In the world of entertainment, it is often hard to tell what is real and what is fake. Celebrities, for the most part, have the spotlight on them at nearly all times. They have to look appealing when they are engaged in whatever their profession happens to be. They are tended to by make-up artists and beauticians before they display their talents for all to see. Some celebrities have many other enhancements and have even insured such things as their body parts. We have heard many people gossip about what is real and unreal about a person, and this gossip is especially widespread amongst the entertainment field. One thing that people are concerned about is their hair. Some people have easily manageable hair, and others have bad hair days all of the time. When we look at these celebs hairstyles, it may be hard to tell if that celeb is sporting their real hair or wearing a wig to cover up what may be a disaster. Who are these celebs who rock their natural hair, and which ones are wearing wigs?

19 Real: Amandla Stenberg

Amandla Stenberg has worn various types of hairstyles over the past few years. Sometimes Amandla wears her hair in rainbow braids and other times she has been seen with her natural hair in the style of an afro.

Amandla did have to learn to love her natural hair, though.

According to Hellogiggles, she stated “I’ve gone through so many different hair stages. My first stage was when I was younger, and I thought my hair was too big, so I always kept it in this giant poof on top of my head. I wasn’t that great at doing ponytails, and so it was always really messy.”

18 Wig: Katy Perry

The purpose of a wig is to create a realistic look, and singer Katy Perry has been able to pull that off. Her talents do not just include singing- she has a gift for being creative in other areas too.

Perry's hairstylist Shon Hyungsun Ju revealed how he is challenged by Perry to get the perfect look.

According to Refinery29 he said natural looks are tough to achieve. Her hairstylist, Shon Hyungsun Ju told Refinery29, "Katy is a client that constantly challenges me creatively. Her wigs are always unique, but need to look as realistic as possible- there's no retouching on the red carpet."

17  Real: Serena Williams

The tennis court is not the place for wearing wigs. The sight of a flying wig during the height of competition would be embarrassing for an athlete's image. Tennis phenomenon Serena Williams has been spotted wearing different hairstyles on and off the tennis court.

She usually keeps her hair in a ponytail style while sweating it out on the tennis court. She always sports her natural hair and has styled her hair in ponytails and various braided patterns. Her noticeably long natural hair could not be ignored at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's royal wedding which occurred this past May.

16 Wig: Sia

It is common for celebs to conceal their identity while being in public.

Being in the spotlight all of the time can be a hassle, and singer Sia has her reasons for donning her wigs, some of which cover almost all of her face.

According to Glamour, she explained to Ellen Degeneres, "Well it's just so that I can go to Target and buy a hose if I want to, or if I find I'm in need of a restroom, I can go in the side of the road and no one would be following me with a camera trying to get a shot."

Singer and actress Zendaya has seen the light and has chosen to wear her hair naturally.

The former Disney teen star knows about the negative results that come about after long periods of intensely styling hair.

She is happy about her hair being in its natural state and she let the world know about these types of potential hair damaging procedures via Instagram. According to her Instagram post, she stated: "When you've spent the past however many years growing your damaged hair back, avoiding heat, wearing wigs and trying every natural product in the world and you finally see a little curl pattern comin back... #yeslawwwwd."

Many people may think that the glamorous Angelina Jolie does not cover her natural hair with a wig. But there has been a surge of celebs that are wearing wigs and it has been going on for quite some time. Why wouldn't Angelina try the trend?

Since Jolie's appearance has changed over the span of her career, many women have tried to emulate her look. There are actual wigs that are modeled after her hair due to the beauty icon she has become. But she's also been spotted on the red carpet visibly donning wigs, while other times it looks like she's wearing her natural hair.

Looks may be deceiving when it comes to Beyoncé's hair. Some believe she wears her hair naturally, and others say she either wears extensions or wigs. She has been known to straighten her hair and has done so for many years. She's also worn a variety of hairstyles over the years which leads some to believe that Beyoncé does not wear her hair naturally.

According to BET, Beyoncé's hairstylist Neal Farinah attempted to put skeptics to shame by posting an image of Beyoncé on his Instagram page with the caption "LOVE MY JOB. THIS IS HOW U SLAY YOUR NATURALLY CURLY HAIR."

12 Wig: Chrissy Teigen

Celebs wonder about the big fuss over natural and fake hair. There are celebs that say it does not matter what a person wears on their head.

But Chrissy Teigen has to have the perfect look as a model and alterations to her appearance are common.

Still, she has been vocal about people who wear their natural hair and questions why women feel the need to cover theirs up. According to the Huffington Post, Teigen says: “I don’t know why people want to pretend that they have this natural, full hair. I’ve just never cared about it for some reason… it’s just so silly to me."

11 Real: Solange Knowles

Solange Knowles is the talented sister of singing sensation Beyoncé who has had some trouble not wearing her hair naturally. She has had some bad experiences in the past when she did not wear her hair naturally.

But she refused to let her hair take control of her and switched to her current natural look.

According to Essence, Solange stated: "[Before going natural], I was working out, swimming and going on vacations with my son, and I always felt as if my hair held me back. Cutting it off was a pivotal moment. I enjoy not having to worry about it."

Celebs are defined by their particular style and appearance, and Nicki Minaj is known to have an endless supply of wigs. Every time you look up she is sporting some type of colored wig. Who can possibly keep up with all of her wigs that have defined her over the years?

Terrence Davidson is the lucky person who makes wigs for Nicki Minaj. It makes you wonder just how many wigs Nicki Minaj actually has. According to Allure, Davidson says "Each wig is on a shelf; it's like a library." He goes on to say, "She's going to have to start paying rent!"

Sometimes it is necessary to wear a wig, as was the case for actress Viola Davis. She wears her natural hair because of problems that she had with alopecia. She feels fortunate to wear her hair naturally because of the malady she had when she was younger.

According to Blackdoctor, she explained her situation about having to wear wigs at one time: I woke up one day and it looked like I had a Mohawk. Big splash of bald on the top of my head”. She also said “I was like, What is this? Until I found out it was stress related. That’s how I internalized it. I don’t do that anymore."

Kim Kardashian West loves to experiment with her looks. So it's convenient that she has her wigs designed by well-known wig aficionado Tokyo Stylez. Stylez also designs wigs for those who are associated with the Kardashians as well. Kim happened to convince people that her hair was real at Kanye West's fashion show in 2016, but she later confessed that she was actually wearing a platinum blonde wig.

According to Daily Mail, she exclaimed: "I brought the platinum back!" in a tweet. "I looooveeee being a blonde, and this time I can change it up if I want, because—thanks to Tokyo Stylez —it's just a wig!"

Actress Kerry Washington is known for her curly hairstyle that she rocks frequently. The "Scandal" star wears her hair straight on the show because the entertainment industry requires her to do so.

Kylie Jenner has been able to switch things up with her various hairstyles and has inspired several trends. She has worn her hair in cornrows and bobs, but she has also added various colors to her hairstyles as well.

Kylie happened to get the inspiration for her hairstyles from none other than Tokyo Stylez. He has a list of A-list celebs that he designs wigs for and Kylie gets her wig ideas from him. According to Allure, Stylez revealed: "Kylie reached out to me because she'd seen my work on Instagram, and she started to send me pictures of looks that she wanted to re-create."

1 Real: Leona Lewis

Vocalist Leona Lewis has a reason for wearing her hair naturally. Leona wears her hair because of a health scare. She made a drastic change in her life after finding out that she was diagnosed with a thyroid condition known as Hashimoto disease.

According to Essence, she stated, " I just got to a point where I wanted to start over physically and emotionally. I started eating better and I stopped straightening my hair."  She went on to say, "From there I began to shift my entire beauty routine. Having an autoimmune disease really made me take a long, hard look at how I can reduce the toxins I come into contact with daily. "
