that alone, Delevingne has also become an actor who has starred in movies like Paper Towns, Suicide Squad, and Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.
Also a successful actor, Ashley Benson is best known for starring in the show Pretty Little Liars and she was a major part of the film Spring Breakers. First spotted together in 2018, Delevingne and Benson never seemed to care about defining their relationship for onlookers but they obviously are together and really comfortable in each other’s arms.
6 Never Made It: Chloe Bennet and Logan Paul
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is best known as the highest grossing film franchise of all time but it has also spawned its fair share of amazing television, including the underrated show Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. As one of the main stars of that show, at times Chloe Bennet hasn’t been given the credit she deserves but she has been key to the series’ lengthy run.
For his part, Logan Paul is a hugely successful YouTuber and a highly controversial figure who is loved by his fans and greatly disliked by many others. Together for a short period in 2018, Bennet wrote on Twitter that Paul “changed my life for the better and I’ve done the same for him.”
5 We Hope Keep Going Strong: Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx
Considering that Jamie Foxx exudes confidence, charm, and charisma from his every pore, it only seems natural that he has become a hugely successful actor. Of course, it also doesn't hurt that he was spectacular in movies like Any Given Sunday, Ray, and Collateral.
Also no stranger to the spotlight, Katie Holmes first became famous when she starred in the show Dawson’s Creek and she went on to be in the blockbuster movie Batman Begins. Previously involved in a much talked about marriage, after Holmes got divorced from Tom Cruise she seemed to be single for a long time.
However, it eventually came out that she and Jamie Foxx had secretly been a couple for a long time and whenever they are captured on film together they seem downright joyous.
4 Never Made It: Seth MacFarlane and Emilia Clarke
When it comes to the television scene in 2019, nothing is more anticipated than the final season of Game of Thrones. As one of the show’s biggest stars, Emilia Clarke has brought Daenerys Targaryen to life since the series began and she also got the chance to portray Sarah Connor on the big screen as well as be part of a Star Wars film.
As the man behind shows like American Dad, Family Guy, and The Orville, on top of the Ted movies, Seth MacFarlane has definitely become a powerhouse in the business. What a lot of people may not have realized, or currently remember, is that Clarke and MacFarlane were a couple for six months in the year 2013!
3 We Hope Keep Going Strong: Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas
As someone who started out as a member of a pop-rock group before going on to become a solo star, Nick Jonas has real musical talent. Able to release several hit solo albums, he also is confident enough that he reunited with his former bandmates and real-life brothers to record new music that is bound to be a hit in 2019.
Best known as an actor, some people may not realize that on top of Priyanka Chopra making it as a Bollywood and Hollywood star she has released three singles and won the Miss World 2000 pageant.
Only together since mid-2017, Jonas and Chopra seem to love hanging out with both of their families and their 2018 wedding was so amazing that it would be really sad to see their marriage end.
2 Never Made It: John Cena and Nikki Bella
For a while there, the WWE had its own dream couple as two of their popular wrestlers had got together. Definitely the WWE's biggest star during their so-called PG Era, John Cena headlined one WrestleMania after another and he became a 3-time World Heavyweight Champion and 13-time WWE Champion.
Also a really big deal for the company, Nikki Bella is a 2-time WWE Divas Champion who had the longest single reign with that belt in company history, and she starred in Total Bellas and Total Divas.
Eventually paired up in the WWE, Cena proposed to Bella in the middle of the ring at WrestleMania 33. Unfortunately, after accepting the proposal, Bella realized she’d made a mistake and called off their entire relationship!
1 We Hope Keep Going Strong: Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively
When it comes to any list of the most lovable celebrity couples in the world today, it simply wouldn’t be complete if Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively weren't on it. Two actors who met when they co-starred in the almost universally panned superhero movie Green Lantern, their relationship seems to be the only good thing to come out of that film.
Hilarious whenever they appear in public together or take joking swipes at one another on social media, even though both were involved with other celebrities in the past they seem to be perfect for each other. When you factor that in with the fact that they share two children together, we really hope they spend the rest of their lives happily together.
