Ah, summer flings! There's just something so magical about the warm months that make the cute guy hanging by the pool more attractive than he would be in the fall. Taylor had just split from her longtime boyfriend, Calvin Harris. Talvin fans everywhere were shook. We thought these two were made to last! They were both tall, blonde, thin, and musically-inclined. It was a perfect match! But nope, Taylor was moving on.
She quickly (as in two weeks post-breakup) stepped out with her new man, Tom Hiddleston. For the longest time, people debated whether or not this relationship was a prank or a media stunt. What did serious actor and action movie star Tom, who was ten years older than Taylor, have to do with pop sensation, Swift? It was a strange pair. But they didn't let that stop them! They took off around the world with romantic dates in Italy and Australia, meeting Tom's parents in the UK, meeting Taylor's in the US, and snapping all the pics at Taylor's 4th of July party. That's the party where Tom sported the infamous I <3 TS tattoo and the internet lost its mind. Sadly, the two called it quits by September. Not all summer loves are meant to last but it seems like they had a good time.
14 Zac Efron & Michelle Rodriguez
Remember this one? Zac Efron, of High School Musical and overall hot Hollywood man fame, and Michelle Rodriguez, best known as the tough chick from the Fast & The Furious franchise, enjoyed a short-lived summer romance back in 2014. They were inseparable from July and August, spending most of their time on vacation in Italy and Spain. Now isn't that just the way to do a summer fling? You don't want to be busy with jobs or real life. You want to take your hot boo overseas and spend all your time together on yachts or by the beach. This is the reason people have summer flings. And it looks like both Michelle, who is ten years older than Efron, and Zac knew what this was from the start. The two split shortly after being seen partying in Ibiza in August of 2014.

Okay, if I'm being honest, this one makes me a little sick to my stomach. So far we've seen that summer flings often happen between unlikely pairings. We told you that Tom Hiddleston was ten years older than Taylor Swift and Michelle Rodriguez was ten years older than Zac when they all hooked up. But this one takes the cake. This summer fling is between Scott Disick, 34 years old, and Bella Thorne, who is only 19! Gross, right?
What would Scott, a middle-aged father of three, need to be doing with a teenager? He is 15 years older than her, which isn't absurd in Hollywood, but where they are in life is so different. Scott has three kids, has been in and out of rehab, and has a volatile relationship with his ex-in-laws, the Kardashians. Bella is most well-known for her work on the Disney Channel. See the problem? Despite the age issues, these two were seen on a dinner date in LA this May, again at a private villa in Cannes, and then partying together again in LA. Now here's a fling that we wouldn't have minded seeing pan out. Of course, if things had worked out for Blake and Leo, we never would've gotten Blake and Ryan Reynolds, which would be a travesty. So, probably for the best that this summer fling was short-lived. But while it lasted, it gave us some pretty memories.
Everyone was convinced that Blake Lively, one of the most gorgeous women on the planet, was going to be the one to tame wild Leo and get him to settle down. But you don't just take Leonardo DiCaprio, a guy as famous for his movies as he is for shacking up with a new supermodel every other week. The two were hot and heavy during the summer of 2011. Like Hiddleswift, this duo took their love all over the world. They were seen on yachts in Europe, having fun at Disneyland, roaming New York City, and being tourists in Australia. However, by October, they were both putting their statuses back to single.
11 Orlando Bloom & Selena Gomez
Orlando Bloom and Selena Gomez are like the are-they-or-aren't-they of summer flings. The duo was first spotted together in April 2014 at a concert. Selena had recently broken up with Justin Bieber. And Orlando was newly split from his wife, Miranda Kerr. Though the public was quite scandalized that these two decided to find solace in each other's arms. Orlando, who was 37 at the time, is 16 years older than Selena. He's also divorced and a father. Can we really see Selena, who not so long ago starred on the Disney Channel, taking on the role of step-mom? Probably not.
And then again, two years later in May 2016, Orlando Bloom and Selena Gomez were caught in some pretty compromising positions at a pool party in Vegas. The pictures seemed to show that these two weren't quite ready to give up their summer fling. In fact, they wanted to reignite the flame. Strangely, Bloom was still connected to Katy Perry at the time.

In the summer of 2016, the hottest fling was none other than bad boy pop star Justin Bieber and model, Sofia Richie. But it takes a lot to make friends of the Beliebers! His fans are vicious and they won't accept just anyone coming into his life. Despite Justin and Sofia seeming to be perfectly happy and in love, as documented by their many Instagram and paparazzi photos of their trip to Tokyo, the fans weren't having it. They were outright attacking Sofia on social media. It got so bad that Justin had to stand up for his lady on Instagram. He posted a black and white selfie of the two of them with the warning, "I'm gonna make my Instagram private if you guys don't stop the hate this is getting out of hand." Ultimately, all the pressure of the fans and constant hounding proved too much for the duo. They called things quits by September.
9 Taylor Swift & Conor Kennedy
There's no way we could do a list of summer flings and not include Taylor Swift more than once. As much as we love Swifty and support her choices to date as much and as publicly as she wants, it does mean she finds herself in a few short-term love affairs. The summer before we had Hiddleswift, we had Taylor and Conor Kennedy, aka the son of Robert F. Kennedy, aka American royalty. Taylor has long been a fan of the Kennedy family and some speculated that if she and Conor were to marry, they could take over the world. But, it wasn't meant to last that long. During the summer of 2015, these two were spotted all over the place, often in an intimate embrace or liplock. Taylor was so smitten that she actually ended up buying a home in Hyannis Port so she could be closer to her boo.
Sadly, things did not work out between the two. Perhaps Taylor's star status and the fact that she was five years older than the young Kennedy had something to do with it? Rumors also swirled that certain Kennedy family members were against the relationship. So by October, they were kaput. Seems like Taylor may have dodged a bullet though as Conor was recently arrested for his participation in a bar brawl.
8 Khloe Kardashian & French Montana
Khloe Kardashian has always been the Kardashian who isn't afraid to speak her mind and chart her own course. She has the best zingers on KUWTK and doesn't mind telling her mom, her sisters or her brother what she really thinks. Her infamous marriage to Lamar Odom was another point of contention for Khloe. The two were married on September 27, 2009 only one month after meeting each other at a party. So many were actually impressed that their marriage lasted as long as it did. They filed for divorce in 2013, withdrew the papers in 2015 over Odom's health issues, and finalized the divorce in 2016.
But after the divorce filing in 2013, Khloe didn't waste too much time finding herself a summer fling for the hot months of 2014. No one wants to be alone the summer after their marriage ends, right? So Khloe spent that summer in the Hamptons with French Montana, a family friend. While their relationship fizzled by the fall, French and Khloe are still good friends to this day.
7 Jennifer Lawrence & Chris Martin
Remember when people were all enraged to hear that Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Martin were a pair? And we understand why it was a shock. For starters, both Jenn and Chris had been in long term relationships - Jennifer with her X-men co-star Nick Hoult and Chris had been married to Gwyneth Paltrow, the mother of his two children, for ten years. And then, there was the age difference. Chris is 13 years older than Jennifer, who was just 24 when the two started dating. Many people, especially those who identified Jennifer as the teenage Katniss in The Hunger Games, struggled to see her as a potential step-mother to Chris' two kids. And then there was the fact that Chris Martin was one of the biggest names in music and Jennifer Lawrence was one of the biggest names in acting - it was so much Hollywood power in one couple!
But despite all the obstacles against them, these two decided to pursue romance for the summer of 2014. They got together in June, just three months after Chris and Gwyneth "consciously uncoupled." Rumor has it that Chris wasn't ready to commit so Jenn walked.
6 Kaley Cuoco & Henry Cavill
Poor Kaley Cuoco has had some trouble in the love department. Let's walk through it! In 2009, she dated her on-screen lover and co-star, Johnny Galecki, for two years. Even though it didn't work out for Kaley and Johnny, their characters, Penny and Leonard, seem to be doing okay. A year after she ended things with Johnny, she was engaged to Josh Resnik. The two called off their engagement five months later in March 2013. She then met tennis player Ryan Sweeting in the summer of 2013 and got engaged to him after only three months of dating. The two married in December of that year but then filed for divorce a year and a half later in May 2016. Since then, she's been dating current boyfriend Karl Cook. Phew!
So where does Henry Cavill, better known as Superman, fit into all that love drama? Well, the two shared an intense and short-lived 10 day summer fling in July of 2013. They were photographed a ton during their short and sweet romance. And for anyone keeping track, 2013 certainly was a busy year for Kaley! She ended an engagement, had a summer fling, met a new guy, got engaged again, and got married all within that one year!
5 Lea Michele & Robert Buckley
Lea Michele has had a tough time in the Hollywood dating scene, largely because fans are still pining for her and her departed lover, Corey Monteith. It's hard for Lea to move on when her new boyfriends have to compete with a well-loved ghost. But, she is doing her best.
The Glee girl and the iZombie/One Tree Hill guy met through mutual friends in spring of 2016, just after Lea's split from Matthew Paetz. They hit it off and began a summer fling that involved parties and lots of shared Instagram snaps. The two officially dated from May to July 2016, during which time they were filming a Hulu show, Dimension 404. On the show, the two play love interests, so it was easy enough for them to carry their chemistry both on and off the screen. But by the time production wrapped, the duo had called it quits. We're going back in the archives for this summer fling. All the way back to the summer of 2009 when our girl, Demi Lovato, was a sweet 16-year-old starlet. Remember back in the day when all the Disney stars seemed to date each other? There was Selena Gomez and Nick Jonas. Then Nick Jonas and Miley Cyrus. And then Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato. And who knows who else? But some time in there, we had Demi Lovato and Trace Cyrus, Miley Cyrus' older brother.
In the summer of 2009, Demi and Trace became an item. She was 16 and he was 20. But Demi has always had a thing for older guys, so no one was too shocked. It just didn't seem like Trace was her type. Trace rocks a bit of an emo-punk rock style (read: tattoos all over his torso, arms, and face; long black hair) which didn't really mesh with Demi's big smile and Camp Rock press tour. The two split and moved on to date other people, both in and out of the Disney circles.
3 Ariana Grande & Big Sean
Ariana Grande began her short but steamy romance with rapper, Big Sean, in the summer of 2014. Sadly, the two didn't make it to the next summer. But maybe that's for the best? Sure, the two gave us some adorable red carpet shots, drool-worthy red carpet looks, and some beautiful music. But turns out it just wasn't meant to be. The relationship started amidst a little drama. Big Sean had just ended an engagement with Glee star, Naya Rivera. Some claim that Big Sean cheated on Naya with Ariana and that's why the engagement was called off. But Ariana was head over heels. In confirming their relationship, she said, "He is one of the most amazing men in the world, and that includes my grandfather and my brother. I think the world of him, and he's an amazing person. That's kind of all there is to it." Of course, she was singing a much different tune by the end of their eight month relationship.
2 Orlando Bloom & Katy Perry
So Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom are a summer fling that just won't quit. The two got together in the summer of 2016 and everything seemed to be going well. Remember that photo of Orland Bloom standing up paddle boarding naked? Yeah, we have Katy to thank for that one. They both seemed really good for one another and looked adorable together. But alas, it wasn't meant to be. In February, their reps announced that the two were splitting. Katy took to her Twitter account to fight off rumors saying, "U can still b friends & love ur former partners! No one's a victim or a villain, get a life y'all!" But it looks like the rumor mill is back in action. Just this August, Katy and Orlando were spotted getting cozy at an Ed Sheeran concert. So maybe summer love is in the air again? Who knows how long it will stick around this time?
1 The Flings That Made It
Y'know what? Not all summer flings are bad or end in deleted Instagram shots and shady voicemails. Some couples meet in the summer and everyone assumes they're in a doomed summer fling. People look at them and just assume there's no way it's going to last. But then, it does. These three couples totally proved that they were more than just summer flings.
Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder got together in the summer of 2014. Everyone loved it because it was two vampires - one from Twilight and one from The Vampire Diaries - finding love. They laughed it off as a silly summer romance filled with fangs and dark nights. But turns out, it was more than that. Nikki and Ian got married the following year and just this summer, welcomed their baby girl, Bodhi.
