In a time where everybody is suddenly becoming open about their sexuality and gender preferences, there are more and more celebrities coming out as well. This has a lot to do with the overall acceptance of being gay, lesbian or bisexual. Combine these confessions with the confusion and busyness of celebrity lives anyway, and we’re bound to get a little bit lost. There’s so much to keep up with when we’re thinking about celebs.

Even if a celeb has one preference for much of their life that we’ve known them, that’s not to say that they will never switch. There’s always the possibility that they have been gay their entire life and just now decided to come out. Maybe your favorite actress recently realized that a different sexuality just made sense to them. Regardless of their actual reasoning, the magazines always try to keep us posted on what we should know and why they think that these celebs have come out.

There are even some celebrity moms who have been married to men and have a couple of kids with their hubbies, but then they come out as lesbian or bisexual. We don’t always know a celebrity’s preference and which team they’re swinging for. We’re going to take a look at some famous moms who have switched teams!

15 Drew Barrymore—Nothing Is Off Limits

We all know this beauty from her roles in movies like 50 First Dates, Blended, Never Been Kissed and so many more. In addition to having a number of films under her belt, she’s got a couple of kids. She’s been married three different times—always to men—but is currently not in a serious relationship with anyone.

Back in 2004—in an interview—she opened up about how she feels about women and the questions of sexuality. This was a couple of years after she split from her second husband. Barrymore said, "A woman and a woman together are beautiful, just as a man and a woman together are beautiful. Being with a woman is like exploring your own body, but through someone else. When I was younger I used to go with lots of women. Totally. I love it."

14 Cate Blanchett, Blushing

Though Cate Blanchett—the star who played in Carol, Blue Jasmine, and Thor: Ragnarok—has been married to Andrew Upton since 1997, she has some interest in women. She is the mother of four kids with Upton. We’ve always seen Blanchett with Upton, and their long marriage of nearly 20 years leads us to believe that they are still committed to each other.

After her role in the movie Carol—which was released in 2015—several questions arose from the media. These inquiries surrounded her sexuality, because Blanchett played a woman who fell in love with another woman in the film. People wanted to know if this was the first time that she had been interested in women, even though it was simply for a role. In these interviews, Blanchett mentioned that she had been in several relationships with women over the years.

13 Fergie—Big Girls Don't Pick Sides

Singer, actress and songwriter Fergie is currently married to a guy, Josh Duhamel. The pair has been married since 2009, but they recently split. This isn’t a divorce, just a potentially temporary separation so that Fergie can focus on her work and because the two are just so different from each other. The couple has a 4-year-old son, Axl.

In an interview, Fergie spoke briefly about her past experiences with women. Keep in mind that this happened prior to her marriage, so it was a while back. She said, “I’ve had a lot of fun with women, and I'm not ashamed of it.” Maybe this split will lead to Fergie exploring the idea of being with women again. She seems to have no worries about playing for either team, and we don’t know what could stop her.

12 Angelina Jolie—A Real Feminist

Angelina Jolie—a mega-influential actress and mother of six children—recently split from her baby daddy. Brad Pitt and Jolie dated for nine years before getting married in 2014, but two years of marriage was enough for this pair. Now this busy lady doesn’t seem to be in any kind of a serious relationship, but she does have an interesting past.

In 1997, Jolie was openly living as a lesbian. During this time, she was with Jenny Shimizu. In a 1997 interview, Jolie spoke about her relationship. She said, “I fell in love with her the first second I saw her. I would probably have married Jenny if I hadn't married my husband.” Though Jolie went on to date men and eventually married Pitt, there is a chance she could go back to the other team now that she’s single again.

11 Amber Heard—Johnny Wasn't Enough Anyway

American actress Amber Heard openly came out as bisexual earlier this year. She’s been in lots of movies, like Justice League, London Fields and The Rum Diary. Even more intriguing is her dating history.

Heard has dated several guys over the years, and she was married to Johnny Depp from 2015-2017. The pair had two children together in the time that they were dating (beginning in 2012) until their divorce. Prior to her relationship with Depp, she was with female photographer Tasya van Ree from 2008 until 2012.

Shortly after Depp and Heard split, van Ree and Heard met up for lunch. It’s unknown whether or not they will be in a committed relationship anytime soon, but—with Heard’s bisexual announcement—there is a chance!

10 Wanda Sykes—Comes Out

Wanda Sykes is known for her work as a hilarious comedienne. In addition to her funny jokes and killer stand-up comedy, she is an actress and writer. This now 53-year-old even had her own show for a couple of years. She’s a pretty talented chick, and we don’t think that there’s anything in her way!

As some of us know, Sykes was married to Dave Hall—a recorder/producer—from 1991-1998. What happened after their split though? In 2008, Sykes married her then-partner Alex (Niedbalski) Sykes. A month later, lesbian Wanda Sykes came out at a same-sex marriage rally. The two had met back in 2006. Alex and Wanda had twins—a boy named Lucas Claude and a girl named Olivia Lou—in 2009. The couple is still happily married!

9 Jodie Foster—Fostering Feelings

Considered to be one of the greatest actresses of her generation, Jodie Foster has a good amount of experience on the big screen. She’s starred in both films and television shows, and she has even written a few films of her own. Over the years, some of the most popular films she has been in include The Silence of the Lambs and Taxi Driver, but she has acted in over 40 movies total.

Every great star has to have a publicized love life, right? Foster has done her fair share of dating, both men and women in Hollywood. She’s been with people like Russell Crowe, Jamie Lee Curtis, Jennifer Beals, Rob Lowe and Cydney Bernard. Some of these have been quick little flings and others—like her relationship with Bernard of 20 years, which included the births of two sons—have been much longer.

Now Foster is happily married to Alexandra Hedison—who happens to be an ex of Ellen DeGeneres. They married in 2014.

8 Maria Bello—Switch Hitter

Maria Bello is an American actress. She’s been featured in over 45 films over the years, and she has also starred in TV shows. Some of these shows include NCIS, Goliath and ER. Bello dated Dan McDermott for some time, and they had a son—named Jackson—together. Then she was engaged to another guy at one point.

Following Bello’s failed relationships with men, she decided to try something new. After a two-year-long friendship with Clare Munn, they took it to the next level and started dating officially. This happy relationship ended abruptly though—we’re still unsure why—and Bello quickly got into a relationship with Elijah Allan. This is shocking, because Allan is 19 years younger than Bello. It’s also surprising, because Bello seemed so happy with Munn. Will Bello stay with the guys for a while or change it up again soon?

7 Sara Gilbert's View On Relationships

Actress Sara Gilbert has been in movies like Laws of Attraction, Riding in Cars with Boys, Poison Ivy and High Fidelity. While she’s a busy star, she’s also got a lot going on in her dating and sex life. As a celebrity, these things will naturally be publicized.

She dated Johnny Galecki for a while, because she thought he was cute. Eventually, she figured out that being with him was making her depressed. The pair remained close though, and she eventually let him know that her feelings might have to do with her sexuality. They split, and Gilbert began dating a woman secretly. Galecki helped her to keep everything hidden until she was ready to come out, and he’s been there to support her through it all! Gilbert married Linda Perry in 2014, and they are still together now.

6 Gillian Anderson Has A Lot Of Ex's In Her File

Gillian Anderson—known for her role in The X-Files and several other movies and showshas dated and been married to several men over the years. From Rodney Rowland to Mark Griffiths, she’s had a decent number of failed relationships. Anderson has three kids–Piper Maru Klotz, Felix Griffiths and Oscar Griffiths.

Anderson has also revealed that she’s been with multiple women in the past, and she spoke about this briefly in an interview. “I wouldn’t discount it. I did it before and I’m not closed to that idea. To me, a relationship is about loving another human being; their gender is irrelevant... I’m so lucky to have such great work. I’ve got a fantastic life, I have a wonderful relationship with my kids and there’s nothing lacking,” So, we may see Anderson getting some action from the other team in the near future.

5 Mel B. Brings The Spice

Mel B.

Melanie Brown—better known as Mel B. or “Scary Spice”—is a British singer, a model and an actress. She’s currently married to Stephen Belafonte and has been since 2007. She recently filed for divorce though, so she will be officially single again in the near future. Prior to marrying Belafonte, she was married to Jimmy Gulzar from 1998 until 2000. Mel B. has three kids–Madison Brown Belafonte, Phoenix Chi Gulzar and Angel Iris Murphy Brown.

She hasn’t always been about the guys though. Back when she was just 17 years old, she gave girls a try. She also had a four-year relationship with Crista Parker. She dated this woman right before she married Stephen Belafonte. When interviewed about her sexuality, she said, “I’ve definitely not been shy or been one to hold back. If I wanted to try something, I did. I had a girlfriend. So what?” Will Mel B. end up with another gal after the divorce has been finalized?

4 Sheryl Swoopes Sweeps Both Sides

Sheryl Swoopes—a former U.S. female basketball player (who also happened to be the first female signed to the WNBA)—has an interesting history with a variety of partners. She’s never been committed to one person—or gender for too long.

Swoopes originally married her high school sweetheart back in 1995. She had a son with this guy in 1997, when the two had been married for a couple of years. Seems like a “normal” family, right? Well—in 2005—she came out as gay. At this point, she was raising the child on her own. Soon after her announcement, another woman helped care for Swoopes’ son.

Then—in 2011—she and her girlfriend split up, leaving Swoopes single once again. This didn’t last long though, because she quickly got engaged to a guy friend of hers, Chris Unclesho. They married shortly after and have been married since. We wonder what will happen next and if Swoopes will ever make up her mind!

3 Anne Heche—Confused About Preferences?

American actress Anne Heche has a unique dating history. She went through a little phase of trying to figure out who she really was. Maybe she was trying something new or maybe just acting on her feelings for the first time. Heche started dating Ellen DeGeneres back in 1997. This lesbian relationship ended quickly though, with a breakup in 2000. We aren’t sure who initiated it, especially because the pair planned on getting married once same-sex marriage was legalized.

Heche then went on to date—and later married—Coleman Laffoon. This relationship lasted from 2001-2009, during which time they had a son. In 2007 (note the overlap in dates), she began seeing James Tupper. Heche and Tupper are still together, and he is the father of her second son. Something must have gone horribly wrong between DeGeneres and Heche, because Heche hasn’t gone back to girls since.

2 Julie Cypher—And Melissa Ethridge's Window

A filmmaker in the United States, Julie Cypher is not best known for her films like Teresa’s Tattoo and Arduous Moon. She’s gotten a lot of her fame from her relationship with Melissa Etheridge, which lasted about 10 years.

Prior to having Etheridge as her partner, Cypher had been married to Lou Diamond Phillips from 1987-1990. The year 1990 happens to be the same year that Cypher got together with Etheridge, who is a pop singer. As we can all see, there was a tiny gap between the divorce and the filmmaker moving on to Etheridge.

During Cypher and Etheridge’s relationship, they had two children, both who have Cypher’s last name. The sperm was supposedly supplemented by David Crosby. After the lesbians split in 2000, Cypher went back to the other team and married Matthew Hale in 2004. The two are still together now, but that could change if the right lady comes along.

1 Meredith Baxter Gets Along With The Ladies

Meredith Baxter—the now 70-year-old actress and producer—is most famous for her role on Family Ties, All the President’s Men, Family and a variety of others. She is still filming at this time, too! In addition to her acting career, she has also got quite the dating history though, so let’s take a look.

Her first marriage—from 1966-1971—was with Robert Lewis Bush. Shortly after this ended, she dated David Cassidy for a little while. Baxter then moved on to David Birney in 1974 and was with him for just six years. Her most recent heterosexual marriage was to Michael Blodgett from 1995 until 2000. It sure seems like she can only put up with these guys for a maximum of five to six years.

Baxter is now married to Nancy Locke. The pair tied the knot back in 2013 and seem happy now. Maybe this is the relationship Baxter has been searching for!
