Hair loss is a human experience, and for most people, it is related to aging, although stress and lifestyle can play into the rate of hair loss.

All people will experience hair loss with age, according to doctors, 1 in 5 Americans are struggling with hair loss. Hair loss, medically known as alopecia can occur in patches or thinning over time. Reasons for hair loss that aren't related to aging, or that affect the rate of hair loss include hormonal changes, stress, genetics and other medical issues, says Mayo Clinic.

Whether you are or aren't yet experiencing thinning hair, keeping your scalp healthy can prevent thinning hair and even promote hair growth. There are many at-home, natural hair masks that can be applied once or twice a week to maintain a healthy scalp. When thinking about which hair mask is right for you, think about natural foods and oils that contain potassium and will essentially apply vitamins directly to your scalp.
