Kissing scenes in Hollywood are known for being sultry, glamorous and ultra-romantic. Or at least, that’s how they appear to be.

With cameras recording every move, several takes being done to get the “perfect shot” and an entire set crew all watching, it makes it difficult for Hollywood kisses to leave actors and actresses weak in the knees and wanting more.

Despite this, there are still some stars known for being excellent kissers on-and-off the screen, while others are lacking in that department. From having garlic breath to freezing up mid-kiss, take a read at 15 celebs who do not make the A-list when it comes to their smooching skills.

15 Jason Segel

Being a bad kisser turned out to be a blessing for How I Met Your Mother actor, Jason Segel.

He and his co-star Alyson Hannigan played the roles of Marshall and Lily, the couple who spirited #RelationshipGoals. Yet, according to Contact Music, Alyson Hannigan had originally refused to kiss Segel as he smelled and tasted like cigarette smoke.

Eventually, her refusal to lock lips caused Segel to quit smoking for good. He said he was grateful as he has a higher sex drive, didn’t gain weight and wasn’t too grumpy.

14 Kate Hudson

She may be the Queen of Rom-Coms, but Kate Hudson’s onscreen kisses were less than desired by some of her co-stars.

On the Andy Cohen’s show, Watch What Happens Live, comedian and Hudson’s My Best Friend’s Girl co-star, Dane Cook, made an appearance. While there, he dubbed Hudson as his “worst onscreen kiss,” saying, “I think she purposely ate a feast of onions right before the scene. I had to burn her on that one.”

13 Matt Lanter

There were plenty of steamy scenes on the remake of the show, 90210, but the kissing scenes between co-stars wasn't always all that sexy. This was the case for actress AnnaLynne McCord who called her co-star, Matt Lanter a "bad kisser." She even went so far as to say that kissing him kind of sucked.

Clearly Lanter had a different experience as he revealed that he didn't mind the kissing scenes to  Seventeen magazine. "I hope fans get to see more of us making out, I like that part! It's not so much a nervous factor but it can be a little awkward if you don't know the person. If you aren't familiar with the person you are making out with you never know how far they are going to go or how much they are going to put into it. Clearly AnnaLynne and I don't seem to have a problem with that."

12 Brad Pitt

Kissing Brad Pitt would be a dream come true for many women around the world. Yet, for his Interview With a Vampire co-star, Kristin Dunst, it was anything but. She told Bullet magazine that the whole ordeal was “disgusting.” And with that one comment, millions of hearts broke all around the world.

11 Robert Pattinson

The thought of kissing Robert Pattison—the beloved Edward Cullen—would be enough to make any tween squeal. His Water for Elephants co-star Reese Witherspoon had a much more different, quite gross experience.

While their onscreen kissing scenes appeared romantic, Witherspoon told MTV News that the kiss with Pattison wasn’t appealing or pleasant. The reason for this was a bad cold he had while filming. He also recalled the incident to MTV News, saying “My nose is running all over the place, and it was in one of the additional photography scenes, and Reese had this wig on, and literally, I was wiping my nose on her wig.”

10 Angelina Jolie

With full lips like hers, one would think that bombshell Angelina Jolie would have no difficulty in the kissing department. However, according to her Wanted co-star, James McAvoy, that wasn’t the case.

InTouch Weekly reported that filming love scenes with Jolie was not quite the dream it seemed. The Scottish actor said, “I can tell you what it was like to kiss her on a film set: It was awkward, sweaty and not very nice,” he said. “There was angst involved in that, as always. I don’t think Brad Pitt felt threatened for one moment.”

9 Tobey Maguire

While their upside-down kiss in Spiderman has remained as one of the most iconic kisses in cinema, shooting it wasn’t as romantic. In an interview with Parade magazine in 2007, Maguire said, “I was hanging upside down, it was really late at night, it was raining, and the whole time I had rainwater running up my nose. Then, when Kirsten rolled back the wet mask, she cut off the air completely.”

8 Bradley Cooper

With his dreamy blue eyes, one would think that locking lips with Bradley Cooper would be a breeze. The acting was strong between him and his co-star, Jennifer Lawrence in the movie Silver Linings Playbook, enough to even win her an Oscar. Yet, the kissing apparently lacked.

Immediately after kissing, she told him that he was a wet kisser. This honesty could be based on the fact that the two are close friends—they went on to star in another movie together. Yet, Bradley still responded to her comment on the Graham Norton Show: “You don't want to hear that. It was not a compliment.” It was quite the irony as Hunger Games co-star, Josh Hutcherson called his kisses with Jennifer, “slobbery.” Ouch.

7 Kate Beckinsale

Kate Beckinsale’s Total Recall co-star Colin Farrell found locking lips with her to not be pleasurable. While on the Conan show, he described their kissing scene a “little bit creepy,” since it was Beckinsale’s husband who directed the movie.

6 Shailene Woodley

The chemistry between co-stars Shailene Woodley and Miles Teller was off the charts in The Spectacular Now. Yet kissing each other didn’t match what viewers’ saw on screen.

At a screening of the movie, hosted by Cinema Society, he revealed that Woodley’s healthy lifestyle made for some less-than-perfect kissing scenes. “She would take these herbal supplements, these Chinese herbal supplements, and they tasted like crap. And she would always eat them right before we had a kissing scene! We put stuff in our mouths so we could just offend each other.”

5 Tom Cruise

Mixing action with romance may not be panning out for actor Tom Cruise. His Mission Impossible co-star Thandie Newton described kissing Cruise as, “slightly icky and sort of wet. I'd really go home at the end of the day actually moaning about how hot it was and how many times we had to do it.”

4 Leonardo DiCaprio

When the hunky actor isn’t busy locking lips with supermodels, he’s doing it onscreen with his female actress co-stars.

A kiss says a thousand words and for his The Beach co-star, Virginie Ledoyen, their kiss said that she would never want him as a lover. “There [was] no honest passion. No real sensitivity in our love scenes. In our underwater love scenes all I could think of was not drowning. I can't even remember his kiss.”

3 Orlando Bloom

Keira Knightley, the lucky actress who got to smooch both Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom while filming the movie, Pirates of the Caribbean, found that one man was a better kisser of the two. While she said that kissing the hunky Johnny Depp wasn't "bad," kissing Orlando was "peculiar." This was quite the jab considering how Orlando had praised her kissing skills during an interview with Empire Online, saying that "she knows how to kiss."

2 Emma Watson

While many Harry Potter fans long awaited the kiss between beloved characters Hermione and Ron, actress Emma Watson just wanted to get it over with.

She told MTV News, “I ended up pouncing on Rupert. I was so desperate to get it over. After the first take he was like, ‘Whoa, there! Where did that come from?’ I was like, ‘Sorry!’’” She also admitted to being worried, with a million thoughts running through he mind before the kiss.

1 Harrison Ford

Actress Helen Mirren was the one to out Harrison Ford on being a “bad kisser.” Yet, she wasn’t the only female co-star of his to think so.

According to Gawker, she revealed: “He can't kiss - he finds it impossible to kiss on screen.' Then, she added: ‘He’s probably not very good off screen either. It’s not just me - other actresses agree. Whenever we get chatting off screen and we get around to talking, we come to the same conclusion.’”
