As great as being a celebrity may seem, having photographers following you everywhere you go would get pretty annoying after awhile. While most of the time, the paparazzi manages to snap mundane pictures of celebrities doing regular things like leaving restaurants or going grocery shopping, sometimes they snap something interesting and sometimes even scandalous. It's hard to be sneaky when you're a celebrity and even the sneakiest celebs have gotten caught by the paparazzi and sometimes even by hidden security cameras. As a celebrity, you can't be too careful out there. The tabloids can be ruthless and they'll do whatever they have to do to get a story.
While some of these celebrities were caught in the act by the paparazzi, some of them were dumb enough to do bad in front of rolling cameras or even on their own Snapchat and Instagram stories. Some celebrities should really not be allowed to use social media. We all know that celebrities deserve their privacy and shouldn't be hounded by photographers but it is gratifying to see cheating celebs get caught and get their just deserts. Nobody likes a cheater. However, some of these celebs weren't caught cheating at all but were caught breaking the law such as the celebs who are pictured with drugs, shoplifting, or hooking up with underage girls. Yikes. These are all of the bad things that celebs have done in front of a camera.
15 Baby Blanket
It's been fifteen years since Michael Jackson dangled his son Blanket over the balcony railing at the Adlon Hotel in Berlin. Soon after the incident, Jackson apologized for what he had done and said in an interview that he never meant to harm his child but when he saw all of the people who were waiting outside the hotel, hoping to catch a glimpse of him, he claimed that he just "got caught up in the excitement of the moment." Thankfully, Blanket wasn't harmed but the scene was nothing short of disturbing. Blanket is 15 years old now and he does not go by his birth name, Prince Michael Jackson II, and he doesn't go by his nickname Blanket either. Instead he goes by the name Bigi Jackson after he was bullied at school for his other names.
14 Baby Stumble
Back when Britney Spears was being hounded by the paparazzi all day and all night, there were a lot of photos of her doing things that weren't entirely appropriate. Though the images of her wielding an umbrella with her bald head glistening in the moonlight are iconic, the time when she almost dropped her son is pretty scandalous, especially since she had just gotten in trouble for driving with her son in her lap. When Britney was walking to her car, she tripped on one of her shoelaces and almost dropped her infant son, Sean Preston. Luckily her bodyguard reacted quickly and helped recover him before he fell to the ground. Luckily, Sean is okay and he's 11 years old now. Britney was given a lot of hate for this incident but she was going through a lot at the time.
13 Snake
Since Taylor Swift is back in the news again for her upcoming album, it seems fitting to bring up this gem again. After Kanye West released his song "Famous" in which he mentions the singer and also refers to her as a "b**ch, she claimed that he never told her about the lyrics and she was offended by them. Kim pulled out the receipts and uploaded a video to Snapchat which was a recording of Kanye calling T-Swift and tell her about the lyrics personally and it was the best thing that happened in 2016. Taylor was caught in a lie and it definitely hurt her reputation. However, it shouldn't be a surprise that her newest single is all about Kanye West since her career has been built on feuds and dissing ex-boyfriends. Time will tell if she can recover from this major scandal.
12 Sweet Moment
Ariana Grande experienced a scandal that no other celebrity had experienced before when she licked a donut at Wolfee Donuts in Lake Elsinore, California. Luckily for us, it was all caught on the security camera and she will forever be known as the doughnut-licker. Though licking a donut isn't exactly illegal or necessarily immoral, it is disgusting. She made the whole situation worse, however, when randomly proclaimed that she hated America to one of the employees which was also recorded. She later said in a statement that she was a believer in “healthy eating” which she then turned a speech about how Americans need to be more careful about what they eat. Thanks to Ariana, we now know that we really do need to be more careful about what we eat because if we’re not, we could end up eating something that she licked.
11 Not So Royal Behavior
Though Kate Middleton didn't exactly do anything wrong, this story is a scandal for the ages. In 2012, a collection of long-lens photos of Princess Kate swimming in the pool in France without a top were released to the public and all hell broke loose. Whatever Kate wants to do in the privacy of her own home (or vacation home) is her business and if she wants to swim topless, that's her prerogative. However, some photographers thought it was fair game. Though the idea of a member of royalty swimming topless is pretty scandalous, we should never have gotten that glimpse into her private life. Five years after the photos were published, three photographers and the former publishing director of La Provence are on trial for invasion of privacy and complicity.
10 Going Over Movie Lines
Back when the Twilight movies were a big deal, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson were the ultimate young power couple. However, once the franchise was coming to a close, Stewart starred in Snow White and the Huntsman and had an affair with the director, Robert Sanders, during filming and the two were caught by the paparazzi. Now as we look back, the Stewart/Pattinson relationship may have been faked for the press but at the time, the idea that their seemingly perfect relationship was on the rocks was shocking. It was K-Stew who was blamed for the affair even though Sanders actually cheated on his wife, with whom he had two children. Her career suffered from the ordeal but she left it all behind her. She's currently dating the model, Stella Maxwell, and the two seem much happier together than she and R-Patz ever were.
9 Scott Eastwood's Ex
Though we wanted to believe that it was lasting love, throughout Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore's relationship there were many rumors of cheating. It turns out that there were multiple women he was hooking up with behind his wife's back. Many women have come forward to say that they spent the night with Kutcher while he was still married to Moore and we don't know for sure if their allegations are true or not, we do know that Sara Leal hooked up with Kutcher along with another woman. Though Leal was photographed by the paparazzi in Kutcher's car, Scott Eastwood, who is Leal's ex-boyfriend also confirmed that she had hooked up with the That 70s Show star. Though he and his current wife Mia Kunis seem to be blissfully in love, we hope for her sake that he has changed his ways for good.
8 Shoplifting Scandal
Winona Ryder was a huge star in the late 80s and all throughout the 90s but her career went downhill fast after a major scandal that happened in 2001. She was caught on the security camera stealing thousands of dollars worth of clothing from Saks Fifth Avenue in Beverly Hills even though she could afford all of it--she was a big star after all. Though the incident hurt her career, the Heathers star has recently said in an interview that it actually helped her personal life. Up until that point, the actress said that she was getting involved in some bad stuff, she was vague about what exactly she was having trouble with, but the arrest helped to snap her out of it. Looking back, the whole scandal was blown way out of proportion and it hurt her career much more than Rob Lowe's hurt his. That's Hollywood for you.
7 ...Speaking Of Which
Rob Lowe was a teenage heartthrob back in the 80s but he suffered a blow to his career that hurt him for several years--though it should have killed his career for good. In 1988, the St. Elmo's Fire star was involved in a scandal caused by a videotape that depicted him getting physical with two girls who he met in downtown Atlanta at a bar. It was later discovered that one of the girls was only 16 years old. Since Lowe claimed that he didn't know that she was underage, he only got 20 hours of community service for his crime which is totally unfair. First of all, taping yourself getting intimate with two girls you just met is disgusting enough as it is but the fact that one of them was underage is disgusting enough to ruin your career for good. However, Lowe made a comeback with The West Wing and by the time he landed a role on the hit NBC show Parks and Recreation, the scandal was long forgotten.
6 Iconic Beauty
In 2009, a video was released of an iconic actress appearing to smoke some illegal substances and it had everyone shook. The iconic actress was Marilyn Monroe and you would never guess by looking at her that she was a smoker but looks can be deceiving. The film in question, is only a minute and a half long and it was shot in 1958 or 1959. According to the story behind the video, it was stored in an attic for years and was recently sold for $275,000 to a collector. Though we can't really tell if she's simply smoking a cigarette or actually doing drugs, it is obvious that she appears very giggly in the video--though didn't she always appear giggly in front of the camera? We may never know the truth, but we shouldn't judge because some like it pot.
5 Director's Cut
American Idol alum, Katherine McPhee, made headlines when she was photographed kissing Michael Morris who had directed several episodes of her TV show, Smash. When the news broke that the two were hooking up on the sly, it was also revealed that she had been separated from her husband, Nick Cokas, for several months. However, Morris was still very much married to his wife of ten years, Mary McCormack and she reportedly kicked him out of their house when the news of the affair broke. In a recent interview, McPhee said that she does not regret the affair and that she has learned from all of her choices and mistakes. However, the two are no longer together. She is currently dating Nick Harborne who is the founder of Whisky Wisemen, a non-profit organization that brings whiskey-lovers together.
4 Bathroom Behavior
The attendees of the Met Gala got turnt up this year but not where you'd expect. Paris Jackson, Kendall Jenner, Kim Kardashian, A$AP Rocky, and others were all partying in the bathroom, taking selfies with drinks and cigarettes in hand. Since selfies were banned from the Met Gala by Anna Wintour in 2015, the stars were forced to resort to the bathroom in order to get both their nicotine and selfie fix. The gathering was documented on various Instagram accounts and Snapchat stories, including one from Rita Ora which featured Dakota Johnson lighting up a cigarette with Armie Hammer vaping in the background. Smoking indoors has been illegal in Manhattan since 2003. Met donors and members are not happy with the disrespect shown by the celebs at the gala this year because the smoke could have brought damage to the artwork in the museum and left the place a total mess. It is possible that this may have been the last Met Gala ever.
3 More Cheating
When Elizabeth Taylor was the biggest star in the world in the 1960s, paparazzi was a brand new kind of journalism. In the U.S. at the time, it was still considered improper to invade the privacy of another person, even if that person was a celebrity. However, when Taylor went to Italy to film Cleopatra, there were rumors swirling around about an affair with her costar, Richard Burton, and the Italian photographers, known as the paparazzi, were doing whatever it took to snap a photo of the two together. Finally, a photo was taken of the two sharing a kiss on the sound stage and it was taken by a paparazzo who had been hiding under a car all day, waiting for them to come out. The photo was printed in magazines and newspapers and it broke the news of the relationship. Since Taylor was married to Eddie Fisher at the time, the news was even more scandalous and it led to her divorcing her husband and marrying Burton. It was one of the first celebrity scandals ever broken by the paparazzi.
2 Not So Golden Moment
in 2009, a tabloid printed a photo of Michael Phelps with a bong in November of 2008 at the University of South Carolina, just a few months after his eight-gold medal performance in Beijing. This led to a worldwide scandal which caused Phelps to be suspended for three months. Though Phelps was able to sue the guy who took the picture of him and sold it to the tabloids, he said he decided it against it because he was the one responsible for doing drugs in the first place. Since the green is legal in many states in the U.S., this photograph may not have been as scandalous had it been released in 2017 instead of 2009 now that medicinal mjay is legal in South Carolina. At the time, it was illegal so there were consequences for Phelps and he owned up to it like a champ.
1 Throwing a Fit
Back before The O'Reilly Factor, Bill O'Reilly was the host of Inside Edition and he was as loud and obnoxious then as he is now. He famously went on an off-air rant that showed just how nasty he could be. Luckily for us, we have footage of the rant and it's hilarious. In the beginning of the video he's complaining about how the teleprompter isn't acting right and then tries to get through his lines but he keeps messing them up. In a fit of rage, he starts yelling and cursing, "We'll do it live! F**k it! Do it live! Look, I'll write it and we'll do it live! F**king thing sucks!" Though it would be years until the footage of the tantrum would ever be released to the public, when we did finally watch it, it was clear that O'Reilly is really just an overgrown, angry toddler.
